  1. Hmm... I guess I'll just play Avernum instead. I wanted to try this, too.
  2. I got a new computer for Christmas and I did the migration thing from my old one so all the files were copied over. I tried opening Geneforge 5, and it wouldn't work! Geneforge 3, which I also transfered over worked just fine. Can someone help me? It says something about putting the file in a "non case-sensitive hard drive" and I have no idea what the crap that means! I tried re-downloading Geneforge, but whenever I loaded 'spiderwebsoftware.com' safari quit unexpectedly (at least for the first two times). I tried downloading the beta from the forum, but it was gone. What do I do? To clear up some questions: Yes, I use a mac, how else would I have GF5? I tried going to spiderwebsoftware.com again and nothing happened. I don't know what was wrong, but it fixed. Last time I downloaded it again it carried registration and files. Hopefully it will this time. I'm checking. Yippedeezoodah: It copied over files and registration.
  3. Actually, most of Stephen King's novels are movies. I've been reading two books recently, one called blink, which is about the subconcious mind, and then Howl's Moving Castle, which I got because the movie was so good. The book's turning out to be better.
  4. Is this possible? I propose a contest to find out who can beat Geneforge 5 in the least amount of in-game time (the number of days in the travel map). On my previous file I got to the final battle with about 385 days, pretty pitiful. I'm going again to see how fast I can do it.
  5. Dange. I tried it with two wingbolts, but I'm quickly finding out that they don't even do as much as one war trall in one turn when you put the damage together! It sucks. I almost got myself killed going into the bonkepeak ruins. I can't believe it, but I think I'm going to have to... *shudder* start the game all over! *waah!* I'm going to try to powergame all of the sects this time, and then kill them all. They won't see the rotdhizons coming!
  6. I finally got to the point where I could kill an Unbound with two rotdhizons, and I killed all of them except the powerful one guarding the blue chest in the last room. I learned Create War Trall, because my brother said it was better, and I went at it with a couple of them, but it didn't get the job done so I'm trying wingbolts as my next dominant creation. Perhaps I should try a combination of them. Suggestions for a good party? (487 max essence; creations available to me for shaping are: all first level fire creations, and the evolved of drayks and fyoras, all battle with upgraded thahd, clawbug, and rotghroth, artila, searing artila, glahk and wingbolt) Advice would be extremely helpful; I've been stuck at this part for at least a week, and I'm getting scared that I'll never beat it. This is what happened with GFs 1,2, and 4! I never can make it all the way through except with 3, and excessive cheating. I'm losing hope. I am on casual.
  7. Okay, I bought charm and I tried the fight with two war-tralls. I did better than before, but I still couldn't even get inside Gazaki-Uss. I'm going to go back and do some side-quests, and I'm going to try to go at it with a few wingbolts the next time I give it a shot. Anyone got any good exp. places?
  8. Hey, if I join, can I write Fan fiction, too? I have a cool idea, and it'll be good practice for my writing. (I'm writing my second novel right now.) Edit: It seems that I'm the first to join.
  9. I'm only level 35 or 36, I don't know for sure. I only have enough essence to make three cryodrayks with two of each stat and there's nothing left over for spells. I don't know charm, create wingbolt, or create War Trall, so I'll need to know where to get those.
  10. I just got to the last battle, (trajkovite one) where you are with a loyalist party trying to kill Ghaldring. I have three cryodrayks, combined with the betas and glahks, yet I can't win it. Tips, please?
  11. It said it costed negative 2, or you had negative two left?
  12. I sabotaged the agent so I could finish the game as a Trajkovite, but I'm not sure if Taygen will attack me when I try to talk to him about shaping. Do the Dera Reaches become hostile? Edit: Okay, they do. So how do I complete the quest? Do I have to talk to Taygen? Edit2: Never mind. I did it.
  13. Burn! Here is an example of the fruit of weekly writing sessions: The rotdhizon, it seemed, was not going to relent, and the Apprentice's meager rotghroth didn't seem to be able to change that. Death was inevitable. Brilliant line, huh?
  14. Rotdhizons plural?? How do I get enough essence? Perhaps I should go with Rotghroths instead... finally have that army I've fantasized about... or maybe an army of rotdhizons! Oh, yeah. The essence. Edit: I didn't even need to fight anyone. It was easy. Thanks.
  15. I think the Trajkovites are right, but under Litalia's rule they are using shaping to get rid of it! They're complete hypocrites!
  16. Thanks for the advice. Quote: instant death Anyone remember the funny quote from GF4 about this? Edit: You could have told me I would die instantly! (And probably did). What can be done to avoid this?
  17. Quote: too lazy to change the name sums up my relationship with my imaginary friend, which is named cabbageface. Dange, I put too many book references into my daily speech.
  18. I used to name my main guy 'Lief' and then I'd have two rots named 'Barda' and 'Jasmine.' Then I figured out that this was pointless and cheesy, and I haven't named a creation since.
  19. I'm in the Spire and I have access to the Agent, but I'm not sure which button to press for the Trajkovite quest. Which one is it? (I ask this because I haven't killed the agent guarding it yet, and I only kill her on some tries, so I don't want to go to the trouble and press the wrong button.)
  20. I didn't much mind schlepping my creations around from island to island in GF3, but there just weren't enough factions.
  21. Noticed a few typos, but the writing was pretty good. You might want to make the chapters longer. (Sorry, I just get a little full of myself when criticizing people's writing; I wrote a 208 pg. book during school writing sessions.)
  22. And then you get betrayed by a person who questions your methods, and you have a rebellion on your hands.
  23. Can someone describe it step-by-step? I found that a tad confusing. Edit: I made it through. Consider my question redacted.
  24. I'm trying to sneak around them, because I don't want Taygen to get mad at me for killing them so I can talk to him about Trakovism. And I can't kill them, anyway. Is there a good way to get through? I know about the servant Mind's switches, but that just changes the patrol route. It wasn't very helpful. Advice?
