  1. I think the updated/upgraded Exile series is called Avernum...
  2. Avernum and Avernum were released in 2000 and I still don't feel like they needed to be remade/rebooted. These games run perfectly on my 2017 pc. I guess the need for a remake has nothing to do with new technology, more with how Jeff Vogel ( @Spidweb ) feels about them.
  3. Ah. I don't dislike the idea though, maybe things are better now (my computer is two years old)? @PounceAre you using beta drivers for your GPU? If yes, just deinstall them and install the latest stable version.
  4. Like @The Rural Abjurermentions, it seems to be a gpu issue. It's a long time I haven't used a Mac so forbid my question. Do you have two graphics cards, one integrated and a discrete GPU like we have on most Windows machines? If yes, can you choose which to use to run the game? On my Windows PC, Queen's Wish runs on the integrated graphics which is largely enough.
  5. I don't know where to post this, sorry if this is the wrong place. I was playing, fighting a drake, when I noticed that the player that was attacking had the wrong weapon active. I had already pressed the left mouse button, so I kept it down and pressed the escape button. The save/load menu popped up; I pressed escape again and this popped up on my screen. It looks like the screen we were getting in the Avernum editor when we wanted to add something to the game; it was experimental back then. Anybody knows what this does and what we can enter in the dialogue box?
  6. Thanks for the info! I wondered what was "bloodletting".
  7. I don't know, maybe I'm making a confusion but the memory is quite clear in my mind. Anyway, not a bug, but I found the following puzzling. My party couldn't access the space on their left, on the right where the pointer is in the image below. I found out why later... I think the building should be discovered as soon as the party comes near to it, even if they are not in the right place.
  8. One moment... ... and one click later. Nice! (using Whirlwind Attack)
  9. I do remember getting a quest from Rusty after talking about Cody about how Rusty is about this books.
  10. A possible bug, maybe introduced by version 1.02? I'm pretty sure that Rusty, in the Vol Gates, gave my player a quest related to collecting books, scrolls for him. For some reason I cannot get this to happen again in my current new game. Is there any condition that needs to be met so that I get it? Or is it a bug?
  11. I just started over, again, looking for the "perfect" party. I know there is no such thing as "perfect" but we can try hey? Each team member gets three default skills at start but they can be modified just after you created the party. Here is my starting party. Difficulty setting: normal. Prince Dunstan, young and looking the part. Too inexperienced to get Cultural skills yet. Swords and shields, bows, light armour. Byron, soldier. Two handed weapons, heavy armour. Ys, healer, in charge of the moral and mental support of the group. Too inexperienced to get Inspiring Cry at start though. Bows and daggers, for self defence. Portia, mage. What about you?
  12. I accidentally right clicked on Sutter when starting a new game and I made a discovery:
  13. It's the "can be used by any character" that I don't like... much. Everything can be used by any character; making them interchangeable.
  14. It does deserve a chance! There is something that puzzles me though, since we can no longer train skills (two handed weapons, bows, spears, and so on) we must add skills/perks each time we level up. The problem is that, after some time, all the skills have been upgraded and I'm about to find myself with points that I won't be able to assign. I tried creating a party that is more or less like the ones we created in Avernum, basically: two warriors skilled with the bow, spears and all kinds of swords, one kind of "healer"; this one uses Support skills and uses bows, a mage/sage that uses magic and wands. The number of skills points to add for each category being limited, I'll soon no longer be able to assign points; I don't want to give warrior skills to my mage for example. This is my main problem with this game. Otherwise, I have a lot of fun playing it! Edit: I'm starting over, see if I can find a balanced way of playing specialised characters.
  15. I just entered the Ukat after almost finishing the work in The Vol and it feels obvious that the Ukatish land was supposed to be the first destination for the player. Low grade weapons in chests suggests that and the monsters are easy to fight.
  16. My little party chose The Vol because of the political situation. The fate of the Owen felt more preoccupying and needed to be settled as soon as possible. They ran out of iron very fast but the situation slightly improved, not much but it's a beginning. Rebuilding the forts is somehow stalled but they have good hope.
  17. I know where the castle is; the message pops up way too soon and it's incomplete.
  18. When you arrive South East of the map in The Vol, where there are lava pools, a message displays saying "You arrive near Castle" but all there is here is a creature nest. The name of the castle should be Andesite I guess but it's not even near by.
  19. This is weird, I swear I read somewhere that QW was a prequel to the Avernum series...
  20. You must get back into the placing objects mode to modify the placed objects, or remove them.
  21. Except that, when the whole party dies, you reload a previous save, made before the party has died...
  22. What about writing your experience instead of posting videos?
  23. There is something I have noticed. I reassigned many of the controls and short cuts, among them I assigned F11 to Quicksave and F9 to Fast reload. When I press F9, I get a message according to which I must press "F4" again to reload the game. F4 is not a typo, it's the original setting of Fast reload. The message did not update.
