Tenderfoot Thahd kilolima
Do shortswords have any advantages over broadswords (which have a % chance for a neighbor attack damage)? What about daggers? Ideally, backstab would be limited to shortswords/daggers but I can see that in the game 'backstab' merely means an attack from the side or rear against an occupied enemy. Ineffable Wingbolt Mosquito---Slayer
Only thing I can think of is that they are lighter, so they might be better for low level characters who can get encumbered due to lack of enough strength. Characters who aren't primarily built for melee use might benefit with some additional skills and resistance.
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
Broadsword get the chance of a cleave attack to hit an adjacent monster. Otherwise the difference is in damage per level. Daggers do less damage than shortswords and broadswords. Some name swords do the same level damage as daggers but they have extra damage like poison and have other bonuses.
Kyshakk Koan RaustBlackDragon
Shortswords and daggers can be held in your off-hand.

Kyshakk Koan RaustBlackDragon
Oh! Thanks for the info. But that still does add more meaning to their lighter weight advantage.
Unflappable Drayk Death Knight
So the main setup would likely be a Broadsword in main hand and shortsword in off hand due to no real reason of using daggers, at least not that I know. This is very interesting as Im so used to d and d's way where daggers are more powerful. Ill keep this in mind next playthrough when I dual wield one of my fighters. Understated Ur-Drakon Earth
you can dual wield for example flaming sword and frorozen blade together or venomous blade and its acid version (those 4 offer nice bonuses and last 2 better damage than 1st 2), demonslayer can't be dualwielded. Tenderfoot Thahd kilolima
well, that's too bad that shortswords and daggers are basically useless. Are they easily modded? What would some recommendations be for making them more useful?
