  1. I love the "showmeall" cheat too! I use it all the time, very helpful for seeing all the monsters around me. I haven't gotten to that part yet, so I can just offer some general advice...look for a black spot on a wall that highlights when your mouse moves over it, that indicates secret passages. Also, if there is a cave system below the drake, going underground and going in the direction of the other hostiles may lead you under a river or something and maybe there is a secret passage underground that takes you to them.
  2. I miss my trusty light spell too! Now I have to pick up every lamp and lantern I see....thank god it doesn't add to the weight. You have to have light in dungeons so you can see the little black spot that marks secret passages also so you can see the monsters better. I don't know about you, but I like being able to see what I'm fighting
  3. I don't understand all this script editing stuff, I'm not a programmer. What I would be interested in is a cheat code for bringing a character back from the dead...it really sucks to get halfway through a dungeon (doing the Sentinel Workshop quest) and have a character collapse into unconsciousness. I really would hate to go all the way back to town and then come back. That's what I miss from the old character editor
  4. Yay it worked! Thank you so much, that Rat Bounty quest was really bothering me...next time I play I'll make sure I don't accept it after I've already killed the Rat Lord and his pests. After I talked to the Mayor and completed the quest, the Courier Satchel quest appeared on the job board and I was able to get rid of the satchel I've been carrying around in my special items for forever. Thanks again!
  5. I didn't do either, I just talked to him a bit. If you do either of those you get Harkin's Landing mad at you, and I didn't want to escape the town in a fight for my life. I read in the hint book that if you're controlled by Gladwell you have to kill the drake. If you're not, then you can be nice to him and free him.
  6. When I received the bracelet from the Mayor and talked to Incantor Foramon (sp?) I was able to then turn the wheel myself and leave...I think I talked to one of the guards first and showed him the bracelet. You could try that. Or maybe you need to get Foramon to say something else?

  8. Okay so the advice didn't work 1. Have been back to the Rat Cave and no rats are to be found..have stood on all 3 runes again too. Is there a way to mark this quest as complete? 2. There is no more posts on the job board. I have done the Message: Gladwell quest, Lowlands Slime quest and Package: Harkin's Landing quest...I believe those three were on the job board, but no other quests have appeared. Maybe I need to complete the rat bounty quest first? Any more help / advice would be greatly appreciated!
  9. Quote: Originally written by Sir Dikiyoba: 1. Supposedly, the rats in the Rat Lord's lair will respawn. 2. If you've done enough of the other job board quests, then the quest to retrieve that satchel will appear there. Dikiyoba isn't sure how many need to be done. Oh I didn't know the courier satchel was a job board quest...I'll go check that out when I'm playing and I'll check out the Rat Lord's cave again. Thanks so much!
  10. Well there was one cache that I found surrounded by rocks and next to a wall. After lighting a lamp, I saw the black spot on the wall that indicated a secret passage, and was able to get to the cache. maybe some of the ones that are unreachable might not be There was a distinct lack of secret passages in Avernum 4 (which I hated, being a big fan of head butting against walls in the other Avernum games) and I'm so happy there are so many secret passages in this game! Way to go!
  11. I thought that after killing Lystak the Beast, you could get a bracelet from Mayor Vikas as well? It mentions it in the hintbook....something about if the town of Harkins Landing is hostile (not the same thing I know) you can go to Mayor Vikas and get the bracelet.
  12. So I have two problems right now.... 1. I stupidly accepted the rat bounty quest after I had already killed the Rat Lord....I thought that after accepting I could just go to the mayor and it would give me the reward like it had been counting anyways but I was wrong. So how do I clear this quest from my list? Can I just kill 20 miscellaneous rats? 2. I found the courier satchel in the goblin cave but I haven't received the quest from Minister Pilhofer...how do I get him to give me this quest? I have the anama letter quest from him, do I need to complete this first? Thanks to anyone that can help!

Yes that is what I meant...and I'm a she by the way As an adult you are aware of the religious/christian aspects of the book, while when a child it sails right over your head. Actually I try not to pay attention to the religious aspect anyways, and just think of it a good fantasy story. By the way I hope you like Dune, I read it last about 10 years ago and have to re-read it one of these days....this time I have the other four books (I only want to read the ones by Frank Herbert) and can read the rest of the series.
  14. I just finished re-reading the Chronicles of Narnia series by C.S. Lewis, throughly enjoyed it. It's funny to get some adult perspective on books you read as a kid....I guess the same goes for movies too. Next up I'm going to read "Life of Pi" by Yann Martel, I've heard it's good. I don't seem to have as much time as I used to for reading books, I guess I'm on the computer too much, playing spiderweb software games

There's a quest to free some soldiers and recover some possessions. You bring down the barrier between the Giants and the Troglodytes later on....it's fun being in the middle!
  16. I would love to live in Avernum! That would be so cool....except for the eating mushrooms all the time and the bad wine Oh and one thing no one mentioned in the differences between Avernum 1 and the rest, is that if you play the Windows version of Avernum 1 there's a bug that you only move two spaces at a time...I found this really annoying when trying to get through doors and secret passages. The fix is to use the right click button and that moves you one space.
  17. Copied and pasted from Relle's Avenum 3 Walkthrough (which I could not live without, btw) ***start quote "These are items created by X and sent to the surface (most of them, at least) with the first Avernite spy team. Unfortunately, most of that team died. The items live on, however. Not all of them are useful. Most of them only serve to take up space. However, they're very unusual and unique items, so I thought they deserved their own space. Xian Ale - This is found among the loot held by the ogre who's taken over the dryad's grove. It will make your entire party inebriated (drunk) and once in a while, bless everyone as well, negating the negative effects. Xian Chain Mail - This is behind a cracked wall in the southeastern corner of the Upper Golem Factory. You'll need Move Mountains to reach it. It's strong, but it comes with several unmentioned negative stat effects. Either store it somewhere or sell it, but don't try wearing it. Xian Coins - The reward for completing the quest Find Mundt. They'll give you a few coins every now and then. Xian Pouch - In the Sacred Booty room in the Cavern of Giants, where you find the Barrier Tunnel map. It will leak hazardous effects, mostly disease, slow, and paralysis. Xian Rock - Found in the Hermit's Hut in Midori province. This is the same hermit who teaches the Ritual of Sanctification. If used as a missile weapon, this rock automatically returns to the wielder. It will also occasionally spawn regular rocks in your inventory. Xian Shrub - Found in the Sharimik storerooms. It requires Unlock Doors at level 3 or a very high tool use. It will basically cause plants to replicate in your inventory. Xian Slacks - This is in one of the giant villages in the Midori province, west of Dellston. The slacks give a great bonus to luck, but a penalty to your base stats. Xian Skull - Found in an ogre circle in southeast Valorim. Makes random messages pop up from time to time. Xian Tome - Found in the southwestern most room in the Tower of the Magi, in a desk. This merely cycles through all the regular books of the game. A fun diversion, especially the Tearing of the Bodice. Yum. Xian Vest - In the very northeastern corner of Valorim is a man who will sell you this for 5000 coins. You can kill him instead, but just pay him if you can. The vest has high resistance, but some serious stat penalties. Not worth the money, or the merchant's life." ***end quote. As for me, I think I sold all the Xian items when I found them...why don't you trying wearing the chainmail so you can tell us what the negative effects are?
