The PCs would be trying to stop the war...by beating stuff up! That being said, I would like to see an ancient progenitor race who made the caves, or the return of Undead Mecha-Hawthorne, or both. More gameplay-wise, more single-target spells at higher levels would be nice. The fact that everything becomes AoE when you hit high levels is kinda annoying and odd...

Yet Another Lake of Trials question
Cheeseball-Seven replied to Cheeseball-Seven's topic in Second Avernum Trilogy
So that's how the Slime Tunnels work! I'd always thought it was just a 'flail-around-until-a-door-opens' kinda thing. -
(After finding a job board in Vahnatai lands) "It is refreshing to know that, whatever the differences between your peoples, the vahnatai race is as sincere as humanity in its desire to get you killed."

I can't seem to figure out how to get into the Lake of Trials on my third play through. I managed to get in the last two times, but now both of the passages have closed off. What's the formula for getting in through the slime tunnels? Help would be much appreciated.

Well, thanks for the help! I hope Jeff fixes it in the next patch...

Yeah, backtostart is the one cheat I use, most of the time. I guess I should probably stop, huh? Does anyone know if there's a remedy for this?

I have Avernum 5 for the Macintosh, v1.0. I've been enjoying the game immensely, until until all of a sudden, on my second playthrough, disaster struck! All the items seem to have disappeared. I'm in The Dark River, and having just completed two of Melanchion's Tribute quests, I returned to Goro, got my two Dragon Keys, and opened one of the reward rooms. To my surprise, there's nothing in there! Thinking it a fluke, I tried another one, still no items. I opened a few boxes which I knew had items in them, and still nothing! I tried loading another save game, and it works fine. Can someone please help me out?

How long is "a while"? I've been at it for quite a bit and nothing seems to want to happen...

And that was one of the easier parts of that quest. Personally I wrecked my brain around how to get Hurrr Bellafont in Nephar Beach to sell me her banana boat. I'd never expected a singing contest in any of Jeff's games. ...are you just making things up, or does this quest chain actually exist? -
Also, the Bloodspear looks coolest. ;-) With that aside, all in all, it is a truly awesome weapon.

I had two human dedicated spellcasters (mage and priest, respectively), a slith pole/secondary priest, and nephil archer with nature lore / tool use.

This has been a gripe of mine about fire creations since GF1, that it can be a real pain to get them to bite people. That's a good idea. I've wanted that option several times myself. Dikiyoba. I've wanted that since Geneforge One, and STILL haven't gotten it. -
A little help please?

Thanks a lot. I checked them all before I got the quest, and I guess I didn't see the papers. -
I killed Shaper Monarch, but I can't seem to be able to find the papers Greta wants. Any help?
