Rotghroth Rhapsody Ouroboros
I use the "shieldsup" cheat, and its spell effect symbols appeared but the effects didn't, is this a bug? (Example : shieldsup give you haste, but my AP still 8 , attack not increased, damage not reduced)
Hatchling Cockatrice Mea Tulpa
Haste does not increase AP in Geneforge 5. I'm guessing the other effects did take place, and the lack of increased AP just jumped out.
Burgeoning Battle Gamma Trakovite Mitchell
Well I used it and it appeared every few rounds, after an attack a message appears that says that you get a burst of strength, and you then get 3 AP. Hatchling Cockatrice Mea Tulpa
Right, that's what I meant; it doesn't increase the AP you start with each round.
Rotghroth Rhapsody Ouroboros
But the others effect didn't occur.
Ineffable Wingbolt Øther
Sometimes they aren't that noticable, but they are there.
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
Jeff changed buffs so essence shield and essence armor are increasing percentages based upon you spell casting levels. They are quite significant later in the game. Also like armor they are multiplicative and not additive to your armor and items.
Rotghroth Rhapsody Locmaar
Haste increases the probability of your character or his minions to strike twice instead of once.
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
Haste has about a 35% chance of reducing your first action to 5 AP from 8 if you are attacking or using a spell. If you went with an item usage first then you won't notice a difference. There are AP boosting items in the game, but they only have a chance of working each round. There are 3 different types so you can have between 8 and 12 AP unencumbered.
Hatchling Cockatrice Mea Tulpa
And to clarify, Haste absolutely does not increase the chance of getting two strikes. That's Quick Action.
Rotghroth Rhapsody Locmaar
I'm at a loss here, folks. What exactly does haste do then? I thought it made this little comment where it says that you (or your minion) feel(s) really fast and can strike twice instead of once. edit: it says something along the lines of: xxx experiences a sudden burst of speed. Ineffable Wingbolt Øther
Thats true, what it does is once per turn, there is a chance of yours (or your minions) attack to cost 5 ap instead of 8.
Rotghroth Rhapsody Locmaar
OK, I've re-read what's been said and I have to agree. Haste does not give you a second attack per se, but it sure helps in geting one, right?
Ineffable Wingbolt Øther
A little bit, but I know that in G5, haste is never used as much as in other games since of the low probabillity of another attack.
Well-Actually War Trall A less presumptuous name.
Well, I still found it to be quite useful, since it's now an area affect spell.
Easygoing Eyebeast *i
Yeah, haste is definitely not a game changing status like it was in previous games. The increase in AP was so ridiculously powerful that it pretty much became the one necessary effect to have for any fight of note. All of the effects are there, just subtle at times. To demonstrate the effect of bless, shield, etc. Save the game, and play the fight numerous times with and without the effects. On average, you should notice a difference.
