Well-Actually War Trall Acky
Is there any way a Rebel character can get in there? The Last Archon
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
No one aligned with Ghaldring can get in there. Trakovites and Astoria's faction are Rebel characters that can get in there.
Well-Actually War Trall Acky
Oh, how ironic. So I might as well count myself out for Eyebeasts and Ur-Drakons then.... The Last Archon
Seasoned Roamer Nightowl2
Nah. Canisters are in lab area. Sneak in carefully. Occasional use of combat mode helpful. Suggest showmeall cheat to help movement. Also leave critters outside. Gazer can is in the south, right-hand room. Will need several living tools to unlock levers. - Nightowl2
Well-Actually War Trall Acky
No, I'm asking about the canisters to the east of that area. I've already got those. The Last Archon
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
I put those on my canister list at the bottom since you can't get them until the very end. Firebolt Minor Heal Create Drakon Create Gazer You have to wait for the bitter end to get ur-Drakon and Eyebeast.
Well-Actually War Trall Acky
Wait, you can just leave while the attack is taking place and come back and nothing will change? Also, a side question: Why does Jeff always put the least powerful spells at the end of the game? I remember I was ready to burst a bubble when I used the canister of Firebolt in Berneii-Uss back in G2. The Last Archon
Curious Artila Dreadful Realm of Dynasty
Firebolt actually is the best spell ever, only second to Magic Missile. Which we don't get to have in Geneforge. So Firebolt is the best. In Geneforge. I think.
Magnificent Ornk Dikiyoba
Dikiyoba would much rather have the really good spells, creations, and equipment while there is still more than five minutes left of playing time.
Hatchling Cockatrice Mea Tulpa
This is a constant conundrum in RPG development. Ultimate equipment, spells, etc. always seems like it arrives with too little time left to play with it. But if it arrives too early, there is not enough left to look ahead to, and the game becomes less interesting.
Ineffable Wingbolt Øther
But I would make it avaliable to moer players, that means not only proshapers can get the eyebeast and ur drakon without cheating.
Magnificent Ornk Drakefyre
The game became much, much easier once I got Kill and Essence Blade at the same time ...

One way to deal with it is to have multiple skill trees, each with their own ultimate skill. Of course, then you have to work out a way of making skills scale with your level so that completing one tree halfway through the game doesn't let you trample everything underfoot from then on. As far as equipment goes, Geneforge 4 and 5 both did this pretty well, but in different ways. In G4, most of the difficult late-game optional quests and areas can reasonably be done in just about any order, and they tend to give out a range of very good items with mostly incommensurable benefits. In G5, artifact crafting basically worked on the skill-tree approach described above, except instead of skills it was ingredients. The artifacts weren't as balanced as they could have been, but it still worked okay.
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
On the artifacts, Jeff get downgrading extra AP items to reduce their effectiveness in giving a second guaranteed attack and less armor protection.
