  1. This is a really rare issue, so I have to make sure it's a flaw in the game and not just a local issue. Could you try running Activity Monitor while playing the game? WHen it paused, alt-tab to Activity Monitor and look at performance and see what process/program is slowing things down. This will do a lot to troubleshoot the issue.
  2. Press the Place Shop button. Select the shop in the window to the left. Then click in the shop where you want to place it. If you move the cursor on the terrain, click when you see the rectangle turn green. That means it's a legal spot.
  3. I have had a few reports of this happening on Windows, but I made some changes that might fix it in v1.0.1. This is the first report of this happening in Mac, though. Drop us a note at support@spiderwebsoftware.com?
  4. Hmm ... WHen a shop gets placed on you, it should relocate you in a clear space near by. Do you have a screenshot of this? I'll look into it for v1.0.1. Until then, You can also remove shops in the placement window and then replace them somewhere else.
  5. OK, I fixed it. I'll release a new demo early next week. Thanks for your patience!
  6. Ah ... It's the demo. That was why I couldn't reproduce the problem. I just reproduced it, and I'll make sure it's fixed in v1.0.1.
  7. I did write Queen's WIsh so you can behave in a very Archerish way if you want to. I thought the huge tracts of land quote was a little too on the nose for Fort Bannerspire. People already get the reference. Also, I didn't have anyone there to say it, as everyone already fled/was eaten/was absorbed into a slime monstrosity.
  8. We are getting reports that playing the game on Steam is part of the problem. When Afterburner users get the version from our web site, it works fine. If you google "Afterburner steam", you'll find a lot of issues, especially when Steam Overlay gets involved. Anyway, the 101 update will have some changes that might help with the problem. Alas, if it involves SDL2, Afterburner, and Steam fighting with each other, there might not be anything I can do.
  9. I'm going to rework Windows resolution switch for the next update, out early next week. Because there is such a huge variety of Windows monitors now, I'm going to turn on resolution switching. You should be able to pick a much more eye-friendly screen resolution at startup. (This probably won't happen for Macs until there is an easier way to detect Retina monitor resolutions, which really messed up resolution detection)
  10. Some people can talk, and you can avoid fights. Some people just kill. Those deserters know Haven's law calls for execution for their crimes. They are reacting accordingly. You just got caught in the middle.
  11. I'm sorry you're having this problem. We have tried to make this new series easier on poor vision (all the fonts are larger, for example). The spaces are all 48x48 pixels. It would help to know whether you are using Windows or Mac and how large your monitor is.
  12. This is the only report of this we've had, so you might have a corrupted game file. We'll look for your support email.
  13. Again, we've only got one report of a problem here. You should be able to build the smithy anywhere in the fort and it will still count. You do need to make sure to build both the smithy and the apothecary, though. I also think the game requires you to rebuild two buildings. If you still have problems, contact us at support@spiderwebsoftware.com
  14. So far, this is the only complaint we've gotten about this, so something weird is going on. Send us a report at support@spiderwebsoftware.com and maybe we can help?
  15. At some point, we needed to switch to the 64 bit thing, and this is the game where we had to do it. SOrry about that! We'll need to give you a refund.
  16. Try finishing the game with a singleton on Casual first. I think you will find it an exciting challenge. I think it will always be impossible on Torment. Torment is pretty rough. I REALLY don't think this game is dumbed down next to Avernum. Queen's Wish has a LOT of systems. Character training is much cheaper, but the fort improvement system has a lot of chewy bits to it.
  17. We are trying to get GOG keys now. It might take a day or two. If you want one, write support@spiderwebsoftware.com.
  18. Queen's Wish the Conqueror is finally out! We're really excited about this game. It is all-new, with a completely different system. It plays entirely differently from anything we've done before. It's a lot of changes, but we think you'll find the game also has a lot of fun in it. Right now, the game is out for Windows and Mac. We're going to start the port to iOS very soon. If you are confused by the new game system, I wrote a blog post with some tips and information about what changed: https://jeff-vogel.blogspot.com/2019/09/queens-wish-is-out-heres-why-its-so.html The v1.0.1 update was released 9/17/19. A full list of changes is on the support page. I'll be adding stuff to this sticky as things change. Hope you have fun!
  19. For Queen's Wish, I want you to spend your time going on cool adventures, fighting exciting fights, and taking part in a cool story. I have streamlined out other stuff. Monsters don't give experience because I don't want you grinding the same group of enemies 100 times. I want you going to a new place and meeting new people and doing new things. If this is not to your liking, no problem, I understand. Our remasters, like Geneforge, will still be very much in the old style. We're leaving those systems alone. I just hope people will give the new game and try and see it, despite being different, it's still fun.
  20. For Kelleran, you need to sneak into the center building. Try exploring the theater. For bug #3, I'm afraid I don't quite understand the problem. Could you elaborate?
  21. We've started a Kickstarter for our next all-new series/game, Queen's Wish: The Conqueror. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/619141553/queens-wish-the-conqueror I plan to write a lot more about it for our fans, but it's late and I'm very tired. On Thursday we will put up a blog post with a lot of detailed info, and I will be answering questions on our Kickstarter page.
  22. We have updated Avernum 3: Ruined World to v1.0.3! This update fixes a handful of pesky bugs: A problem that could cause people to be trapped in the Guarded Tunnel has been fixed. The Castle Troglo pedestal puzzle is a little easier. A new mirror has been added to the Concealed Tunnel to make it slightly faster to solve. A number of doors were locked that weren’t meant to be locked. This is better. Typos and other minor fixes. To update your copy, go to where you purchased the game and download the new version. Steam should already have upgraded your copy automatically. These changes largely don't affect the demo, so that will stay at v1.0.2. Enjoy!
  23. OpenGL can interact strangely with the many monitor settings that were introduced since it was created (like 4K and monitor scaling). That's why I provide so many options for monitor/window/game area sizes. The game won't ever be able to anticipate every possible monitor setup, so it provides choices to help you find a setting that suits you. Sorry for the confusion!
