Unflappable Drayk adc.
Has anyone heard of this? -------- The site is full of information and it's where I've got most walkthroughs on AV3. Anyway, has she participated on the forums? -------- -Harehunter's is also one, Nightwatcher
Hatchling Cockatrice Mea Tulpa
Rache was a member here, but that was a very, very, long time ago: close to a decade.
Understated Ur-Drakon Tyranicus
There is a link to it in the header of the First Avernum Trilogy forum.
Well-Actually War Trall Actaeon
Was Rache German, or a big Sherlock Holmes fan?
Hatchling Cockatrice Lilith
I'm going to guess she was someone named Rachel who had a nickname.
Hatchling Cockatrice Alorael at Large
Rache isn't German, but some of the hosting and possibly other site work was done by ef, who is. —Alorael, who still uses that site, which at least at one time existed in two places in slightly different forms, as his primary source of A3 information. Well-Actually War Trall Actaeon
... Yes, I do, but as Dire Hobbit observed, the reference stems from the very first book by Conan Doyle (although the Rache/Rachel element is inverted). You might also check out that speech Sherlock gives Watson about a mobile phone and compare it to one about a pocket watch in "The Sign of Four". Moffat is a master of subtle (and not so subtle) references, in addition to being a brilliant screenwriter in general.
Magnificent Ornk Student of Trinity
I do not watch Sherlock, but you know, there's this funny, archaic medium called 'print'. Believe it or not, it was all text. Like Zork, if you can imagine, only not interactive. At all. But people used to do this thing called 'reading'. And, sometimes, they'd remember what they'd read. A Study in Scarlet couldn't make up its mind about Holmes. On the one hand, he was proudly ignorant of the Copernican solar system. On the other hand, he knew enough German to recognize a random noun, and claim familiarity with typical German handwriting styles. Obviously this just didn't make sense. It was all very well to say that Holmes didn't want to know anything that wasn't relevant to his profession, but in fact any random obscure fact might turn out to be relevant to that profession. And given Conan Doyle's need for publications, it probably would. So by the next installment, Holmes had entirely abandoned his anti-intellectualism, and was a thoroughgoing polymath quoting Goethe at every opportunity. Magnificent Ornk nikki.
As there is nothing at all to do in England, ever, I've watched Sherlock and read the texts (well, some of them).
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
Sherlock uses the fact that Sherlock Holmes keeps only relevant information in his head for the 3rd episode of season 1. He's standing before a painting and trying to figure out how the dead guy knew it was a forgery.
