  2. Actually I like how the minimap notes points of interest, though having different colors for explored or unexplored areas would be nice.

  4. The fast travel to any zone via the world map in Geneforge was quite nice. Though I would settle for quick teleport to only the major cities or landmarks if it would allow for an overworld map and towns like in Avernum 1-3. What would be really nice is if you could look at the world map and then click on any marker that was on it to "go there".
  5. How will the world map be handled? Will it have a large external world with towns and dungeons that can be entered like in Avernum 1 to 3, or will the world have only one scale and be broken up into regions such as was done for Avernum 4 to 6? Personally I would prefer the multi scale world of the first Avernum games.
  6. What about multiple endings and factions? Like in Geneforge where the factions and what you did for them affected the final outcome. Maybe the player will have the choice of either keeping the peace between Avernum and the Empire, or one or Avernite sepratist / oldschool Empire loyalist who want the other side completely wiped out. Maybe even working for the Vahnati to turn Avernum and The empire against each other! As for the new starting point, I'm guessing the player starts in Valorim at the new Avernite settlement they were thinking of building up there.
  7. The awakened seamed to be the most level headed of the factions so they were the ones I would usualy join. Hope they make a comeback in the next Geneforge game.
  8. Is there ever a peaceful ending to any of the Genforge games where the shapers and rebels are able to come to an agreement or treaty where they recognise the rights of creations in exchange for putting various controls on shaping to keep it from being used for evil? Or do all the endings have one side conquering the other?
  9. What other items should be collected, hung onto? Even if you only have a quest to collect one or two?
  10. Sister had an old PC with windows 98, but she sold it for 10$. Have to check around to see if we have any older machines. Allready signed up under a windows xp system though.

  12. Unfortunately I have OS 9.2 on my machine, that must be why I was having problems. Thanks for the info though.
  13. What am I supposed to do with DMG file the Gebeforge 4 demo came as? Is it supposed to be renamed? Why not realease the file as a standard Stuffit file?
  14. I've seen this bug to on the windows version and have posted it in the bugs thread. The calls do seam to work on the Mac version though. Hopefully this bug will be fixed for the next version for windows.
  15. Well, my thought was it would be a reward for finishing the game, and also since the previous Geneforges didn't come with a character editor it would be nice. Perhaps the editor should only be accessible as an egg of some sort or require the player to enter a cheat code after they've reached the Geneforge and won. Type "forgemygenes" or something like that. Does the scripting allow modifications of creations though?
  16. Perhaps for the next game you can have an option that when the player successfully reaches the Geneforge they can use it to edit thier character or creations. NPC companions will probably not to be to keen on you messing with thier DNA though.
  17. Well, idealy the questions would be answered by Jeff himself or a representative of Spiderweb Software, at least until the game is available to everyone. I don't want anybody to violate the NDA so that is why I suggested Spiderweb get final aproval of the answers.
  18. My main questions are what are the 5 available classes and what are thier strengths weaknesses. Are there any new types of creations and what other diferences/improvements are there over the previous Geneforge games. If anybody else has some questions they would like answered maybe they can post them here.
  19. Is there a FAQ for Geneforge 4 anywhere? I would like to find out more information about it. Spiderweb would have the final aproval of the FAQ and all its questions and answers.
  20. Well, what I was hoping was that any benefits from skill gains would be applied to the creature upon increase. So if you create a Fyora when you have 1 fire skill and 1 create Fyora, then later on your skill in fire is 5 and your skill in create Fyora is 4 after it gained 12 levels I would like it to be as if the Fyora had been originaly created with the skills at those values. It is probably to late to change the code to allow this, but can it possibly be done using a script?
  21. Would it be possible to make retroactive benefits for creations? For example say you make a Fyora when you only have one in fire shaping, Later your fire shaping improves. It would be nice if the bonuses gained from the increase can be retroactively applied to your creations. Having to absorb your old creations after they have gained levels to make stronger low level creations is rather bothersome
  22. I noticed that the tiles for blank areas kind of resemble blue water. But the tiles for water which show up as blue on the automap apear as black space on the screen.
  23. But doens't creating serviles require a HUGE amount of essence? That's why they were given the ability to reproduce, since creating new ones is such a pain. Otherwise the shapers could just knock out armies of them.
  24. Quote: Originally written by Phoenyx: The Sandmen, or Tusken Raiders, were in A New Hope, not Return, and they don't have snouts. However, the being that ratted them out to the Stormtroopers was long-snouted and in robes. It was the Jawas in thier big, huge sand crawler that sold R2 and C3PO that wore the robes. But they had no snouts, just light bulb eyes. And they got slaughtered by the stormtroopers.
  25. Serviles with the ability to shape would be cool. I could imagine rebels using the geneforge to change serviles to give them that ability and the abilty to use canisters. The player could also possibly be a hybrid offspring of a servile/human/shaper (one pair of the 3) that fell in love and had a child. New creations once you get your skill in the creature up to 5 are a must. I want my battle gamma! Instead of GIFTS there can be a hidden dungeon full of talking ornks! Or an insane servant mind that wishes to take over the world! or can at least leave its tray and walk around some, able to eat stuff other than the protien goop that they normaly eat.
