  1. Dis no sp4m. Why isn't there a Change topic name option? No seriously, I remember UBB having that (and I miss that place). Or is it hidden so well that you're calling me Lee Sin? If there isn't any, can I ask from a mod to have it changed? ----- -Dolan -Nightwatcher
  2. I think Avernum 3 is similar to that. And yes, Avernum does have its lower, main and upper sections. But I don't think there will ever be a seventh, because Jeff is holding a cupful of Avadon. I can't really say anything about your suggestions. As a fifteen year old, I haven't played PnP nor Skyrim. But if you're talking about D&D Online, then I have all the answers I'll try to answer them though. 1.) Yes. I would vouch for that. But sometimes, you need to keep a keen eye out for stuff like that as an added difficulty by Jeff. 2.) No trouble with that. I don't use archers. 3.) That appeared on Avernum 3, but I doubt that you'll appreciate pixel changes in armor 4.)... 5.) I hate that part, but that's the consequence of my laziness. You have to click square by square to cross any obstructions. 6.)... 7.) Yes, even so does D&D Online limits you to two rings. But enhancements don't stack if you have the same bonus. Like +2 Charismatic helm and a +1 Charismatic +5 Perform cloak. You get no benefit from those 8.) That happens on Geneforge, but with added price. 9.)... ----- -Nightwatcher
  3. Cursed items are not to be touched at all costs. It will decrease your stats in many, many ways. If you have an unidentified item, you should probably go and speak to a sage about it. Most cursed items are rings, such as Ring of Idiocy, Ring of Grief, Magnetic Ring, Clumsy ring etc. ----- -Nightwatcher
  4. And what's fun is when you spend at least 3 skill pts in mechanics early in the game, it is so awesome. Jeff will pamper you early in the game, which makes it much more easier. Leadership is quite useful too, to convince people to do what you want. Luck is not as much useful as those two. I don't spend points on luck. I only add points to it in Avernum 3. In there, when you receive a lethal blow; bringing your health below 0, you receive a message saying "-insert name here- lucks out!!!" and then you fortunately cheat death ----- -Nightwatcher
  5. My parents have bought me Avernum 3,6 and Escape from the Pits. From what I have observed in the story, Avernum was found by some emperor, and poured all the criminals and misfits in there, like water (That's what Erika said in A:EftP) And the series are... well... I can't explain it clearly, but I have noticed that the main plot is actually hidden behind, and it's bigger than you'll expect. And it the main plot changes in every series. Like in AV3, you are told to explore the surface, there were slimes, you kill them, you find out what and who created it etc. but at the end, it was actually the Vahnatai who created all the monstrosities in the surface, as a revenge. And in AV6, there was a spread of famine across Avernum, which is called the Blight. See the difference? Also, plot summaries are located here: http://www.spiderwebsoftware.com/products.html Choose from Windows/Mac then there will be a description. They are quite short, and simplified, if you don't like reading too much summaries. I am not older than 15, so I don't understand this part. I know what Pen and Paper is, but haven't tried them. If you're talking about Avernum, then I have no idea how PnP and Avernum is related. ----- -Nightwatcher
  6. Update: Unstable Disguise mod: Sure, Halloween costumes are quite expensive, and trick-or-treating gets boring enough, especially when they give you two or three pieces of candy. But with this mod, you can disguise into creatures nevaar seen before! You might even get diabetes from too much candy (which is not included in the pack), or join a Drakon-only Harlem shake party. But beware, you must take a shower first (which you can't do in the game) since creatures can pick up your stench, and they'll suspect that you're only a disguised person. (I made it real quick, because I accidentally pressed the back button's shortcut and the actual post got erased   ) http://shardsofravage.ucoz.net/index/downloads_and_mods/0-13 Tell me what you think, and suggest creations to transform you into. I am studying Visual Basic to make a program that auto-edits the script in a single radio button click. ----- -Nightwatcher

  8. Most crystals are just gold in another form. Look for people who would buy them, they would buy for it for a better price than normal shops, I know of one that buys iron bars, he is in the first city you will cross. But keep an eye out for special named crystals. Like flawless etc. People would need them, one is Sharon in her grove. ----- I thought you know about this? Sorry, I have mistaken you for Trenton ----- -Nightwatcher
  9. Yeah. What Lilith said. I cheated my skill points to over 9000 using CE and I raised all of them into 30. When I shaped my first fyora, it was in level 19 and could do 73+ damage. It's not worth it. If you want to have a creature upgrade then you must get 3 points of Create -insert creature name here-. Having one point of it gives you the ability to shape the creature. Having two points of it, I don't know what it does, but makes your creature probably a little stronger. Having three points of it gives you an upgraded form of the creature. ----- Also, stick to your creations. They become stronger and gain XP. Don't absorb them when unneeded, make full use of them while you still can. ----- -Nightwatcher
  10. LIES! Where did you get them? Probably from 4chan. ----- No. Don't listen to them. Concentrating in a shaping skill may help you succeed, but there are various enemies throughout the game. Let's say, there's a Glaahk with a decent resistance to magic, but weak when hit physically. When you only concentrate at magic, you may be able to create Glaahks, artilas to fight the creature. Then it takes time to take down the enemy. Another example is, the same Glaahk, but now you have a clawbug, a roamer and a thahd. A clawbug does physical damage, as well as the thahds. Plus the roamer for support. The Glaahk won't be able to resist much damage or none at all. Try to be versatile. Sure, concentrating on a Shaper school might be a good idea, but it has its disadvantages. It depends upon your preference. You may be one step behind in creating creatures, but at least you have a variety of them. Also, try to train your character with magic and a few points of endurance, to be able to withstand some damage. ----- -Nightwatcher
  11. I too am running under Windows 8 64-bit. Tell me, hmmm. I have no problems at all, except when guards/npc say something as they walk, it lags (not delay lag, but the fps drops somewhere below 13-16). It is normal for Geneforge 1,2,3 as they have pretty rusty game engines 4 and 5 are quite new. ----- I don't know if this solves the problem, but try running it in compatibility mode for Windows XP Service Pack 2 or 3. Or on Windows 7. Right click Geneforge (preferably the shortcut)>Properties>Compatibility>Tick the box, then choose. ----- I don't really have a problem on lags, I used to have a netbook once. And no, your PC specs are super, you don't need to upgrade some video card thinggy or something. Geneforge 1-5 ran well on our old PC, and yes, it's still laggy. ----- As Halt said, you might as well try to run it in a window. ----- Welcome to Spiderweb Software. Please leave any remaining sanity on the door. Looking for ways to lessen lag on a 12 GB RAM + intel core i7 machine might help feeding it to the fluffy turtles. ----- -Nightwatcher
  12. I recommend: Guardian. I also recommend Shapers, but shapers are quite weak in Geneforge 1. Enemies can dismember you easily even when you're behind 7 proxies. Shapers in Geneforge 1 can shape only a few creations, and they heavily rely on searer or burning spray for protection. Guardians are so tough at starting game that you can send them to the Moon in a blink or turn the whole area into Mordor. Guardians can withstand damage from simple creatures and can usually one-hit-kill them. They can also shape at least one or two fyoras in the starting game for support. But I recommend Shapers on Geneforge 3-5 as they've got decent resistances and a good health bar. They can also shape fyoras, which are quite strong too. Also, another tip is, do not go east from Vakkiri, it will drive you insane. You must venture there when you are quite good with the game. ----- -Nightwatcher
  13. (Oh come on Lilith!) ----- (Not again!) To elaborate furthermore, some scenario designers have different ideas, and they're no mediocre, they add a few, special codes which weren't taught in the docs. Like Kelandon's Bahssikava or TM's Canopy: Manufactured Womb. Jeff would explore little by little the endless possibilities that might happen, while debugging them if needed. ----- That's the point, it might take 500,000 years of experience and a truckload of Praxis points and augs. Also, yes, from the beginning, it would need a lot of plot rework. Let's say, Andras slew Ellrah, then he joined no sect, whilst escaping the island. Then there would be no Awakened. Which will affect the other series that follows. ----- -Nightwatcher

    Hello

The raven would recommend: Look at my signature. ----- GENEFORGE!!! I think you could get the whole saga for the price of one on Steam. Aaaany waaay, why Geneforge you ask? Because if you don't, I'll eat your bwains. Geneforge is different. It might not have any bows and arrows, real RPG combat style, like trip or decisive blow etc, but it is like entering a new dimension. Shapers create medieval technologies, like picking a door requires a living tool, not Garrett's lockpick. Or some kind of bred, living batons that shoot thorns. You can shape your creation and fight for what's right. It might not sound much like hack-slash RPGs that you see everyday, but the story is flawless, the way they act, in a different universe. What I said might not be convincing enough, but try it for yourself, you won't regret it. ----- Anyway, it depends on what you prefer, but I recommend Geneforge. ----- -Nightwatcher
  15. Has anyone else ever thought of this idea? ----- *****(|POSSIBLE SPOILERS!!!|)***** What if the Geneforge itself, was connected, forged anew. Geneforge is connected. But I mean, like, it depends on your actions. For example: (My dad haven't bought Geneforge 1 and 2, so I have limited knowledge about them, I only know much about 3,4 and 5) You joined the Rebels in Geneforge 4, you were loyal to them blah blah blah, but at the end, Or It has many limitless possibilities. Unfortunately, I don't think Jeff would look back at Geneforge (but I do hope he does, it's a masterpiece!). Even if Geneforge is his top priority, it would take about 500,000 years with experience and a truckload of Praxis Points and augs. ----- Any other possibilities that can be made? It would be fun to know. ----- -Nightwatcher
  16. You mean the PowerPoint Presentation? I used to do those in PowerPoint but not the Avernum graphics, just some lame comic strips. ----- Also, thank you for the idea. I am now going to make my own too for teh sake of the lulz ----- -Nightwatcher
  17. Yes, yes they do. Avoid fights with: Empire Dervishes Doomguards Erika Town Guards Chuck Norris and Bruce Lee ----- -Nightwatcher
  18. In before the lock... ----- -Nightwatcher
  19. I only listen to music if I have time (which I don't have everyday). I like rock, metal like Bullet for my Valentine, Skillet, Linkin Park, Evanescence, Nightwish, Avenged Sevenfold, Dope, From first to Last etc. and classical, piano instrumentals like Beethoven's Symphonies, Fur Elise , Voltaire etc. But I like Lacie's Melody above all. ----- I don't like pop, rap, country, Kpop, Encyclopedia Dramatica etc. ----- -Nightwatcher
  20. Cool. Thanks guys for the info, I didn't want to restart back at Rawal's dump back again. ------ Post number 600 ------ -Nightwatcher
  21. So I've played and completed Geneforge 5 twice; one on the Shaper's side, one on the rebel's. But what's the difference between the classes? Lifecrafter or Shaper? Infiltrator or Agent? Warrior or Guardian? What's the difference? Do Lifecrafters receive bonus reputation in doing quests for the rebels? Or is it just Jeff's option to let the player choose whose robe/armor seems cooler? Because I've noticed for once as I played as a Servile, there is a special conversation dialogue which you can choose when you see the rogue servile at North Mera Road. You can tell him that you're a servile too, so he should let you pass (which convinces him). ------ -Nightwatcher
  22. Just to add more details, stick to clawbugs, as they deal both poison (or acid?) physical damage. In my opinion, vlishes + clawbugs are pretty decent creatures in the game till you reach the better ones. ----- -Nightwatcher
  23. Oh alright. I'll be discontinuing it, besides, somebody beat me to it (I hate it when that happens). ----- I was thinking about Geneforge 4? ----- -Nightwatcher
  24. Oh ok, thanks for the reply. I was wondering: Is my (journal) walkthrough going to be is going to be included in the Strategy Central? I've always wanted to write a walkthrough for Geneforge 5 since it's the first Geneforge game I've played, and I've went through it several times. Well, you could always say no, since it's incomplete... ----- -Nightwatcher
  25. Plus a few more questions to ask: Is my disclaimer okay (I am paranoid at copyright stuff)? My template sucks. Do I need to improve it? Do I suck? Fine if that's what you want > It is my first walkthrough anyway. So any suggestions? Recommendations? How do you like it? I also found out there weren't any strategy central for Geneforge 5. The Walkthrough: Discontinued ----- -Nightwatcher EDIT: I CALL DIBS! FOR GENEFORGE 4 WALKTHROUGH!
