  1. After smashing my way through geneforge 2 on torment with a guardian, i have decided to give geneforge 4 a try. But wait, i will not be doing the game justice if i do it as just a plain fighter as my previous games. Oh no, i will be using either a servile or warrior in this playthrough with magic augmented into my fists. No melee, or missiles. Im guessing this will be very hard even on normal, but hey ill give it a shot. Im going to go with the idea that strength is the only thing that gives a to hit bonus to my fists, other than luck. So luck, strength, quick action (very needed) and parry. With that, I am going to decide if i bring one creation along. If i do, i might as well stick with a guardian or warrior. I might just do it without though. Servile will be tailored to making a very powerful monk, but guardian/warrior fits more to the monk as healing/clerical goes to a monk more. So..any thoughts before i plunge into oblivion. Heh
  2. Truly, I would like for jeff to keep making games where the class defines the unique experience you get. Avadon does that so well (even more so than geneforge did) because you can use 3 different classes one go and play it almost completely different through skills a second go. Besides epic stories, epic characters like redbeard really are a welcoming change for SWS. I found that the more i played avadon, the more i wanted to know about redbeard and why he is the way he is.
  3. I never got passed that fight either. Was that supposed to be the last boss fight or were there more?
  4. My operating system is windows 7 (32 bit) and i have all the specs. I have encountered problems with 2 games in total of spiderweb's games. All other games work. The games that provide trouble are avernum 4 and geneforge 3. Geneforge 3 is actually so slow, I have been forced to quit trying. Jeff will hopefully remake 1-3 of the geneforge games in the future.
  5. Minority I may be, the only gripe i had with avernum 4 was the slow animations and slowdown. Other than that, it was one of my favorites. I didnt like games after that because the battle disciplines. The fact that mages can use them and archers as well, it made the game too munchkiny. I thought that mages and archers should have gotten their own little thing, but whatever. 5 and 6 still get props for running smoothly which is the one reason why i might still give them another try in the future.
  6. I got to say that i really liked the 1st avernum trilogy a lot. I like the geneforge games too. However, the 2nd avernum trilogy was kind of shocking to me. I couldnt get into the story of them compared to the 1st trilogy. I probably would say i liked avadon more than the 5th and 6th avernums. I mean come on, the 5th avernum you are playing as the empire- the bad guys. The 4th was a different story though. It actually had an engaging story and i would have labeled it as one of the better ones, but the problem still exists that the animations were slow and glitchy for win 7 users. Other than that, it was fun. In the end, i dont think that the 2nd trilogy should have happened. It didnt relate to one another like the 1st trilogy. The 1st trilogy was relative. The 1st game related and was crucial to the building of the 2nd, just as the 2nd was to the 3rd. After the remakes, jeff might want to stay away from making another avernum. If anything, i think that it would be cool if avernum 4 could be remedied a bit. I also heard that geneforge 3 had the same problem with win 7. Im lucky i have 32 bit as i dont think 64 bit would work even at all. These are just thoughts as i am a big fan of jeff's games and want to see him make many more in the future.
  7. Wow, exile is very different from the other games. I had no idea that dual wielding was in this series. Thats pretty cool. Assassination is in too and im pretty sure it works on ranged weapons this time. Can anyone confirm that?
  8. Im sorry, but i downloaded a few, they dont work. What is the exact version to go for and what do i do? -I suck at computers. Edit-nevermind, i got it
  9. I actually own blades of avernum. The main reason i stopped playing was that the 1st scenario took me about 8 hours and finally i stopped playing it due to the unclearness of it and countless frustrations. I never completed it. I never got really into the other 3 scenarios because i worried they were going to be just like the 1st-neverending, boring and frustrating. The only scenarios i ever completed were 2 scenarios made by other people and not jeff. Edit-I would play blades of exile now that its free but last time i tried to get the demo working, it wouldnt work. I think its too old on modern computers and i cant figure out that stuff.
  10. Im lookin for a recommendation for a game (that i can finish in a lifetime). I cannot stress that last bit as i find that games that are too big and long 25+hrs cause me to get distracted. I must have 20 games on gog and probably have only beaten 1 or 2 due to distractions. Ive played avernum's 1st series but they are way too big. What i need is something that really can grab me. The last game that did that was when I played geneforge 1. Like jeff's blog has stated, games that are really awesomesauce, allow you to not get distracted due to its awesomeness. I didnt like avadon either. Ive also played gene 2, 3 and 4 (which didnt work) as i really want to get into an avernum game instead of just geneforge. I played avernum4 and 5, but they were kind of meh. Is avernum 6 any good or is it just a lower quality gene game like avernum 4 and 5. Any recommendations for a game that i can complete in this lifetime?
  11. I would say you arent in luck. Ive yet to find a game that even remotely plays like spiderweb's games.
  12. Im playing the game as a shaman this time and am a little confused. While the shadowwalker pumps dex and endurance, and the BM pumps strength and endurance-What does the shaman pump. I was thinking of using javelins (so dex) mixed with magic. Should i pump dexterity and intelligence or dex and endurance? I am confused as every magic skill uses a different attribute for damage. I dont want to switch between dex and intelligence but i would prefer to stick with 2 attributes. Would 4 dex, 1 endurance be good every 5 levels. So 4 dex until level 5, then 1 endurance. Im not really sure what to do. Maybe i should stick with 4 dex, 1 intelligence. Could someone give me a good idea.
  13. Will this game be more like the 2nd avernum series (which rocked)or the Avadon series. I hope it is more like the 2nd avernum series because avadon was not really my fav.
  14. Haha, Im using assassination right now and it does not apply to ranged. However, anatomy does. The one thing which alludes me is whether the slith get a bonus to hardiness. It states almost something like that in both trilogies. Im still not sure if the slith do or do not. I think they might in the 2nd trilogy.
  15. Im playing this great game with one mindset in mind-To make the most roguish type character out there. That might not make sense but it does to me. Instead of relying on crazy brute strength like other fighters, my roguish type character will rely on the art of the bully, using assassination/character traits rising above everyone's level. Oh yes, I am going to rise above them all. Those fiends and dragons that you see fighting my warrior, my rogue will be picking on them! Those liches, Im going to point a finger and say: "Put my clothes in the wash....now!!!" Muahahhahaa
  16. I thought of using something else, but thahds are pretty cool. I read the faq on here about creation levels and powering through the game with a low creation and I really wanted to take a low creature through the game. So far its going good, i just think i need blessing magic. Im sure its entirely possible to get through normal with a low creature(thats leveled) like a thadh. Im they can do it on torment or tricky difficulty then im certain i can on normal.
  17. I am struggling through the last part of the 1st island. Me and bruno (my thahd) have destroyed most things up until now. Things are getting really tough. These spawners are giving me and bruno a tough time. Im trying to level him up, and me a bit too, but its been tough. My melee and combat skills are fine, but im not sure if i should get a point in blessing magic. I have war blessing, will that help? Any other pointers, the game's been pretty fun so far.
  18. A little off the topic of this thread, but regarding creations. It states that dexterity helps the monsters hit and evade, strenght affects damage and to hit/stun, intelligence is obvious as is enduranc. What does dex really do regarding creations? Does it help you hit like in avernum series or just evasion.
  19. Wait, Im not thinking clearly. If i am going to try that build, i should be making a guardian since i will be using a bit of shaping. Ill start with a creature from the beginning and work my way up through leveling, put melee up a bit but rely on quick action/parry morso due to daggers. I might take your advice on the drain life for weapon, but slow sounds nasty too. Got to love the possibilities.
  20. Well if that is the case i might have to step it up a bit. Maybe i should add something to the mix. NO battle magic, only daggers, mental magic and blessing magic, etc. That might make it challenging with mobs but not too horrofic.
  21. I was thinking about making a challenging character for geneforge 3. Ive played the 2nd game as an agent and the 1st game as a guardian, so I know the game engine. Ive read up that g3 has gem enhancements added with the game. Im thinking of making this character an agent that uses melee, but only wields daggers as her challenge. No swords just daggers. I will obviously have need of upgrading some of the better ones. Could someone that has played g3 a bit fill me in on the enhancements and their benefits. I would like this game to be something different instead of just the regular characters that everyone makes. Oh yeah, and will using a bit of shaping be useful for this build.
  22. So no one knows. Well im guessing that it doesnt get worse for experience bonus characters. Why would it decrease every time you get higher. I hope it isnt true as im currently in boa with a trait/negative character and am having a lot of fun. They already destroyed the bonus you get compared to the old school games. 20% for frail in second trilogies? Thats nothing.

  24. Hey i just started that scenario. Im looking for some skill trainers, is it better to go with the rebels for that or should i stick with the empire?
