  1. Be careful to hit "Post Reply" and not "New Topic" when you want to reply to a topic. The relevant thread is here .

That won't need complex scripts, and is probably going to appeal to more people than one about a Muffin Lord Demon. Your idea sounds horribly boring and totally without redeeming value. If there's one thing that Avernum players don't need, it's another pointless scenario about killing bandits. By all means, make a scenario that's bizarre and different. If it comes out bad, well, it's no worse than making a totally bland, normal first scenario, and at least it's different.
  3. Nope. After all, the plotline of each of the GFs involved an apprentice who has very little power yet.

This is what BoA so desperately needs. Quote: Lastly, you idea of script templates is great and I will definitely look into it. It shouldn't be very hard, I'd think, and it'd be really convenient to have.
  5. Does it check brackets (outside of running Alint)? It'd be nice if an unmatched bracket showed up in some odd color (like red).
  6. Look through the various help on my page and linked from my page. Check out the articles under My Articles and the Cookbook in Erik Westra's Stuff, and also look through the Links. I think I'm going to add a question later today to the Designer FAQ about getting started.
  7. I guess I'm surprised that no one has done another Inn of Blades, so this make sense. I feel like the TM sword-wielding slith graphic, personally.

  9. If you have several related questions, you can ask them all in the same topic, instead of creating three different topics. But don't worry about the number of questions; a lot of people struggle through these games and need much more help than you have asked for so far.
  10. My links page can guide you to stuff that you need.
  11. I think I liked the old graphics better, at least as far as I can tell from the screenshots. The awkward color of the grass in Nethergate was part of the charm, I think. And vahnatai floor in Nethergate just seems out of place. Meh, I'd probably get used to it after about half an hour of playing and never think of it again.
  12. I'm going to cut this off right here before anyone says anything unpleasant. Iffy, I'm assuming that your posts were made in good faith, but it's usually best to do some sort of checking before you give help. This poster made just about the best request for help that one can make (complete with screenshot), so telling him not to be a "newb" is not really useful. Tyran, go easy on Iffy. Neither of you have done anything particularly wrong, and I'm shutting this down before anyone does. Let no one complain that the mods are too slow to act! Anarch, my impression is that your question has been answered. If you have a further one, feel free to make a new topic.
  13. Um, don't mind Iffy (Infernal Flamming Muffin). He's new and clearly doesn't remember this part of the game. Wander a bit north and west. You'll find a wheel with a chain. Turn it until there are stairs that you can just push the boulder up. (You'll have to turn it again a couple of times to get the orientation in the next room right.)

I know Adam Cadre. I didn't realize that anyone had ever heard of his writing, though. Quote: Originally written by Meta-Undead: You're not a noob, just a newb. You od have bad grammar, though. Dude. I am definitely aware that typing skills and grammar skills are separate, but seriously, that's just embarrassing.
  15. Um, direct further comments here . Not that you really ought to have any further comments. Board opinion seems to be nearly unanimous.
  16. w00t occasionally I do something right!
  17. Wonder no more. If Jeff had ever gotten such an offer, he almost certainly would've taken it and would be rolling in the dough right now (and not making any more games).
  18. Thuryl's humor is wasted on the stupid.
  19. Quote: Originally written by Aethereal: does this also mean BoA is going to be a universal binary sometime soon too? Um, if I'm not mistaken, Spidweb has released updates for most of its recent games (including BoA) to make them compatible with the latest versions of everything.
  20. Quote: Originally written by Infernal Flamming Muffin: I have decided to stop being a "mini non mod" or whatever you guys call it. Um, people tend to call it something considerably less charitable. EDIT: By the way, in case anyone is confused, Thuryl is absolutely right. Just so it's clear.
  21. As a quick addition: In Latin, dictator just means speaker. It was, as noted, a fairly normal position, but Julius Caesar got himself appointed dictator for life, which was unheard of, and that was the reason that he became unpopular enough with the senatorial class to get executed. Julius Caesar was a pretty good politician (and a pretty good general), but Augustus Caesar was a far better politician and not a bad general himself. He did, of course, have his adopted father's experience to draw on, but Julius Caesar could've learned from Sulla, Catalina, and the others who had attempted to become king before him and failed.
  22. For anyone who needs reminding, the relevant rule is that it is generally considered polite to leave a dead topic alone unless you have something genuinely new and useful to add to it, such as answering a question that never got answered — Imban revived a dead topic recently for such a purpose — or posing a new, related one (as in this thread). I think the question posed here has been answered, but I'll leave this thread open anyway, more out of whim and caprice than for any particular reason.

  25. Quote: Originally written by Death Twisted: And Nalyd was little when he chose that first moniker. How did you find it, anyway? We moderators have our ways. I actually didn't have any idea who you were. You haven't registered in my consciousness enough yet that I know your member number or anything distinctive about your profile, so I checked something else and came up with the name Doomer.
