  1. The BoE source code can be found here. Now that we have that aside I would like to say that trying to learn C++ through the immensely complex source code of BoE without experience will not be easy. Or possible, for that matter. You would do better to grab a book, although I'm not stopping you.
  2. I'll try to make it, but I can't guarantee that I'll be able to stay the whole time.
  3. Adrift is a relatively short beginner scenario. The combat was on the hard side with a level 1 party, and I allowed myself once to go into the Character Editor and heal. My mage and priest were forced to be very conservative of their energy. I figured out that this was the trick after having to restart twice. The plot wasn't amazing, and the ending dialogue was a bit disappointing, but the writing was funny despite the serious atmosphere, and I liked it a lot. The custom graphics were cool too, but not amazing. The design was great, and I really liked the deck. Rank: [rating]Good[/rating]
  4. I'm fine playing on Thursday, but my problem is how long it went on last time. I played for at least four hours, and still missed a large fraction of the game. Quote: Unfortunately, you guys completely ruined The Office by remaking it. At least that means you don't have to watch it, because it just. isn't. funny. I don't want to provoke a full-on flame war over TV preferences, but I'd just like to say that they're both very funny but in different ways and geared towards different people.
  5. Thursday's no good. The Office sixth season starts next week!
  6. Incorruptible is a very short but very enjoyable scenario. The custom graphics were very good and the setting fit the plot really well. The combat (that is to say, 'the one fight') was a bit hard but with the Fire Grenades (bonus points for those) was manageable. I've played the scenario three times, two for the beta and one for this review. It's still fun. The first time I came in with an over-leveled party and didn't realize what the Fire Grenades did. It didn't matter very much, because the plot is definitely the main attraction. Rank: [rating]Good[/rating]
  7. Who took over for John after I left at the end? I didn't like the way he threw around my precious hats... Anyway, I can't wait for the next session. I'm going to pummel Jarreth and his silly old hat!
  8. Sweetness! I'll be there, and hopefully not square!
  9. I'm Sorry, but I've just discovered as of five minutes ago that I can't make 5 o'clock. Maybe 6, but otherwise I can't make it. Sorry, folks. Edit: I have confirmed that if we slide it over an hour to 6:00 p.m. I could probably make it, but I'm not sure if that works for everyone else, and I'm positive no one cares, so do whatever.
  10. Either of them fits in perfectly with my schedule, but I would prefer Thursday. EDIT: I GOT MEGA-SNIPED! EDIT2: No, beyond that! I was reading the wrong page! EDIT3: For completeness, *Facepalm*
  11. Well, I'm not Kel, but I think my advice counts too. I would try doing everything the error message says, first of all. The scenario must be in the Blades of Avernum Scenarios folder for it to play the opening text at all, so that can't be it. I have no idea how to give the editor more memory, so I doubt that's it. So that leaves reinstalling BoA. If that doesn't work, I can't help.
  12. Sure, I'll help with whatever I can. Now, what is it I've just gotten myself into?
  13. This sounds cool. Count me in. Edit: Shock Trooper! How long has that been there?
  14. I've only played this and VoDT, but I don't think either of the remaining two scenarios could top A Small Rebellion. The plot was so exciting that I couldn't stop playing until I got to the very end. The writing to go along with the plot was also very good. The town and outdoor design was very good, and I especially liked the combat. Sometimes I had to go into the character editor to fix my party to beat certain battles. At the last battle with Stalker I was almost pulling my hair out. I had tried putting endurance to 20 before I realized I could charm Stalker and have him attack everyone else while getting steadily worn down. I absolutely enjoyed this scenario. Rank: [rating]Good[/rating]
  15. Might I suggest that we add the download links to the rating topics so we don't have to go looking for the scenarios somewhere else?
  16. Although I would like more good scenarios, and I'm sure countless others would too, you can't just ask people to Quote: start making new and good scenarios by the dozens. It takes time, and it's not that easy.
  17. I've started reading the Xanth series by Piers Anthony. I read A Spell for Chameleon a while ago as well as some of the next book. I've started again from the beginning, and I'm finding them to be very good.
  18. The Valley of Dying Things is the scenario that has kicked off many an adventuring career. It was very enjoyable, with an amazing plot and a mysterious atmosphere that kept me playing on the edge of my seat to the very end. The outdoors was very well designed with many interesting encounters. The fights were never too easy nor too hard, and were usually rewarding, as in the case of all the undead in the crypts and the hydras in the swamps. There were no noteworthy boss fights in this scenario, and I found this a little disappointing. The combat in the towns was altogether too easy, always a bunch of little critters I could take out with a single hit. Rank: [rating]Good[/rating].
  19. I plan to go on a BoA spree as soon as I finally beat A1. It's about time I've played someone else's scenarios. Pretty much all I've done until now is design a bunch of crap that never got finished, with two exceptions.
  20. Quote: I think its better buy 1st trilogy on cd than buy just A3. I second this opinion. It's better to buy the trilogy CD, if only just for A2 and A3. You're still saving money, and if you don't mind the lack of a linear plot it's worth checking A1 out anyway. It is a very good deal.
  21. Turn That Frown Upside-down Difficulty - beginner Version Number - 1.0 Keywords - smiles, frowns, beginner, short, linear
  22. Nikki, I'm pretty sure the first links download the revised version now.
  23. The ones in the thread should work, as well as on Ducks in Hats. The links on Shadow Vale, however, are still broken. It seems I misplaced the files from where the links were directing to.
