  1. Or, you could write the walkthrough and be the hero for everyone. *this message sponsored by cnet networks*
  2. Quote: Originally written by Solid Ocean Core Souls: Not that anyone here seems to know of. Wait for the Windows release. —Alorael, who would be sorrier if it weren't simply justice for the Windows users to have to wait their turn sometimes. That logic seems more emotional than anything. I'm a PC user, of course, but I can't think of a single piece of software that I've purchased that is not available for Mac. Since the only games I buy (to play rather than gift) are by Spiderweb, I am left at a disadvantage. I'm happy for all you Mac users that you have a company that supports you, and I wish more felt that need. But it leaves an ill taste that the preference for Macs leaves the PC user waiting. Of course I do get to spend this time accidentally reading A4 related threads, even some spoilers, and have the feeling that some of us are left out of the party. It would seem Jeff could cater to both user groups by delaying release or by using whatever library someone suggested for quick conversion between platforms. Just a thought. *this message sponsored by the hysteria channel*
  3. No mods? I nominate Alorael, TM, Thralni, and ADoS *this message sponsored by Clint Eastwood *
  4. Code: choice = run_dialog(0); COINS = COINS_AMOUNT(); // define coins as integer if (choice == 1) { if (COINS < 10) { // Not 0, but 10 message_dialog("When he sees that you yourself don't have enough coins to give him, he looks rather ashamed of himself."," "); message_dialog("Clearly this fellow is needy and humble, so you toss him your last coins."," "); change_coins(-1*coins); } else { change_coins(-10); message_dialog("He thanks you profusely and walks to the nearest bakery."," "); } } Otherwise your 4 coins turns into a negative. I think you can use arithmetic in the change_coins command, but may be wrong. You can make a new variable if I am wrong. *this message sponsored by the Shayder Chamber of Commerce*
  5. Do these things need to be unzipped? Never done BoE, so I'm just asking... *this message sponsored by pk*
  6. Are you sure it is calling state 10? Try commenting out the picture call and put in a message instead. I will assume that scendatascript is wrong, since most places I've seen it written scennamedata where scenname is the same as the .bas name. *this message sponsored by sylvania*
  7. I'm amazed that 10 people actually had any idea what kind of weapon they wanted to BE. *this message funded by the epa*
  8. Hah! My savegame had me right outside of Blosk, so I happily report that the sign outside the door reads "Shrine of Shadows." The priest, Mondrian, claims he is "the priest of secrets." *this message sponsored by the confessional*
  9. Is using terrain number 434 acceptable for a non-searchable terrain? I've got nothing else, since I'm at work, working hard, and can't be bothered to not work. Really. *this message sponsored by work*
  10. What operating system? Did you let the game install at its default settings or have you changed stuff? It sounds like it can't find things, which suggests that you need to reinstall using default settings. *this message sponsored by the pennant *
  11. Healers are the same as specialized stores. *this message sponsored by the golden calf*
  12. Can the cutscene move the party onto a blue rectangle? I guess the question is if the engine will check for specials while already in a cutscene node. *this message needs a sponsor*
  13. I'm pretty sure you mean that they don't show up graphically, but I assure you that the person is still in your party. To check, simply cast a spell on character 5 or 6. *this message sponsored by bahssikava*
  14. That does sound like a problem, but I think I know the fix. Do a file find for modem.sys, and then delete that file. You should not have a problem with the post counts with that annoying file gone. *this message sponsored by the drive to 5*
  15. A pregnant Kate Moss might approximate a pregnant vahnatai. *this message sponsored by [211th letter of the alphabet]*
  16. Go ahead and slay me for replying to an older topic. Done? Ok. The isolated hut in A2 (near the Motrax hospital cave) is a safe house for Ethridge and Tori. Sun symbol with a circular rainbow around it adorns the doorway. One bed, if you were curious or slow. *this message sponsored by melissa and amos?*
  17. You must have updated with one of MS's fun service packs. Those seem to screw things up consistently. If you haven't tried reinstalling, then do so. If that doesn't work, click Start|Help|and then type '16'. You should get a list of help topics that explain why 16-bit isn't working. I run Windows 2000, and that list included video, sound, conflicts, and other goodies. If it is available, click Start|Run and type 'command.com'. If that works, then change directories manually to the E3 executable and try running it that way. The only other thing I can think of is that the shortcut (Start options are shortcuts too) has some option set incorrectly. Try right-clicking on the shortcut and select properties. If something looks like it is wrong, change it. After all, things can't get worse than they are now. FYI, E3 works on this computer, which has service pack 4 installed. *this message sponsored by the pro bono research division of my desktop services*
  18. Wait. I thought Drakey was Mariann and Linda. Now you say Jeff and Richard. I wish I had abandoned all of my sanity. *this message sponsored by the universal id card company*
  19. It is true, I've done it. Jeff was very accomodating and sent me a new reg code almost immediately. His email is the one at the bottom of the page through the Contact Us link. *this message sponsored by one-a-day*
  20. There is a bug fix available on www.spiderweb.com that addresses this issue. It patches to version 1.0.3 (I think) for the PC. Edit - I'm an idiot. *this message sponsored by the acme billboard company*
  21. Can't you use teleport party to move them onto the special rectangle?? *this message, sadly, has no sponsor*
  22. Doesn't this actually belong in the Avernum Trilogy forum? I mean, if it truly belongs anywhere, it shouldn't be here. Now to go and actually read the first three posts.... *this message supports good behaviour while Drakey is on vacation*
  23. It sounds like a gremlin has been messing with your computer. Any siblings? Alternatively, someone downloaded a fresh copy of Avernum and installed it, effectively uninstalling your registered version. *this message funded by the moth in the mainframe*
  24. That'll teach ya to go messin about with strange new coding techniques. I also think that none of us are supposed to see how badly the BoE/BoA conversion of VoDT actually went. *this message sponsored by the magical waste disposal company - stored in computers too*
