Well-Actually War Trall Spidweb
There is a glitch in Geneforge 5 that, despite multiple attempts, I have not been able to fix. At the end of the very first zone, you fight a vlish. When the vlish is defeated, there is a dialogue window, and then, very very rarely, the cutscene does not continue. If you get this problem, let me know at spidweb@spiderwebsoftware.com or post in this thread. If you can send a screenshot of the frozen screen, it would be very useful. If not, let me know, 1. After you hear someone shouting "Enough!", all of your characters should walk up to the door to the south. Do they? Do they ever stop fidgeting around? 2. Does the door to the south open? 3. What did the last dialogue window that appeared before the game froze say, roughly? There are several dialogue windows there, and it would be helpful to know exactly which one precedes the problem. I think it is the one that says "Enough of this chaos! Step forward and present yourself, so that this minor scuffle can be resolved." but I'm not sure. Thanks all for any info you can provide. - Jeff Vogel
Understated Ur-Drakon Nioca
I can't say much about the Vlish fight, but I had something similar occur in the Western Core. Click to reveal.. (Consideration, for those that haven't gotten this far yet.) I prepared to enter the room with the Servant Mind Presence. I walked up to the door, said enter, and... nothing. It went to cutscene and then just sat there. The door never opened, and the party never moved close to it. They just sat there until I force-quit the game. Before attempting to enter, I had triggered the dialog accidentally when I was escorting Kurt (or whatever the trapped soldier's name is) out and told it no. Later, I told it no again when I got a little closer than I intended and wanted to heal my party before entering. I also tried entering it from a rather odd side-angle. I reloaded the game and tried again, and it didn't have a problem. I didn't try to get the error to reproduce itself, since I thought it might be a one-off thing, and since it worked properly later. Just thought this might help.
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
I had the same problem at the Western Core that you did 3 times in a row when I reloaded. Jeff suggested a trying a different route to avoid it since no one else had seen it.
Chittering Clawbug Paladin95
Just now happened to me as well. It was solved by reloading and approaching the door from the west instead of the south.
Magnificent Ornk nikki.
I have played through those parts three times now, and have had no problems.
Garrulous Glaahk Pyro
not with the vlish but while in the west core going into the control room after the override my PC has further away then my creations I got the dialogue asking if i wanted to enter door I said yes and my creations moved (i think) while my PC didn't - the camera moved to my PC can't see creation and move or get out of cinematic mode... Ineffable Wingbolt Milla
My game did freeze once in the cut scene for meeting the presence the second time in the western part of the core. The door would open but nothing would move. Shutting down G5 and opening it again seemed to fix the problem. Playing the windows version. Well-Actually War Trall Spidweb
We have made some script fixes for the two problematic encounters in the hope that they will fix the problem. They are in Windows v1.0.1 and they will be in Mac v1.0.3. If anyone encounters one of these freezes again, please let us know, and we'll get back to work on it. - Jeff Vogel
Curious Artila GrimeHead
I have problems merely starting a new game, let alone battling Vlish. Firstly, no background image is displayed on the start-up screen and an odd box of what I assume might be a script of some sort is displayed in the corner of the screen. image of this I then proceed to 'New Game', the grey 'box of blocks' is still there and some text on the character menu is shaded out. I press 'OK' and a window appears and tells me that Geneforge 5.exe must close right away. image of this
