The nephilim language
Rent-an-Ihrno replied to Thralni's topic in Avernum Trilogy (2000-2002 original versions)
describe the pronounciation in another way, simply. what we were discussing about was why the previous explanations were problematic. -

excuse my absence, ive been busy. ill just ignore the last written page. ive read the wikipedia definitions on Rs, and again, the site has shown its worthlesseness. ive seen many stupid and wrong explanations before on wikipedia, but that really takes the cake, since its not subjective at all. the german r is an alveolar one. it tended to uvular 100-50 years ago, and even then only partly. dont trust wikipedia, trust an ihrno. i give my balls for the alveolar. -
blades cannot die! i hope to get it for my birthday, march 21st, and then i will bombard you with the best scenarios you can imagine, im telling ya!

sry kelandon (or may i say kel? ), but im not used to that vocabulary in english. ill see through it. thralni, your tabels are a little confusing. and the counter on the main page doesnt count all the visitors, but only my own visits. -

those varieties of the german R are definately dying out. one can sometimes hear it in comedy shows, but its really not to be considered in this subject. there are of course accentuated Rs, but the differences are so small foreigners surely wont notice. the uniform R i would describe as the standard fore-mouth trill, but a few millimeters further into the throat. what about word order/sentece build ? -

the german r definately is the german r. there are hardly any dialects that use a slightly different one. i know, i live in austria. i think that transitive/intransitive-discussion is going in circles. id look after completing the conjugations and the work on the vocabulary. -

returned a scroll.... hmmm.... i was about to say thats a2, but now i tend to think its a1.... regardlessly, hitting the "make towns forgive you"-option should do. -

btw thralni, you forgot to write tailok in the top of the conjugation tabels. ive been studying latin for 3 years now, but im a fast learner ^^ i must admit though that my english is far from perfect, so if i say something really stupid concerning nephilian/technical language-stuff, its probably because i dont know what you or myself is saying. oh, and there is no "racht" in german. but, for example, "rammbock", "randstein", "ratte", "rad", "rascheln", "rhapsodie", "rachen"...... id like to see more imperative forms, like "he shall do", "lets do".... you know? -

im studying latin atm, and i dont think your definition of the ablativus instrumentalis is 100% accurate. in "he killed him with a sword", the sword would be an AI. in "he was killed by him", the him would also be ablative, but im not sure if its instrumentalis. there are 20 other ablatives... i would rather say: "the ablativus instrumentalis is used for beings or objects that are used by somebody/something else for doing something." or something like that. change the grammar and the two "used", and it should be fine. -
Geneforge 4: "Not a Shaper"
Rent-an-Ihrno replied to Slariton's topic in Geneforge Series - Originals
i dont play geneforge, but its development interests me. since most people agree that jeff messed avernum 4 up, and most bad features came from geneforge, id like to see whether geneforge 4 stays quite much the same, like spidweb-games tend to do, or it really changes to the better. then i might buy it. i like the basic idea. always have. ps: no offense, great spiderweb-masters, i love all of you and your products, but hey, there you go. -
are those all the codes? i could use one for more gold... i also doubt these cheats are supposed to be secret. but i think its cooler if theyre more special and mysterious, valuable... you know? than the old editors. but hey i actually hate a4, i just want to get on fast to see if its possible i could begin to like it.

Is this game nothing but combat?
Rent-an-Ihrno replied to Walker White's topic in Second Avernum Trilogy
what i dislike most about the unending fighting in a4 is that you dont walk around from city to city in outdoors-view and see a bunch of monsters roaming around, which you can fight or not, but you walk and walk and walk in the same damn view all the time and dont get 5 seconds peace until the next unnecessary little monsters pops out. i dont think its hard, only annoying. very, very, very annoying. actually, so far, i hate a4. -
Requests for future games
Rent-an-Ihrno replied to Raemon777's topic in Avernum Trilogy (2000-2002 original versions)
i think youre absolutely right in all points, and it is a good complaint, because realizable. not sure about the forum though but hm ok, i actually was satisfied with the fonts... dont remember what the changes were over the years. but id hate something like times, over these hundreds and thousands of pages to be read in a spidweb game. -

I wonder what would happen....
Rent-an-Ihrno replied to Foley's Body's topic in Avernum Trilogy (2000-2002 original versions)
charedit the day doesnt work, does it? it doesnt with the tom event... does every town get destroyed? blackcrag? the dragons lair? wainscotting? fort emergance? do dialogues change with every new state of destruction? i think in exile 3 it changed at least once or twice. -
stupid empire army!!
Rent-an-Ihrno replied to Espionage's topic in Avernum Trilogy (2000-2002 original versions)
maybe the whole thing is just for getting gold and xp. or maybe, jeff simply wanted to get on our nerves, as he so often uses to. -
A3 - Stuck in Slimy Valley
Rent-an-Ihrno replied to aheisey's topic in Avernum Trilogy (2000-2002 original versions)
as mentioned by alorael, he was actually named jordan by his parents. if walking into every wall you can find is too much for you, just use far sight. you should have lvl 2 by then. -

naming a character in Avernum
Rent-an-Ihrno replied to mistica's topic in Avernum Trilogy (2000-2002 original versions)
naming humans is easy, naming sliths is ok (mine is usually Hss-Thss, descendant of the great Sss-Thss), but how the hell do you name a nephil?
