  1. Yep, you should be able to see the gate closed gate through a window, it's on the floor, but you have to look carefully. If you didn't pass through a temple to get here, you are in the wrong place.
  2. Outside of the final dungeon, before the entrance, just north of the field of pylons head to the far west. You need very high nature lore to get it.
  3. felix -- desist now or your membership privledges will be revoked permanently.
  4. Quote: Originally written by Sharpie: Aye, Dorikas escaping seems to be part of the story, I think it's part of a set-up for Avernum 5. You think?
  5. Feel free to try and improve the default one, the AI is rather fickle with respect to targeting.
  6. You do not need to kill him, in fact you cannot, he will escape regardless of what you do.
  7. To open those doors you need to kill Rentar-Ihrno. To open the main gate to Rentar, go to the lower level, head south to the barracks, then east, then north through the temple, and then pull the lever on the ground.
  8. Fine, I'll use "most difficult" instead of the more ambiguous "hard". Care to explain why it's the most difficult other than "I don't like it therefore it's hard".

  10. Quote: Originally written by Drakefyre: For me, fun and ease are directly correlated. Maybe not ease of doing, but ease of completion. Why do I find this statement ironic when we consider your scenario design record?
  11. Quote: Trust me, if somebody wants, he can make an anti-magic aggregate to cover all Ermarian. Prove it.
  12. I think most of the BoX community agrees, redoing Erika, Garzahd, or Rentar is bad. I even felt queasy about it in A4, but it's good to hear that they are dead. To paraphase, it's time for them to fade into the history of Avernum.
  13. I think your break down of work is a little flawed because often designers do not progress linearly; in other words, they don't do towns one at a time as the game would be played. I would say the hardest part to do would be all the little details, the needed dialogue but ultimately of little impact like the shopkeepers and random townspeople. Doing intermediary dungeons that have a point, but are there not having a very central role to your plot. It's times like these that are the least rewarded and least motivated. The testing phases are perhaps the most rewarding as people are finally playing your work. The most exciting parts are the plot development and fleshing out the key points. Everything else is just a lot of work.
  14. Been a while but I believe the white candle is in the den with the mutant giants in the northeast corner. Could be wrong, but that's what I recall.
  15. If you are in the US, I would suggest going to the local post office and procuring a Money Order.
  16. It would be nice to play someone in the middle, on neither side.
  17. One of the panels on the lower level frees them, the others make the final battle and passage to it easer. I do not believe you need to free them to win the game, however. If you feel you are strong enough, you can try to go down the main corridor without them.
  18. Who are 2Dastal, 2Drakefyre, etc?
  19. Shaper Lord has been banned for three weeks. One for the profile, two for being rude in other topics over the past few days.
  20. If you don't mind lower graphics, perhaps you should check out a lot of the user scenarios for Blades of Exile. Some of them are really, really good.
  21. 1) You will get a mission from the Castle when it is time to go here. Do not worry about this until later. 2) Talk to Solberg, kill his demon, and he should give you some info. 3) No.
  22. Quote: Avernum's the Poland of the Spiderverse. Then who is the France of the Spiderverse?
