  1. Could someone please provide me with the Mac BoE program icons? The main program icon is available on the Older Games page, but not the scenario editor icon.
  2. Some of the Abyss is inaccessible and the Vahnatai lands are accessible. Otherwise it's the same caves.
  3. Wound is unblockable damage, but it has a shorter range than Flame. Unless there's a bug I'm forgetting, buffs and debuffs can only have up to 8 levels. If your characters are already well blessed and hasted, which is easy with higher level spells, it can free up your spellcasters for dealing damage. The fighter is Queso Blanco. The mage-priests are Emmental, Gouda, Provolone, Brie, and Mozzarella.
  4. Priests have some decent offensive spells, often strong enough to get in the last blows on a few enemy grunts. They're not as effective or efficient as mage spells, but if they're not immediately needed for healing or buffing, those spells can be useful. On the other hand, I typically play mage-priests rather than dedicated mages and dedicated priests. I want to do a different build when I play Exile 3 and BoE again though. I typically have one all-around fighter and five mage-priests, and name them all after various cheeses.
  5. You position them in front of a wall/obstruction or a special encounter. They always appear behind the lead character, so if there's no room multiple can appear on one spot.
  6. If you maneuver it right, you can sometmes get all your PCs stacked on top of each other when you enter combat, which is a good defensive position.
  7. If you have your fighters wait while your spellcasters Bless and Haste them, they can close the gap to the enemies more easily the next turn, instead of running halfway there and letting the enemies get the first hit.
  8. Also, the Empire enslaves the dragons in Avernum 2. Sadly, Avernum does enslave Motrax in Avernum 2, come to think of it. I think that's the only instance of slavery on the part of Avernum.
  9. Melee fighters need lots of Strength and Dexterity, and the individual weapon-type skills help too. Archers need Dexterity and Bows skill, although the weight of the arrows can make archery inefficient. If you can get Regenerating Arrows or a sling, then it can be more useful. Thrown weapons users need Dexterity and Defense. Thrown Missile skill is worthless because Thrown Missiles are bugged and check for Defense instead of Thrown Missile skill. Bless and Curse statuses are incredibly helpful in Exile, and all but the most skilled players are unlikely to succeed without them. Bless and Curse status can't be emphasized enough.
  10. In Avernum 1, there are some slithzerikai villages that drive human slaves, in the swamps to the west of the central lake. In A Small Rebellion, there are some slaves of a species I can't recall (ogres or humans I think) growing, harvesting, and preparing sedative herbs, kept docile through the consumption of those herbs themselves. Harston in Avernum 2 is a slave colony run by the Empire, where the people have some measure of freedom but with the implication that if they try to leave or get lazy, death awaits them. Otherwise, Avernum itself does not condone slavery. It's not explicitly stated but Avernum's fanatical insistence on freedom after leaving the abuses of the Empire more or less implies it.
  11. Ah, right. Does the Intel Mac BoE in the forum header run like legacy BoE? Basically all I'm looking for is legacy-like BoE that's easy to run on modern Macs, except with the patches. Then I'd host it on the new website. The Living Statue attack pose included with legacy BoE and the attack pose included with OBoE are different. Check it out, you'll see. The arms are positioned differently. (For those curious, I bought BladesOfExile.com and BladesOfExile.net because they were available and I didn't want some jerk taking them and doing something dumb with them. It feels kinda weird owning a domain named for the original name of the game, but if I think someone in particular can do a better job with it I'm not opposed to transferring ownership or allowing others to co-maintain it.)
  12. I just downloaded that copy of the 3D editor. I'll put it on BladesOfExile.com when I put the site together, hopefully in the near future.
  13. Would it be possible to put some sort of DOSBox wrapper on them so you can just download them and run it? I hear that's possible, maybe.
  14. Can that version be used without too much complexity on modern computers? I don't know much about MacOS.
  15. I wasn't using your files for the monsters. The monsters' graphics are the same brightness between PC and Mac.
  16. They're glitched, yes, but not the important bits. Mostly just the interface buttons and stuff which are the same between Mac and PC. The only difference I currently have is MISC.BMP, which includes some patterns. Is that what you mean? Also, it looks like the Mac version has an original attack pose for the Living Statue, if you'd like to replace the one you made for OBoE. It'd be nice if someone could make the reverse, with Windows graphics fitted into the Mac graphics' layout. Another thing I'm doing is fixing some anomalies such as transparent pixels where they should not be, and mirroring all the monsters properly (they're not perfect mirrors for some reason).
  17. How do I solve the puzzle? I've already killed all the monsters and I don't know how to keep the gate open. It only opens when I step on the pressure plate. EDIT: I figured it out. I put the solution in a spoiler tag in the first post.
  18. I'll play it at some point after it's done. I'm not familiar enough with BoA's workings to really be helpful as a beta tester, but I love seeing the BoE/A community still making new things!
  19. After you go down to the basement in Fort Remote and open the gate with the Runed Key, you enter a room with a pressure plate that opens a gate. How do I keep it open? I can get through in combat mode but then I can't get back out, so that's obviously not what I'm supposed to do. There are a bunch of other weird tiles in the room and some broken clay on the pressure plate. EDIT: The solution:
  20. Do you mean the Intel Mac version or just the legacy one? I'd like to host them all on BladesOfExile.com, once I get it started. I'm making very good progress on the tutorial scenario.
  21. I guess I can get by without disabling the Instant Help by default. I just have to design the tutorial correctly.
