  1. The vahnatai may be powerful at magic in general, but none of them come even close to defeating the most powerful human mages. Even Erika would've bested Rentar had it not been for the curse...
  2. The only difference of not having the amulet is that Erika won't blast a hole in the first wall of the Vahnatai cave you must travel through...
  3. Pump a few points into assassination and you should be doing enough damage...
  4. I think the dark grey cave floor can be a bit displeasing to the eyes if you have to stare at it for long enough.
  5. Erika dies no matter how you play the game. There are not multiple endings...
  6. That list in itself would be fairly large. A good idea would be to check out the Solid Scenarios in the forum header...
  7. Get one of the Giant's Boats and follow the waterway to the west. When you reach as far as you can go Erika's Tower should be on the North side of the river. You may also wish to check out the Avernum Annotated maps site, which there is a link to in the forum header...
  8. How would it be difficult? All he would need to do is apply the constant value which converts from lbs to kilograms. Now if he decided that it wouldn't have the same acceleration of gravity as earth does, a bit more work would be necessary. It's still simple though...

  11. Part 1 just seems to indicate that you can give it completely to someone else as if you bought it for them. You can recieve no compensation for this.
  12. Translation often leads to some loss of meaning and depth from the original text; of course, it has to be there in the first place for it to be lost...
  13. Maybe Jeff will tell us a story of a war between Nephilim and Slith, and the discussion will finally be closed. If not that I'd prefer the game to take place somewhere besides the previous two locations. The ability to visit the areas would be nice, but they should not be the main part of the game...
  14. Well if you started out with a premade party, and controlled all the training in the scenario, you could have a counter check every few turns if the item is equipped. If it is, set assassination skill to 20. When it isn't equiped set assassination back to zero.
  15. There is even a way to explore the entire outdoors of a scenario and most of its towns...but it severly detracts from the playability. As for the check with VoDT, there are simple work-arounds. But the editor is only $30 so just buy it already. If your work is free from such limitations it will probably be of better quality.
  16. All that is required is the use of bless or minor bless to make sure your character lives through the first few levels.

  18. Even though the horses are invulnerable, they are unable to do any damage. Also, they are magically restricted from walking on certain Terrains, and darkness often frightens them. Their only use would be to make a blockade, but a portal could quickly fix that for the vahnatai.
  19. Depending on how he designed it he may have been able to play through it, but that method is frowned upon.
  20. I'm not sure a "How to Play" section is really necessary. Reading the BoA docs(not the editor) should key a player in. Having it in every scenario's documentation would get repetitive and waste space.
  21. Drakefyre has been tinkering with them to 'ikonboard'-ize them.
  22. However, it will allow you to load up other programs on top of Avernum 3 which you can shrink or minimize. Think of it as turning the game into a background for your desktop.
  23. I believe there is a preference where Avernum will not take up the full screen. Perhaps that would be better as opposed to toying with the command prompts.
  24. Alorael is correct, where there should be white it is transparent and shows what is under the object in question. So cave cows are yellowish in some areas and clear in the rest. It is very weird.
  25. Upon running Avernum 3 on my PC I have noticed that the color white isn't showing up. Rather, any region which is supposed to be white is transparent. I am running it under 16bit color as the program suggested. Any Suggestions?
