While all of you are arguing about Rougelikes, Spore and I are doing research. We each started a game of Nethack at 10:54 and both randomed characters. We both were assigned Orcish Female chaotic Barbarians, and had identical maps on the first floor, with identical loot, but different monsters. We also had identical starting inventories. Further studies will be conducted.

Sarachim: I used my ability on the Fury Crossbow the first day, and knew the Shanker had it. Then I saw you kill someone the first night, and figured it must have been Shanker.
