A3 Bugfix request: Hostile summons
Spidweb replied to mlahut's topic in Avernum Trilogy (2011-2018 Remastered Versions)
I found this. I'll make sure it's fixed in v1.0.2. -
So where is the Empire's military?
Spidweb replied to Chip's topic in Avernum Trilogy (2011-2018 Remastered Versions)
There is a huge military camp southeast of Blackcrag. Most of the rest is north of Valorim. This isn't unusual from a historical perspective. Great Empires tend to keep low levels of troops in their far territories, especially if they are calm and peaceful. (As Valorim was.) -
A3:RW Escape from troglodyte castle
Spidweb replied to Xela's topic in Avernum Trilogy (2011-2018 Remastered Versions)
If you can't kill Elhioc, I want you to be able to escape and return later. In v101 I'll make sure once you have been downstairs once that gate will always be open. -
Avenum 3: Trophies Bug?
Spidweb replied to nikki.'s topic in Avernum Trilogy (2011-2018 Remastered Versions)
The 5 level 3 mage spell bug will be fixed in v101. The game was making you need 6 spells at level 3. As for the outdoor medal, I'm really not sure. I just checked the code and it looks correct, and the Steam achievement being there means the achievement code fired at some point. Any chance you threw away your game settings file at some point? If you did that after getting the achievement, it'd still be on Steam but absent from your computer. -
Quests that don't "stick"
Spidweb replied to txmimi's topic in Avernum Trilogy (2011-2018 Remastered Versions)
Try this. Go to one of those boards to get a Do This By Day X job. Take the job. Does it appear in your quest list? -
Concealed Tunnel Bug (Spoilers)
Spidweb replied to K_I_L_E_R's topic in Avernum Trilogy (2011-2018 Remastered Versions)
Just to make sure, the evidence is not in the Concealed Tunnel. It's in the Barrier Cavern. When you use the Barrier Cavern crystal, it spends 5 rounds exploding and then you get the evidence wherever you are. However, if you leave the zone before the event is over, you don't get the evidence. It's not a big deal. The real evidence, the stuff that matters, is in the golem tower. -
Avernum 3: Ruined World is out. This isn't news here, of course, but I wanted to say something personally. Reworking this game is a huge, exhausting job. It's REALLY big. I went over everything, every space, every item, every line of dialogue. I did my best to be respectful to the title and the love people here have for it. I tried to make sure every change is an improvement. I wrote a lot more about the process here: http://jeff-vogel.blogspot.com/2018/02/we-released-avernum-3-ruined-world.html I will be watching the forums for a while to spot bugs and issues. However, if you want to tell me about a problem, the best way, now as always, is to write support@spiderwebsoftware.com. This is the ONLY way you can make sure we see it. If you are interested in supporting us, there are a number of ways. I strongly encourage you to buy the game wherever you want to, but we get a larger cut when you buy the game from our own web site. If you want to help us get coverage in the future, a positive Steam review would be enormously helpful: http://store.steampowered.com/app/691830 Finally, thank you all for your kind support over the years. I can't put into words how grateful I am to the people who made it possible for me to live my childhood dream. I'm going to write a new game now, and I promise I will do all I can to make it worth the support you've given me.

We have released Avadon 3: The Warborn for Mac/Win to v1.0.2. It is currently available for people who bought it from our own web site or Humble. You should be able to download v1.0.2 now. All of the fixes for this update are already in the iPad version. If you find any nasty errors/corrupted scripts/signs of critical brokenness in Avadon 3, please let me know here. v1.0.2 release notes: * All special combat bonuses bought from townsfolk work correctly now. * The Macintosh version will launch on OS X 10.6. (Though it is not officially supported on this version of the OS.) * Descriptions of Medals corrected. * Exploit for High Lord Golath fight fixed. * You can’t kill innocent townsfolk with ground effects anymore. * A number of minor issues and typos. Thank you! - Jeff Vogel

Killing Velusa and Zhethron are optional feats for experienced players who want to take on tough challenges. You don't have to do them. If you have Velusa's invitation, I'd suggest just going on the final quest. I made sure that there are non-battle options for the vast majority of it. - Jeff Vogel

I'll check those two achievements. The main thing that requires fixing is the ability to kill town NPCs. I though they had enough hp and regen to overcome throwing fields on them, but that clearly isn't the case. As a workaround, don't do that. I confess that if you go into a friendly NPC killing spree and then find you have issues with your game, I won't be super-sympathetic. :-) - Jeff Vogel

The "Send Summons Ahead" exploit will be fixed in 1.0.2. Don't know how, but I'll find a way. The other techniques are fine with me. If you're ok tanking the acid damage, do that. Otherwise, just blow a ton of consumables. Except for the exploit above, this fight was meant to make people go "Huh, I need to find something different this time." It seems to be doing that. - Jeff Vogel

We got multiple complaints of 10.6 just not working. We felt we couldn't support it in its condition, so we had to change the specs. I'm sorry you're stuck in this situation. I suggest either reverting to v1.0 (which, while flawed, still works well) or contacting us at support@spiderwebsoftware.com for a full refund. - Jeff Vogel
-
It wasn't working on 10.6 so we had to change it. What OS are you running now? - Jeff Vogel

We are int he processing of upgrading the demos to v1.0.1. v1.0.1 is now live on Steam, and it'll soon come to Humble Store, GOG, and Mac App store. I'll be watching this thread closely. If something is messed up, please let me know. Mods, feel free to unpin this after a week or so. - Jeff Vogel
-
The demo isn't v1.0.1 yet. Reinstall the old complete version.
-
Should be fine. It stores your saved games in Documents, and you should be able to play with any sort of copy of game. But you can go into Documents and back them up if you're unsure.

We are starting a gradual release of Avadon 3 v1.0.1. Right now, if you bought it on the Avadon 3 page (the Humble widget), if you redownload the full app from there (NOT from Steam), you will get v1.0.1. If I haven't heard of any problems, file corruptions, etc by Monday, I'll start releasing it on Steam and the other big sites. The current release notes are: * Each level of intelligence now has a chance of giving summoned turrets another level. * Tooltips for blesses and curses are clearer. * Other character abilities rebalanced. * Nature Mastery now increases health, reverting it back to its role in Avadon 1 & 2. * An exploit using floor damage effects has been removed. * Miklosh no longer dies when Vanatok’s Stead is attacked. Thanks everyone for the great feedback! If you try it out, let me know in this thread. If it works or doesn't work, any feedback will help me to feel better. :-) - Jeff Vogel

Thank you very much for letting me know. I'll look into a way to make this clearer. - Jeff Vogel

When Redbeard asks for an invitation, you should get a dialogue option "Where is the second place where I might find an invitation?". After asking that, he should ask for the invitation you found. The invitation item is called "Ravilla's Invitation", not Velusa key, and is found in a box in Ravilla's quarters. If you're sure you still have that, I'd need to see a saved game to see what is going on. Save the game to the top left save slot. Go into the saved game folder (location is here: http://www.spiderwebsoftware.com/avadon3/techsupp.html) and send the folder Save0 to support@spiderwebsoftware.com. I can take a look and see what is going on. I'll take a look and see what's going on! - Jeff Vogel

By design, not a joke. Wearing them gives the effect of one level of Focus Mastery (adding chance of critical damage). Honestly, it seems pretty clear to me. And I like the flavor of it. These greaves have some weird magic that makes your brain more sorcerery. - Jeff Vogel

Thanks for letting me know. If I get more people with problems with that, I might change that layout of that room so the people are more visible. - Jeff Vogel
