Kyshakk Koan eaintree
While looking for Abi to finish up the Tartam quest, I realize I've never found Neray either. Is she in that spot across the river in Kva Lands, perhaps, that I don't know if there's a way to get to?
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
Neray, once you get the quest from Tartam to deal with her, appears in the Wretch Warrens south of the mine area. She appears later in the Jhereth Deeps unless you kill her.
Easygoing Eyebeast Jerakeen
Try not to kill her in the Warrens - you'll miss out on some loot if you do.
Kyshakk Koan eaintree
If she escapes down the mineshaft in the Warrens, is there a way to kill her there or do you have to wait until the Jereth Deeps?
Easygoing Eyebeast Jerakeen
You have to wait.
Understated Ur-Drakon Earth
speaking of her, she has alot caches around Lynaeum but player doesn't see any of those.

Also is there any way to get past that first gate in the cave she initially flees to?

It's still pretty hard to take her down before she gets away, but not impossible. Quote: Also is there any way to get past that first gate in the cave she initially flees to? Nope! Easygoing Eyebeast Jerakeen
People who miss the quest early on, or miss Neray and come back later, are often of a high enough level to kill her in one or two rounds.
Kyshakk Koan eaintree
In the Warrens I tried pulling her back with the Rod of Attraction; didn't work. Didn't work with the Shadow Beast either. That thing has no use at all.
Understated Ur-Drakon Earth
RoA might work on lesser enemies only.
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
It's because you are using it on a scripted character. Scripting overwrites normal effects usually so things like area effects happen with stunned monsters.

Nope! That's actually kind of fascinating, because I remember seeing something I wanted to loot behind it. As annoying as this may initially seem, I think it's more interesting because it implies there are things in the game beyond what you control, which gives it more life, which many games lack these days. Hatchling Cockatrice Lilith
Actually, I think you might be able to get to the other side from elsewhere. You definitely can't get to it from that side, though.
Hatchling Cockatrice ex post slarto
You can get to the back side from another entrance. There may be a secret button or two involved.
Magnificent Ornk Dikiyoba
You can get past the gate Neray closes on you after she jumps down the trapdoor? How do you access it? Dikiyoba.
Garrulous Glaahk Bushwhacker2k
Okay, I thought there might be a way to get back there. I assume it has something to do with the two inaccessible areas in the Wretch underground area in the same place. One was blocked by rocks and the other probably had a switch that opened it, but it was entirely visible from the water area (never found a switch though). Understated Ur-Drakon Earth
as far as I know no way to get behind that portcullis where Neray ran besides cheating and using ghostwalking. switch to get on that other area is somewhere in wolves den, I asked same thing myself and got answer. Easygoing Eyebeast Jerakeen
The switch that leads to the area across the river is on a north wall just after the wolves' den. The area blocked by rubble leads nowhere. There is no way to get past that gate, but there's nothing in that box anyway.

And the game piles undead on you when the Shadow Beast slips away, which makes it nearly impossible to get it back. As Moritz'Kri is scripted to kill the Beast later, I suppose there's no game mechanic that would allow you to kill it in the woods.

This is correct. Even if you manage to totally deplete the Shadow Beast's health on the first encounter, it'll stay at 1 HP and not die no matter how many times you hit it.
