  1. Servile is a very good starting character. Lifecrafted takes skill to create, Warrior isent the best. Try a Servile or Infiltrator.
  2. My god! You yourselfs say you left your sanity at the door but whenever I make even the slightest attempt at a joke you suddenly go "Gosh isent he weird" This one at least A) Expressed my feelings My like of the Exile style C) My respect for a returned oldbie and D) My distinction between the old and new engines. Boys, please, read past the insanity to see the underlying order amongst the seeming chaos. (At least I'm not associating people with fruit) /Thinks to self if they will ever get it.
  3. Greetings pilgrim. You have come to the forums in dark times, for the ancient world is fading even as we speak. The great power the Exile graphics held over the viewers is seeping away. Only united can we stem the flow of the tyranical "Tech mode" and save the series from extinction! Join me! Together we shall conqure this threat and once and for all secure the future of the chess-effect 2-D modes! MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!![Etc etc etc]
  4. As Aloreal stated, The process is almost the same for Windows. Simply open the folder then look for the save in qustion then simply delete it.
  5. You mean like Red Dragon Desciple and Arcane Archer from NWN? I agree, prestige classes are good and add diversity to the game. But they are bloody hard to create correctly.
  6. The way to get a Carbonized character editor is to hack it to a floppy then stick it in the micro-wave for ten minutes (Or until the socket explodes) Seriously though, I'll sign.
  7. An important note: The Ring of Endless Magery will not be avalible after day 40 or so as theWizard who tells you about it will be killed.
  8. I played through in a rather differant order... I found a crystal soul almost by accident, took off on the kill Garzahd and did just that. With my new super-powered party finding the last two crytal souls and defeating their defenders was easy. Then I spent about a month mulling over the Portal quest then found out the riddles and turned it to scrap.

  10. I would make a kitten prophacy here but Kel would murder me for it.
  11. *Embarks on a long philosophical lecture about the value of life, game violence, silver bullets, dead flesh and the dangers of shooting yourself with one hand in the air*
  12. The problem is that the basic rules on a "Strong Magic, average shaping" (Is that the right one?) would give you an insane advantage without some major reduction in other areas.
  13. Javlins were meant to bend or break on impact so they coundn't be thrown back. Romans hack at things. Celts can still hack at things but have the awsome power of spellcraft. A good heartstrike or Doom (Not played much on NR yet) will turn a roman patrol into quivering jelly without firing a shot. No contest.
  14. My friend you have just revealed the exact reasons why I only plyed A4 through once. But you have missed out a few points (Forgive me if I missed them, I skimmed a few bits) A4 I think was more an experiment. It did lack the beauty of the Exile and Avernum series while not opening itself fully to the power of the Geneforge series. I most certainly wouldn't call it a faliue but it dosent have the homeliness of Exile or the Story-Line of Geneforge. I do honestly hope they get rid of the avernum movment system in A5, it just does _not_ make the game better in any way with that style of graphics. What I really want is to see another game with Avernum's graphics engine. I miss them almost painfully at times.
  15. Yes. Ring of Blaze or Blaze Ring. You get it APF for a ruby. It casts a level 50 Fire-bolt once per day (I think) and can be equipped. It can't be used while equipped but can when its lying in your pack. Seems kinda ilogical..
  16. Ur-Drakons are god creations. They are insanely hard to get and cost an amazing ammount of essance but once got all you really need to do is walk into an area, cast Essance armour/Augmentation on it then let it loose. Apart from opening doors the PC will never be needed.
  17. I mantain my masterly neutrality on this subject. /Strides off stage with a dagger of ice 5+ and an evil grin. EDIT: Noo! this cannot be! I try and make a totally original gimmick and find out someone else had it first!
  18. In training? This is just like the A2 Slith Quest. You either have to cold-bloodedly slaughter a large number of innocent Slith babies or you let the quest hang in the air. Morals or bad scripting? Both these quests needed a "Sorry I can't" option. And the whole series needs a "Remove Quest" option. Not JV bashing here, just saying this does need to be looked into a bit more.
  19. I thought the "one click two spaces" thing was a bug. It annoyed the hell out of me more times then I can remember befire I found out about the "other" movement button. Use the right mouse button for precision movment and the left to travel fast. Buts its a pain as a singleton searching things as if you tap the wrong button you go two spaces away from the object you want to search.
  20. Theres no trigger, go to Lorali (Spelling!??!) and talk to people until you reach the jobs giver, talk to every guy with a "offical" looking icon in the window and you'll be offered the house for 8000 Gold. Look in the buildings. Vague enough anyone?
  21. The inner crypts are the deadlist area in the game. Super-Spawners that can't be turned off spawn huge and massivly powerful creations, Pylons pund you with slowing, curse and essance orb spells. Then there is the Shaper tomb, home of the mighty creator of the Geneforge himself (or herself?) who is possibly the most powerful enemy in the game.
  22. If you do want to know... You need to get into a massivly guarded enemy fortress, fight your way past hundreds of Pylons, Guards, Demons and others. Then you must defeat the shades who become even more powerful when they are vunerable. They summon hordes of powerful followers, blast your party with fear, fire, acid, hail and other terrible afflictions.
  23. It's 8000 Gold and it's an ancient manor house in fact. It's an entire town in itself with encounters and rats and even a resident ghost. It's really fun, when you've got it.
