  1. The Geneforge AI has changed in that even with a shaper type with 6 creations and the shaper not attacking the AI will hunt you down. You can think that you are safe around the corner doing nothing and get attacked. It doesn't seem to matter if you have more creations than the enemy as I once thought. You can't count on avoiding damage if you didn't attack. I found another glitch to annoy Jeff as he rushes to finish. Killing something off that wasn't supposed to die sure messes up the game. I'm not talking about killing NPCs with dialog options that you need this time. Just something I found by accident.
  2. Do not mock the turtle. They get aroused and start to eat everything. The forums just got cleaned up from the last incident.
  3. Or if part of the building falls upon you, you'll just feel crushed.
  4. Another idea would be a Nethergate style game where you could start as one of the three Shaper types (shaper, guardian, or agent) or as a Rebel (warrior, infiltrator, servile, lifecrafter, or shock trooper) and have differing but intersecting missions. I did start with the pacifist game where my character refused to kill anything himself or take the kill dialog option. I got through about 20 areas of the 81 before I had to test something else. You get a lot of money selling off almost every weapon and crystal. I will try it again sometime. I think I want something better than a fyora to assist me.
  5. Since Geneforge 4 is about to be released we might as well start with what we want in the next installment. Beta testers have an unfair advantage since we already know what has been changed since Geneforge 3. 1) Male and female versions of the characters, please. I know this has been a complaint since Geneforge 1. 2) More slots to carry items in the backpack. You'll understand when you see how many items you'll carry around now that items in the backpack don't count towards encumberance. 3) A tougher expert dungeon for the end of the game. This one is hard, but doable if you are prepared. I need to see if Jeff fixed the glitch that lets you repeat the fight with the boss monster to get its dropped loot more than once (return of the infinite Chesh bug from Geneforge 1 with better treasure).
  6. Don't you know that fluffy turtles can attack. The bite is more of a gumming attack, but they clamp on and don't let go until they get all of your sanity. You still have about a week to get a Mac. There are probably some used old Mac minis out there that you could use with your Windows equipment for not too much.
  7. It's not how you die so much as the mess you leave behind for others. No neat little pile of treasure to be looted. Good luck getting the committee together since you will also have to agree upon the agenda.
  8. Wish for Geneforge 5 is that Jeff finally has time for male and female versions of each character class. Still the new character graphics are better than the older ones.
  9. Nice new screen shots from the middle of the game. Jeff is still revising the last part of the game so he'll be rushing to add the new graphics and any other changes. It seems to be shaping up to be the best Geneforge. One nice change is that the options you get with both sides depends upon how much you actually help them and not having to choose between dialog options. You still need to make the right dialog choice to get to the option, but now you don't have to pick opinions that you don't believe in anymore.
  10. Almost done with the game and I'm planning to run a servile next time. Has anyone tried the vampire option (about halfway into the game)? Since Jeff's working on the documentation there isn't anything about how it works. I didn't want to try as a shaper type with my lousy to hit chance for the bite attack. I was wondering if it gives enough health back to make it worth trying?
  11. 1) For Hidden skills see this one. 2) The best way to block riposte/parry when you attack is to use area effects spells since they can''t be parried.
  12. Quote: Originally written by Guardian Magma: Hey, why you don't just open a betatesters topic? I suggested we get together in the Hidden Forums to plot game strategy, but Jeff doesn't want us teaming up on the monsters. He thinks we do enough damage on our own without collaborating. Still haven't got to past the Shaper Council.
  13. You don't need to use fight (dagger) button to attack a friendly/neutral with icy crystals. This doesn't always work with spray and swarm crystals since it only damages the targetted one.
  14. You need the ruby slippers. Click your heels together three times and say, "There's no place like Oglai."
  15. If you open the back door so he attacks you then you can kill him. With no left alive to see you steal, you can loot the place. I don't remember if there is a theft level like in Avernum on how much you can take. The guy is a spy which you find out after you explore the back area past the turrets. Generally if no one can see you, then you can steal. I keep forgetting to close the door. - One of the reasons cannibals in New Guinea took to Christianity was that they like a religion where they got to eat of the body and blood of a powerful leader. The missionaries were upset to find out why they were so successful in gaining new followers.
  16. Thanks!!! That Shaping Council is a pain. I tried it with a servile, but they kept absorbing my esssence. It's hard to swing a sword with no arms.
  17. That quest is one of the moral questions you face in the game. There are a few where you really don't want to finish the quest because the person or monster really doesn't deserve it.
  18. Anyone figure out how to get the other vlish creations? I wanted the one that heals allies so I can fight instead of wasting time healing. I keep getting the terror vlish and then have to spend my time chasing after the experience.
  19. Jeff is still playing with the graphics. I think the Vahnatai addition was a mistake. This may change by the next beta.
  20. Quote: Originally written by -X-: Why, either Jeff has gone insane, or some very naughty beta-testers are lying to the poor little unprivileged members. . . Now why would beta testers lie? Once the game is released it will all become much clearer. We are bound by the NDA in revealing certain information. As for that 32 living tool door, it needs the Mechanic's tool chest to reduce the difficulty. You'll find it if you poke around in enough chests nearby. I can't disclose more since Jeff wants us to play independently.
  21. I tried to do it a shaper type so I could hang back outside the blast radius and have my higher health creations do the fighting. I became a deadweight shaper that just hangs around to heal them. I don't know about doing some of these encounters as a glass cannon agent type. You don't have a lot of health with 1 endurance. I think Jeff is out to get us. Have you seen the new opening graphic for the new beta? Coming to dinner with the drakons takes on a whole new meaning.
  22. Batons reload automatically in combat. I think you could go into fight mode when there is nothing around and target something with it to get it to reload, and then hit escape to cancel.
  23. You need to use mass madness to get them to fight amongst themselves. Unfortunately they them explode into more mindless worms that are immune to daze and madness spells. I'm still trying to get past that part. That ridiculous high resistance to magic attacks makes it like playing an Avernum singleton in Torment mode. You keep plinking away for a few points of damage each round.
  24. Go into the folder for preferences for the operating system and look for the different Spiderweb game preference files. Copy those files to a disk or flash drive and you can reload them when your games "loses" their registrations.
  25. I asked about GF1 during the summer and got the reply that Dikiyoba mentioned. 2) To improve a fyora you need a few levels of fire shaping before you make one. Otherwise you need to add essence to strength to have it hit more often and for more damage. You'll probably be better off waiting until Drypeak Warren (? )for training so you can get level 3 in fyora and make a cryoa instead.
