  1. Do the optional dungeons and stuff if you haven't done them yet. Other than that, keep going through the game until your almost done, then wait for day 160.
  2. Is that because avernum now uses the geneforge engine?
  3. I say it should work on 0, 1 (why is gazer there?), 2, 3, 4, and 13. It would give use to the skill.
  4. First note, I love Marathon! I was like 6 when I played it last. My dad moved around, and I shot the weapons. It was a blast. The other people of gladwell I believe are hostile, except for the girl in the inn (get it? hahahaha!). But I only know of two crystals, one up top with gladwell, and one down below (your geas crystal).
  5. Ruperts party sounds quite sound. I think I may go with that. Is there any issue with having only one priest? (other than if he get mind controled).
  6. Wingbolts are useless unless you have a meatshield to take the damage. Gazers are awesome, but wartralls give damage, take damage, and still have the range attack. My favorite without a doubt.
  7. Ya, that happens alot actually. You just have to unshackle them, or tough it out. Scrolls can help here.
  8. Magic is mysterious. I don't remember anything about it except that if you had the ability you could be trained in controling it. The graphic art seems to imply that essence comes from the caster and coalesce's not far away. The essence is then directed with magic to form the creature. At least I think that's how it works. That's how it works in my mind. I remember essence vats that were volitle after mantience wasn't kept up.
  9. I don't really care what the graphics are. I play a game based on other, better, more important things.
  10. I think when I get A6 I'll have both a dual weild guy and a pole guy. I'll take the two best swords as well as the best pole and go to town all melee happy.
  11. You could have no drops of anything better than iron armor. That way you either have to wait a very long time for drops from bosses or tresures in certain areas or buy steel from the store.
  12. I always join gladwell, always kill gladwell, but I keep the points by not destroying the geas crystal thingy.
  13. But khoth, some of them like the challenge.
  14. My characters also occassionally have mystical energy heal them or replinish spell points. Its only natural if one of thier ancestors is divine.
  15. Losing those stat points is a bad choice imo. Why would you do anything to lose stats as precious as endurance and inteligence? Collect all the mined crystals, sell them to Thalants crystal worker, then kill the crystal. Its not that hard.
  16. Quote: ...as opposed to the first trilogy which was obviously just a remake of Exile. Its supposed to be. The whole point of the first 3 avernum games were to be a better version of exile.
  17. I almost never summon creatures; I need to incorporate that into my strategy. Thanks Randomizer!
  18. An all offense build works really good unless enemies have an area effect attack, and your priest doesn't know group heal. Ex: The giant in A5 is nearly impossible to kill before the drayk pillars simply because of the area of effect. I can kill him no problem as soon as I get group heal. Another enemy that is nearly impossible is the Pit Crawler. It'll kill a character every turn, while the worms swarm you.
  19. The next thing you can do to make the game fun is start decreasing the number of characters you take. I finished a game not long ago with 2 characters (normal difficulty), and it made multiple new challenges (unstable masses were brutal at early levels).
  20. For me, its shift-D to open them in gameplay. Is that the mac version only or something?
  21. Of A1-A5, A3 was my favorite. I actually have never beaten it fully, and I still think its the best. The only thing that could be desired is where the pack you carry does not count to your overall weight. And Jeff is not still making these. A6 is the end. I think its a good time to start a new story, as we can't stay in the caves forever. I'm looking forward to the many upcoming adventures of Avadon.
  22. Why? I like the story and rpg + strategy that the game brings. How? I am basically a purist, though I use ouchouchouch and imdrained when im not in battle. I find it to be more real that way.
  23. Then you will accomplish your goal. Spend as little as you can on each stat, and remember that bows/thrown missiles count as 1/2 a point. This means if it costs 7 to upgrade melee, and 4 to upgrade bows, melee is the better deal. Note: I like unununium better than roentgenium. =p
  24. Some criticism: Your wasting skill points. You'll get the battle disciplines anyway later, why waste them now, say for the want of challenge?
