  2. Thadh Shades are quite useful. They are diffcult to hit, soak up dmg well, seem practically immune to poison, and hit for decent dmg.
  3. I really want to see more crafting, but not so much with trivial items like wands of fire (not worth using a stick for). I also want a greater variety of low-level creations, possibly even a new catagory of creatures aside from Fire, Battle, and Shaping. Starting every game with a fyora is ... meh.
  4. Grrrr. I liked alchemy. And hiden doors. And meaningful plots.
  5. I get my slith spearman to tank, while my nephil archer chips away at the pylons (both hasted). I cure the slith after each pylon dies, so he takes very little poison dmg while the other pylons and Kravit become more poisoned with each pylon that dies.
  6. That's why I love Blizzard. All their games are hybrid: they can be installed onto either Mac or Windows from the same disk. And saying that Jeff should publish for Windows first because more people used Windows is saying that the majority is always right. This, of course, is false. (see GWB, for example).
  7. I'm not convinced that archery rocks to the degree advertised. My nephil (specializing in archery & tool use) does a bit over 20 dmg with arrows to enemies my slith fighter does 40+ dmg to. Of course, I'm still under lvl 7, and the slith has a iron spear whereas the nephil has a yew bow.
  8. Can you not produce your own potions anymore? Is there any point to keeping all the herbs and such I find?
  9. Um, so how did Jeff redesign Alchemy, besides making you unable to brew your own potions?
  10. Dodge pylons, Alo? I thought you were supposed to touch the pylons.
  11. Nah. You can blame everything on Jesus. That's what he's there for.
  12. I once beat a man to death with a tea strainer. Pick me!
  13. Is there still keyboard movement and aiming, or is it all mouse-based?
  14. "Some of those bows are so nasty in their effect that it's tempting to use them in favour of actual physical damage." Hmm. Acid/poison effect per hit, instead of pure physical? Can you say if Envenom made a return from the Exile series? That always was a fun spell. Actually, I like poisoned weapons in almost any game
  15. Enemies that charm when you stab em? Wow. Sounds nasty. Those are late-game, right?
  16. The problem with gremlin wine is that it gets you so drunk you can't hit anything, even while it blesses/shields you. On the other hand, it goes down easy, with a full and slightly sweet flavor, good with weird meat.
  17. For most of the Avernum series, my favorite layout has been: 1: Nephil swordsman/archer with tool use. 2: Slith spearman/javlineer with first aid 3: Human priest with potion making/cave lore 4: Human mage with arcane lore. Lately I've started giving my fighters a point or two of mage and priest so that they can heal /bless themselves, cast light, or cast Bolt of Fire.
  18. So I killed some sheep at Secluded Retreat (or however it's spelled) because I didn't like how they were looking at me, and now all of Bigail hates me. I needed some mutton, guys. Sheesh!

I always give my fighters at least 1 lvl each of Mage and Priest, so that they can cast Light Bolt of Fire, Heal, Cure, and Bless. Lvl 3 BoF is respectable when you have no missile weapon equipped or are out of ammo.
