  1. I actually like scrabble. Mostly because I know just enough obscure words to allow me to occasionally slip in a fake one. The wife just calls me on every of them now, forcing a slight adjust to my technique.
  2. I would think the more judges the better. It's good to have a wide range of comments.
  3. Nope, just argudiscussing to avoid actual work. Are you?
  4. But, owning both properties costs you 600.
  5. Maybe. I read it as saying "Other people are doing it wrong unless they help me by doing it that way."
  6. I refuse to publicly display my plans in a manner that exposes them to the aliens.

  8. My mistake. I had arbitrarily set page breaks so as to have his post be the lead on a page. With no motivation, I based my comments on his and the AUP, assuming he was speaking as moderator.
  9. I assure you that that is not a situation unique to Boston, or even Massachusetts, or New England. It is born of urban growth where there was once a much smaller town, in a location where private property rights are honored above urban "renewal" through condemnation. Having driven extensively in 20 states and 2 provinces, and passingly in 23 other states and 3 provinces, I have decided that those crazy, quirky roads are better for the soul than the straight mega-roads, which seem to become a de facto culture or community in their own right. Besides, there have been actual studies to back that up, which show that distorted commute routes actually shorten travel time, as drivers are constantly striving to find the most optimal path, switching locations and times to find what works best. I think Boston may have been one of the studied cities, maybe during the Big Dig.
  10. Apples and oranges. Slow can mean irresponsible, but not necessarily. But really, I don't understand the question. Do you want a personal opinion, or a comparative and personal analysis? I mean, I think driving the speed limit is normal, but so is anything within 5 miles of the speed limit. Heck, your speedometer can be up to 10% off of the actual speed you drive. Now, if everyone is driving SL+5, and one other person is driving SL-3, then yes, they are driving slow. But, there is no stigma to that, except when their actions are forcing a behavioral change on the other drivers. That is similar to your situation following or leading a pack, where you are permitting other drivers to force you into a mode of operation. This can be fine if folks generally want to drive at a responsible speed (whatever that may be) but it can become troublesome if makes driving uncomfortable for a small percentage of drivers. I think you'll find that differences in rate of travel among the persons on a given stretch of road are the root of the problem. Perhaps someone could test a theory on a stretch of highway, but I think it would be neato if the left lane had a SL that was 5-10 mph above that of the right lane. It would permit faster travel, but wouldn't prohibit entry by a right lane traveler seeking to pass a slower vehicle.

  12. Hundreds of millions people own the rights to produce and distribute chess, and chess accessories. Only a few can boast the same for those other things. So, while those chess freaks may not play often, they can do so whenever they want, and pay no royalties or other fees.
  13. I wanted to vote for options 4,7, and 10, but your stinky poo poll didn't allow me to do that.
  14. Twice this summer I've passed a farm where there was an accident. Both times, a person was stopped to take a left turn (across oncoming traffic) and was hit from behind at, or above, posted speed. Since they had turned their wheels partially, the force of the blow propelled them into oncoming traffic, which in turn reversed their momentum abruptly. The passenger in the stopped car died in the first incident, and everyone was severely injured. In the second, the 2 people in the opposing lane died, as they were in a smaller vehicle. In the first incident, the driver was speeding, and didn't have time to react to the presence of a stopped car, despite having a full breakdown lane in which to pass. In the second incident, the driver was talking on their cell phone, and didn't register that the car ahead was stopped and turning. So, aggressive driving is great, until there is an accident, and then it just makes a survivable situation into a deadly one. Speed limits take into account reaction times, sight lines, and road conditions, not just vehicle and driver ability.

  18. Actually SoT, what your missive seems to boil down to is that the typical BoE player is now craving Halo for video game experience, but Blades is not a video game. It's more the book, and while yes, you do need to have some experience with programming to make BoA work, there are tools to make the story-telling much easier. Heck, I play Blades for the storylines anyways, and hope the rest of the designer's work doesn't distract me from it too much. I, too, hope that the media continues to be used, and promoted, as a story-telling environment, a la CYOA.
  19. E, I always knew you were human.
  20. What's more, we each have our own personal taste in scenarios. That is one reason the CSRR could be a valuable guide, and further reason that a compilation review should be considered.
  21. I imagine that the greatest threat will be to those pretentious enough to think that a label will protect them from harm.

  23. You'd think that this, of all places, would recognize that truism.
