i did an all-priest party once, and it worked quite well. my only problem was the unlock doors, dispell barrier etc thingys, for which one has to buy utilities that run out even faster than they are expensive. and of course cool spells like far sight are unavailable. -

i have made quite good experiences with nephil fighters. in fact they seem better at start to me than towards the end. usually i have bow higher than 6..... bless your archers and it shouldnt be a problem at all. however, sliths are probably the better choice still. monsters you have to attack from far away and are magic resistant/immune are very rare. -

if i remember correctly, there is a guitar-playing woman from avernum in kriszan. the first group was actually much more powerful in the beginning, only they were too arrogant. im wondering... there are some problems concerning that whole first-group-thing. as an example: anaximander got some early reports from the first exploration group (he knew in which directions they went after they split up), but he apparently doesnt know that fort emergence (and valorim) is quite much the middle of nowhere. -

well i guess the topic says enough to warn those who dont want to know. anyway: SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER after youve destroyed all the 4 plagues (slime, roach, golem, troglodyte), you get to know that the vahnatai, or more accurately rentar-ihrno have caused them. so you enter the quarantined footracer province in nw valorim, where you encounter the last plagues (alien beasts), which you dont have to destroy. you just move past them down under the keep of tinraya and into some newly settled vahnatai lands. you face rentar-ihrno and destroy her tower. badabingbadaboom youre in blackcrag fortress with empress prazac and anaximander, who make peace between the empire and avernum. -

i just recently made my peace with slith and nephil names. after all, its kinda weird to call a cat robert. for humans, i use elvish or mythic, sometimes middle-age names. like melwen, tharaias or whatever. hm i like tharaias. -

ive never encountered efreet around erikas tower, at least i dont remember any such encounter. its possible, though, that i just killed them liked that and didnt notice because my only party that got so far was a heavily edited one. -

you could, however, give yourself a special item, specifically the message from vothkaro for the mayor of sharimik. then just go and talk to him and youve completed the quest. -

appears throughout the avernums. i think, however, that sometimes the usual word "exile" is meant, not the name for the series of caverns you live in and the nation formed within. -

divine fire, because of the unique sound/animation and because priests can kick too! all spells got something to them, however... except slow, i hate that one. dont ask me why. well of course, shimmering ray and dumbfounding ray are the most annoying, but they are only available to monsters, so.. ah whatever. -

i thought about those large rocks, too, but considering my ability to memorize names, i assumed i was thinking about the wrong towns. imo it would be much more fun and realistic if the avernites would join rentar and erika and cleanse the surface from the empire before resettling it. -

How fun is it to go around destroying towns like Shayder? very. Why can't the Empire, Avernites, and Vahnatai just get along? they do, in the end. more or less, at least. Who else besides me is going to see Spongebob Squarepants, or buy the DVD? im not. Wouldn't it be fun to work for the Empire exterminating Avernum, or work for Erika destroying her Empire enemies and finding a cure for her sun phobia? it would. (Isn't it wierd that they both begin with an E and have i & r in them.) dont think so. What are the buildings with no doors in Bengaro, Aminro, and Storm Port? dont know nothing about them. -
Dispel Barrier

thats because you have done the last thing you needed to do in that mission. actually, all that briefing stuff etc is just for the story, you dont actually have to get a mission to complete it. for example, if you get the crystal from the bandits before you even enter ghikra, you will still get a soul crystal as a reward. of course, this doesnt work if you have to get access to something from the one who gives you the quest. bla. -
i also use to get hsska as early as possible. note however, that though there is a list somewhere that says hsska has natural mage, he doesnt. you will have to make him appear in the 4. slot so that he gets it. (slot 1 gives elite soldier, slot 4 natural mage, 2 and 3 nothing) if you dont, his very good combat abilities will be quite much wasted. spellcasters actually dont really need any equipment at all if you play them right, however i suggest you give them as much resistance and speed as possible, less chance being hit isnt bad either.
