  1. That's odd, on my pass through all the paths had pylons blocking them. Later paths didn't, but even then it wasn't very helpful. As a side note, has anyone noticed that if you leave some pylons alone and head back occasionally that they change to different types.
  2. This applies to this specific topic so I thought I'd post it here instead of creating a new one. It seems to me that theres a bug in the game, that affects the battle with the Formello Shade. If you stand at the top right corner of the top right lake around the Shade's Area, then it is possible to attack the shade without it knowing how to reach you on foot via an area of effect spell such as fireblast. The shade still uses the ice blast occasionally, though it doesn't always hit.
  3. I have found that hasting yourself, then casting slow at least once per combat turn will keep an enemy mage casting haste on himself as opposed to attacking you.
  4. Maybe it's just my perspective. When I place the surface crop base(the alternating brown streaks) in 2d mode then switch to 3d mode the streaks seem to rotate 90 degrees, thus switching to the other streak pattern.
  5. Are the basic crop terrains supposed to switch when going from 2d to 3d mode?
  6. Just a little add in, with the current input, ignoring the lowest and highest votes, we have a rating of 6.04. (Note: This is at the 48 vote level)
  7. All this talk about using multiple PC's when one is enough for the job...
  8. Haste yourself, then walk towards him. Cast Acid on the pillars and run away. Follow this technique to kill all the pillars and the vahnatai.
  9. The corruption is much further than you think. Drakefyre is Jeff, as well as Richard White. It is all one big conspiracy, though that is for another forum...
  10. Haven't you learned yet ADoS, Drakefyre knows all...
  11. Summoning was slightly more useful in the Exile series, in the Avernum series it means nothing...

  13. It's more that the slimes were a problem they didn't know how to stop. The archer who did learn enough information was simply webbed down. If you ever play as a singleton and fight a group of spiders you'll find that this can happen quite easily, and with deadly effect even if you are a high level...
  14. Perhaps a channeling spell such as Symbiosis from the Exile series to transfer health or energy between characters rather than simply a spell which allows one to increase spell energy. This could be balanced by taking a larger amount from the first target and only giving a portion of this to the second target. As the level of the caster goes up the spell is yields more of what it takes. Perhaps even a random chance for a character of a low level to accidentally draw too much from their ally and kill them... EDIT: Of course, this encourages players to create characters merely to hold HP or spell points which is a bad thing.
  15. Hopefully you'll be spending as much time on the plot as you are on making this one part look pretty...
  16. No, you just encounter several basilisks on the island. I believe there is also a patch of mandrake on that island.
  17. That's because Drakefyre is TM, but he's trying to keep it on the DL. As for the topic I prefer the hills to the pillars just seemingly floating out there...

  19. Maybe Avernum 4 could be a prequel. "Before the dark times--before the Empire..." (Obi-Wan Kenobi Star Wars: Episode IV, for those who didn't know)
  20. I meant in the way of some sort of advanced computer core. Like the Mind Crystal in Exile III. If the controller of the golems was intelligent enough then it would certainly stand to rival the Vahnatai and Humans.
  21. Perhaps a floating wooden or stone slab would be more appealing to the eyes...
  22. The vahnatai and humans would easily be able to overcome the golems. Unless they suddenly developed their own intelligence...
  23. It's not TM's fault he tends to always be brutally honest. Think of it as constructive criticism...
