  1. stu_pidd_cow, the editor is filled with so many bugs that it makes the Guiness World record for flies killed in twenty minutes look pathetic. There's two(3?) whole articles at the Lyceum describing what's wrong with it.
  2. Trouble is, if Jeff is taking the rebel ending, which he presumably is, then Khyryk's dead.
  3. Ah, good, a thread to finally post this in... The link to Khoth's Graphics Archive is broken. Has the site disappeared? Or just moved?
  4. Perhaps there could be "moderate" conversation option? Essentially the same as just ending the conversation, but makes sense in a roleplaying context.
  5. I decided to kill both Rahul and Akhari, since both are completely crazy with power. Sadly, Akhari's summoned creatures don't do enough damage to actually kill him, so it didn't work out. But no-canisters rebel is pretty virtuous in my opinion. (Pssst.... Jeff...AWAKENED IN G4)
  6. This indeed would be wonderful. However, Jeff Vogel has decided that Blades of Exile is now at the point where he's declared it to be a dead game, but he's still hoping someone, somewhere will buy it. Therefore, he won't fix it at all but still refuses to let out the source code so that we can fix it. It's not a good situation.
  7. Oh, come on Stareye. That's a clear case of either identity theft or sarcasm.
  8. Interesting gimmick you've got there... Did you use Shift+D?
  9. Ooo. Juicy secret. It seems like a cycle. There is a numerous race of islanders. Some of them discover a shaping-related power. They break off. Later, they attack and destroy the non-seperated islanders. They win by virtue of their new power. Later, the shaper's numbers are large. Some of them discover canisters. They break off. Later, they attack the shapers (G3). Perhaps the rebels will win in G4?
  10. This would be fairly cool, but we run into trouble with the Agent. The Agents, as has been pointed out, use all spells, not just a specific type. You can't really confine them to a set of spells. Maybe the Agent could use all spells, and the other classes are restricted to class spells. That way, if someone wants to play a tank Agent with Augmentation and blessing magic, they can.
  11. Seeing as I have a desperate appetite for bits of Geneforge plot and that my copy of G1 has been screwed up majorly (I'm stuck in the Spirit City and can't move for some reason) could someone please tell me the Big Secret? By IM, maybe, to preserve its secrecy.
  12. X is far above such mundane weapons as machine guns. X, my friend, has an anvil gun.
  13. Oooh. What's your phone number? And do you have caller ID?

Anyway, to get back in your good graces: Alcritas did this in Falling Stars. Events in general are rather dodgy, and life/death flags I'm pretty sure only work if you visit four other towns in between. You've got two options that I can think of. 1) Set an SDF that calls a special upon entry into the town. The special calls a special encounter that is the NPC. Or, the SDF causes the special not to be called, making the NPC disappear. 2) Variable Town Entry. This can let you completely redo the town, but it takes up a town slot and the town reverts to blackness the first time you enter it. For an explanation of VTE see here or here . You could try "Disappear on day" but I'm not sure that works either. (Anyone know how Alcritas did the diappearing NPC's in FS? I thought it was life flags but apparently that doesn't work.) Anyway, best of luck with your scenario!
  15. I have no clue, but she's member 17, so probably an oldbie. Only 40 posts, though.
  16. Eheheh... another reason Macs are superior to Windows. This only works in Exile 2. It would likely work in Exile 1, because they have similar interfaces, but Exile 1 doesn't even have scry monster. At Exile 3 we get switched to the Blades scrying interface. And he'll never patch this. If he does, we can all force him to patch Blades.
  17. Interesting. You've got a topic in General which belongs here and this topic here which belongs in General. As far as the poll goes, that's very, very general. I would have to go with them being equal, thought in Geneforge I do seem do die more often. (Also, make spelling and grammar your friends. Or at least close acquaintances)
  18. G, PG, and R are the American content ratings. (There's also PG-13, but Jeff left it out of BOE). G means General Audiences (Completely clean, everyone admitted) PG means Parental Guidance (Almost harmless, maybe a couple of fart jokes or something) and R is Restricted (Adult material, no one under 17 admitted without accompanying parent or guardian). See MPAA Note that this is pretty outdated; PG is basically the new G, and 8-year olds are allowed to see PG-13 movies with no protest. In general, your basic BOE scenario is PG. If there's no combat at all and a happy-fun-bunnies plot, it's probably G. If you've got several gruesome murders, it's probably R. However, scenario designers tend to overrestimate gore; Spears or Falling Stars are PG in my opinion, but they're rated R. EDIT: Ash Lael has beaten me. Well, I have more words. Ha!
  19. I shall not comment on the rest of the plotline, but please, please, please do not have a massive army made out of giants, trogodlytes, gazers, demons, and undead. We're really, really tired of all those things. Massive hackfests are not good. And if you must, at least create original enemies
  20. I did something like this, but to the extreme, without killing anything at all. It was interesting, and I actually thought it was much easier than playing as a shaper, say, and fighting things. Jeff did a nice job of making the game easy to play with diplomacy.
  21. And plus, the ingrained obedience is genetic. If rebels can make themselves able to destroy Shapers by pointing, they'll probably find a way to get rid of the obedience.
  22. Wasn't Gull Island in G3 full of self-shaping serviles? I thought they used canisters, at least.
  23. I never played much of Baldur's Gate at all, but the parts I did play I found immensely enjoyable. Why? The game world responds to your actions. Murder random elves for their treasure and the police-mages track you down. They actually chase you. Individual party members abandon you, people respond when you kill their cows, etc. It was a very immersive experience. EDIT: Typo.

This would be an especially awesome character if the stealth system was redone. The current system of running past guards very fast is rather counterintuitive, not to mention too easy. Perhaps there could be an Exile-esque invisibility spell, and then rework the system so that if you see something, it sees you. You'd have to cast it, sneak into closets or something to hide out and cast again, then jump from hiding place to hiding place. That'd be cool. Of course this is all irrelevant if Jeff has finished the engine already, which he probably has if he's done the first five areas. But we can hope. Have you finished the engine, Jeff?
