Seasoned Roamer vstef96
I searched through the forums and found some topic with a drakon mod, but the link is broken and i really want a drakon mod, can anyone make a drakon mod? (i think its utterly hard right?).Do not ask me to make it because i utterly fail at messing with the scripts or anything.
Ineffable Wingbolt Lord Safey
I don't think this has been done.
Seasoned Roamer vstef96
It has been done, but the link going to the download is broken soooo, can anyone can make a drakon mod?
Well-Actually War Trall The Ratt
It depends on what you want done to the drakons. Also know that any stat boosts you give drakons will affect your drakons and enemy drakons.
Easygoing Eyebeast Dantius
No downloads necessary, here's what you do. You edit the creature definition for the Shock Trooper, and change the number "cr_graphic_template" to 85. Beware, if you equip a sword, you turn into an Eyebeast, and if you equip a baton, you turn into a golem. The creature definition is in the g5itemschars.txt file in the data folder in your game location.
Magnificent Ornk Student of Trinity
I've never really thought about script editing, though I've looked at lots of Geneforge scripts. So I wonder something: Just how far is it possible to go in customizing the game by editing scripts? Could you entirely re-write the story, effectively having a 'Blades of Geneforge' that was unfortunately tied to the same terrain as the original game? I only ask from idle curiosity, since the constraint of keeping the terrain the same would probably make it fairly dull to totally revise the game. The most that would likely be worth doing would be a few cosmetic changes here and there, if you wanted to spell a few things out more clearly than Jeff does. You couldn't easily change the endings, because those are hard-coded into the game. So that would be something of a stumbling block.
Ineffable Wingbolt Øther
You could change a lot of things, though. You probably could alter the landscape a bit, definitely the characters and dialogue, and if you are willing to do the work, maybe even some of the pictures. But in the end, I don't think it would be a very good use of time....

You'd have the same items lying around and same placement of NPCs, since those are hard-coded as well. Dikiyoba.
Chittering Clawbug Golgoth
Is there some way to add on to the hard-codes?
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
No, that part is blocked without the source code.

Chittering Clawbug Golgoth
Oh i seem to be conused on what the source code is.
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
Source code is the original computer code, in this case written in C++ that is compiled to make the hard code executable file that you play. The scripts for the zones are in a format that can be edited and some of the data files can also be changed once you know what the information means. Chittering Clawbug Golgoth
So in a sense its hardwired into the game and messing with it is nearly impossible and ill advised?
Magnificent Ornk Dikiyoba
Yes. (In fact, even though you can edit the scripts easily, Dikiyoba doesn't advise it unless you know what you're doing and don't mind the risk that it'll mess up your game.)
