  1. Well, Valorim was kind of like the Exile of the Empire. It was a frontier land where some misfits and rugged rougish types moved. All of the settlements were fairly new, and the only important resources were the gems around Monroe Province (where, in no coincidence, Baziron commands). The one army that's there (3rd Empire Army) is content to sit back and survive in its little cove, and the Alien Beasts really are a threat to Empire soldiers.

Yes, and this was something I raised in my beta reports. There are an inordinate amount of offensive spells and "shielding" spells. I'd prefer a group haste, group bless, and more disabling spells. Slow/web/paralyze/sleep etc.
  3. GF4 will come before Avernum 5, so you guys calling for it to be out ASAP will be a little disappointed.
  4. It's easy to parry with a spear, but more difficult to riposte (IRL). In-game, it's all the same. Makes it less complicated.
  5. This is good - must bookmark.
  6. The best riddles in Exile III came from the gremlins in the dryad grove.
  7. It could be that the rebels easily sacrifice servile lives, and they feel that they'd survive better by helping the Shapers.
  8. You start out as a rebel but can switch to the Shaper side.
  9. I'm pretty sure that you can wait - have you tried pressing '5' or the space bar? And isn't there a little clock-type button you can push?

  12. It was Wyrmfire, not Akhronath. EDIT: And he did about a third, I did about a third, and *i did about a third.
  13. BoE is the board of education. BoE is more popular than BoA.
  14. It's basically the same - the one on my website is older but there are very few changes.
  15. It was regular Magic damage and it had a cool sound effect. My personal favorite spell from the Anama was Avatar, though.

Why do I find this statement ironic when we consider your scenario design record? It's not hard to believe, since they stop being fun
  17. For me, fun and ease are directly correlated. Maybe not ease of doing, but ease of completion.
  18. Do all of the little dungeon sidequests that you can. There should be a zombie temple and some Nephilim for you to clear out, and maybe some other random dungeons. But the river descent isn't very difficult anyway.
  19. I agree with pretty much everything said The hardest time is the third quarter. In the middle something IRL can pop up and distract. At this point, you start getting into the dialogue of people you don't really care about. Coding has never been a problem for me - making innovative sequences is fun, even though most of you have never seen them

  21. It makes fighting demons (especially Grah-Hoth) easier.
  22. It wouldn't be the Empire or Avernum making cannons, but rebellious splinter groups without mages might put in the effort.
  23. It could not be made with any form of Basic.
