Curious Artila Lord Chaos
Ok i know that terrestia is one and the ashen isles are close to the other but does any one actually kno the name of the second continent
Magnificent Ornk Dikiyoba
No. (And in fact, it gets reconned out in G5.) Dikiyoba.
Curious Artila Lord Chaos
they should at least have said that it was rebel land or something not just say "oh yah about the 2nd geneforge continent it doesnt exist anymore"
Kyshakk Koan Drakon Sssharxx
As far as im aware they just don't mention it. Kinda like my theory about the shapers hideing any previous rebelians (if there were any) by deleteing the records of them. Eventually even the shapers forget they had a rebelian/other continent. Chittering Clawbug Potato
How was in reconned out of G5?
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
Jeff forgot the existance of the second continent and suddenly it was gone.
Ineffable Wingbolt Milla
It was as early as G4 when it was forgotten. My theory is one day someone is going to be studying some old Shaper records and learn about the existence of another continent (Which is not where the Sholai come from.)
Kyshakk Koan Drakon Sssharxx
And then the shapers journy over to this new continent to find ordinary people. Where once there were shapers on the other continent the power died away and like terrestria the shapers populate and take contol of the new continent while forgetting about terrestria and so on. Ineffable Wingbolt Spddin Ignis
The second continent never OFICIALLY existed. It was mentioned in one sentence at the end of G3 as being larger then terrestia and then POOF...gone
Curious Artila Lord Chaos
i kno it was never official but i was hoping that in g4 or 5 u might be able to go to it and terrestria or something
Ineffable Wingbolt Spddin Ignis
Nope, just terrestia
Kyshakk Koan Velzan
Not another thread about the second continent....

Dikiyoba thinks it gets mentioned at least one other place as well.
Ineffable Wingbolt Spddin Ignis
is it at the beginning...i only know of it being mentioned once.
Well-Actually War Trall Acky
Well, not outright, but a second continaunt's exsistance is dependent on the whole begining of the plot in G1.
Magnificent Ornk Dikiyoba
This is the second Shaper continent we're talking about here, not the unknown continent the Sholai have. Otherwise, Dikiyoba doesn't understand what you're trying to say.
Well-Actually War Trall Acky
No, I am aware of that. Think of it like this. The Shapers send the G1 PC west to help with settling a new land . This is Terrestia. We know this is Terrestia because in the ending text of G1 we are told that there is a swarm of activity in Dillame, as Shapers run around trying to create the new fauna and settle the land. If Terrestia is the "new land" then the other Shaper continent is east of Terrestia. Therefore, if one looks at it carefully, there were two continents at the beginning of the series. It was just not ever said outright. The Great Archon
Hatchling Cockatrice Alorael at Large
Something still doesn't add up, though, because they way characters talk about Terrestia in games after G1 it doesn't sound newly-settled. —Alorael, who would also point out that G5, while questionable given that it's post-disappearance, definitely talks about the Shapers being in power and quashing native cultures for several centuries. Well-Actually War Trall Acky
Dikiyoba: *sigh* I really wish this weren't so. That effectively destroys weeks of work on the Wiki I've been doing. Still, its a product of Jeff's forgetfulness no doubt. But that really just puts the icing on the cake as far as how screwy the Geneforge timeline is. Alorael: Pretty much, yeah. "Cannonically" the Shapers originated on the west coast (Lethia Province and Nodye Coast) of Terrestia, and presumably expanded eastward. For games that supposed are all about the plot, Geneforge's plot is here, there, and the other place. Jeff really, really needs to work on his memory skills for his new series. Or maybe its just Geneforge. I don't remember these kinds of problems with Exile/Avernum. The Great Archon
Garrulous Glaahk Tarson
Exile/avernum was fairly good about that, but avernum itself changed from one game to the next.
Ineffable Wingbolt Milla
But that could be explained by cavequakes and other geological movements.
Kyshakk Koan Drakon Sssharxx
I think the muddled plot is good if you think of it as an outsiders perspctive, they never know whats going on.
