Ineffable Wingbolt MMXPERT-seraph of thermodynamics
Post on your amazing discoveries on how to be a tycoon in Averforge, Genenum, Netherdon, or Avagate. My way is universal: Walk straight up to an adventurer and tell him about the incredibly important ending-changing artifact that he should acquire if he's any good. Have another man sell the "artifact" for an insane ammount of coins, and have him explain that it's use will be incredible eventually, only as good as it is secret. Then split the money with the man. Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
Send a plague of monsters into a town to drive off its inhabitants. Then loot the town since there are no longer any guards or locals to object. If you select the proper monster you can also get loot from killing them too. Garrulous Glaahk Questionably Legal
Start a shop in a central city, buy loot & treasure off adventurers for 1/100th of it's actual worth, sell at high price, repeat.
Rotghroth Rhapsody The Reverend
1) Open a store. 2) Pick some rare item that adventures really like. 3) Stock a small number of them. 4) Stock a bunch of other easy to find, over priced items. 5) Refuse to restock any sold-out items until every item in the store is bought out. 6) Profit!! Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
Strike a deal with the only Avernite priest can that remove the Dread Curse to split the price. Then erect statues with cheap jewels on them that trigger a Dread Curse when adventurers remove the jewels.
Hatchling Cockatrice Alorael at Large
Ask adventurers to bring you expensive items like gems. Make it a quest! Then pay less than market value. If you really need enticement you can throw in piddling amounts of experience. It helps if you hint at, but do not promise, a much bigger reward if you get enough gems. —Alorael, who also recommends charging for access to a dungeon. It doesn't even have to be a good one. Adventurers are suckers for dungeons.
Unflappable Drayk Edgwyn
Making it a quest is the perfect plan. If you don't put any limit on the number of items that the adventurers can turn in, soon they will have looted the entire countryside of that item and you will have a monopoly so you can sell them all over again to your fellow villagers at an exorbitant price. Then you just change what item you are collecting and they will do it again and again until you have a monopoly over all items while the adventurers did all of the dirty work. Rotghroth Rhapsody Prince of Kitties
Learn how to enchant flaming weapons, and do so for parties of adventurers. Sell skill potions on the black market. Learn a couple levels of mage/priest spells, and bet adventurers outrageous sums of money that they can't beat you in a mindduel. Hatchling Cockatrice Alorael at Large
Find the reagent that's the limiting factor in something important, probably making knowledge brews. Cultivate it and sell it high prices. —Alorael, who bets there's also a market for adventurers for hire by adventurers. No one wants to clear out another cave full of goblins, so offer to take on the easy, boring sidequests for a fee.
