  1. How would I add this to dungeondlg? I found the obelisk section for the second floor, but not sure how to paste the code in correctly.
  2. House buying and romance were added in some strange half-ass attempt to appeal to people on Steam I think. Jeff's strength is in writing a world and a story.
  3. I remember reading that Avadon was Jeff's best selling game. Is that still true? Did Avadon 2 do as well or flop?
  4. How does it cause problems? I've been using it, but I'm only in the corruption the first time. The thread for the mod doesn't mention any problems, but then it doesn't mention much of anything.
  5. Thanks. I guess I only hate to miss dialogue then. Maybe I'll run the full party mod. Does that end up showing all dialogue and cross talk?
  6. Does using/not using people determine anything on their personal quest?
  7. I always get paralyzed playing games with choices. I know that certain party members have dialogue. If I take the wrong ones, I'll miss out on the best dialogue. I'm playing a tinker mage. I've been taking the blademaster and sorcerer. I'm not very far. I also hate placing skill points for fear I'll regret it. I know Jeff's games aren't always well balanced and a wrong path on the skill tree can leave you having trouble later.
  8. Avernum has a much more alive world. It feels real, the people you meet are interesting, from the random blacksmith to the King. Avadon has a linear story which helps keep it tight. The story of Avernum is often buried deep in conversation trees, sometimes in conversations with random blacksmiths or innkeepers. The party themselves have no personality. Avadon's party members are real characters. The skill tree is much better in Avernum. Avadon's skill tree is basically thrown together randomly. Graphics are virtually identical. I'd love an upgrade at least to Baldur's Gate 2 level graphics, but it's just not happening. Art takes time and money. I prefer Avernum. But I can see how Avadon might appeal to some.
  9. How do you feel about all the junk items in the game (and all Spiderweb games). I'm talking buckets and spades and bits of husk and all the worthless items that just sit around taking up space.
  10. I can't go back to the old engine. I first played Exile, then Avernum, and now Avernum Mk. 2 and I hate the way the series is now, because I can't in good conscience tell people to start playing the series knowing they would have to switch back to the old engine for 2 and 3. I wish Jeff would just rush out the remakes before continuing Avadon because it's a lot easier to wait for a non-existent sequel than to not play existing games because you are waiting for the intervening games to be remade.
  11. I haven't been able to find a conclusive list of every person who crafts an item and the recipes. Matt P.'s FAQ has most I think, but it's spread out by area and hard to search for as he doesn't use consistant names for items (i.e. claw of the demon vs demon claw vs demon's claw). He also isn't very specific ("He offers to make a powerful belt for...") so it's hard to know whether it's worth it or not. Does such a list exist? The hardest part of playing these early games is not having access to the same strategy posts as later games have with all of this info in a concise, easy to use format.
  12. Where is a safe place to leave my items? Easily accessible, where they won't disappear, and where the people won't become hostile no matter what faction I decide to join.
  13. I'm used to other Spiderweb games where every skill and trait is analyzed ad nauseum so there is no question about what is worth it and what isn't. So what is worth it here?

Not a great sign for a new release on Steam. Steam and Gamefaqs forums are usually a pretty good indication of whether a game is selling well.
  15. I might get it, but I find it hard to play the older games these days after playing the newer, sleaker games. I wish this could be remade with the A:EFTP engine.
  16. While I am an Android user who would never consider an iphone or ipad, I would also probably only play the games on my PC anyway. I'm sure I'm not the only one. I think Steam does a whole lot more to reach a wide audience than Android would. Not to mention, while there are more Android phone users than iOs, wasn't the port largely for tablet devices, where Apple has a bigger market share?
  17. I was wondering if anyone knew. How does it compare to a novel?
  18. 90% Stein, 90% Obama. No big surprise there. I vote green as often as I vote Democrat.
  19. This seems to be a very successful business model for indie and professional companies these days. Should Jeff start producing $2-4 DLC bonus dungeons or towns for his games? Easy enough to implement, introduce an NPC that adds a pylon to the list in Avernum, or a portal in Avadon. Give people something to do while they wait for the next game.
  20. It shouldn't take so long, now that the engine is done. but then again, it probably will. I know Jeff is a one man team, but I do get frustrated waiting. especially considering the amount of recycled graphics and dialogue in the remakes. Avadon is a completely new script, so that's understandable. But Avernum 2 and 3 already have 80% of the script done, the engine already made, and the majority of graphics will be lifted from A:EFtP, Avadon and A 4-6.
  21. enjoy it, your ipad seriously cut down on our ability to loot stuff.
  22. Why would the whole town attack you for killing Kyass in a fair match? He says he maintains leadership because he's the strongest, so shouldn't me killing him show that I'm the strongest and the town should defer to me, or leave? Why would the whole town go berserk?
  23. I filled up all the quests except areana fangs and magical notes without buying anything

  25. I could see Avernum being redone into a Might & Magic combat system with modern graphics like Skyrim. Really, M&M combat is pretty much the same. And Skyrim conversation trees are the same. It would actually be a pretty damn cool game.
