  1. I finished with Rentar in the western wastes and have killed the shades in Silvar and Blosk. But when I got to Dharmon, the people are still angry, but the shade isn't there. I thought it was there all the time, being protected. . . but I've made several trips in and out nonetheless, but with no luck. Did I do something out of sequence?

I just spoke to the Dharmon mayor and told her I killed the shade and she agreed to help Gnass, but Coralea keeps telling me to kill all the shades. ???

  2. I have been replaying A4 after a couple of years and am now trying to get to Rentar's whatever-her-name-is keep. I well remember how I hated all those pylons, and I am struggling with them again. I can't figure out how to sneak past them and smashing them is nearly impossible. I need more help!

  3. I have tried many times to attack a character who is not currently an enemy, but just get a message saying I can't talk while in combat mode. The next statement about clicking combat again and choosing a character just doesn't work. What am I missing?

  4. Sorry, I've still got nothing. . . went into every building between Cotra and Dranlon, looked in every jar, box, crate, container I could find. Are you talking about the building where Yong Mi was? I killed her long time ago and rifled her place, too. . . can't imagine what I'm missing.

  5. I am replaying Avernum 4 after a lapse of some time and am having a terrible time defeating the eyebeast that's in the cell outside Cotra. It continuously charms everyone until they kill each other off. No spells thus far have been effective. I thought there once was a thread about this foe, but haven't been able to find it. Tips anyone?

  6. Well, but how do I get to the mine core zone? My map doesn't offer me that option. . . in fact, the east mine is still red, meaning it hasn't been cleared yet. I have actually killed all the pylons I can get to. The rest of them are behind the lava pits, which kills my group faster than we can get across. Thanks for trying to help!

  7. I'm playing as a shaper, but am having trouble maintaining enough essence to constantly heal/create new helpers. I have to keep leaving the area to return to a place that will restore some essence, but I never get very much at a time. I've pretty much bought out essence pods at the places I've been so far. I will try going to the east to get past the lava pits. Thanks.

  8. I have been struggling through the eastern mines in G1 for a couple of days now, and my frustration just continues to increase. Those pylons are practically unbeatable. The walkthrough says I'm to head west to the mine core to find a servant mind who can turn them off. Where is this servant mind?? It also says there's a non-functioning lava pit to cross, and I can't find that either. I am stubborn enough to try and finish this game, though the enjoyment factor is rapidly declining.

  9. Ok, thanks, I can now use all those living tools I've been accumulating. That's a nice piece of info that should have been in the instructions, imo. I'm going back to the beginning and see what I've missed behind all those locked doors. Yeah, maybe I should think about jumping to another G, but I'll give it a bit more try. And, btw, I am referring to the walkthrough from time to time, though not all of it meant much at the time. Thanks for trying to help!

  10. I have loads of living tools, but no, I guess I don't know how to use them. When I come to a locked door, the text just says I can't open it. Is there a trick to using a tool? Best I can tell, I've lost a couple of rewards through ignorance. I can't tell which way I'm entering any place. When I reach a new location, I just go in and do whatever I can do before moving on. As I said earlier, I don't find this game at all intuitive or even easy to work through. I liked the Avadon and Avernum games SO much more!

  11. Ok. . . so how do you know which items add to your mechanics skill? Shouldn't I have found some of those by this point in the game? I did try an unlock spell once, and it still told me I wasn't high enough (I forget in what) to use it. I have played all the Avadon and Avernum games and never had this much trouble figuring out what to do. I'm beginning to regret having bought the entire G series.

  12. I am increasingly frustrated with the game, because of all the doors I can't open without enough mechanics skill. I've gotten it as high as 6 and still can't open any of them. It takes forever to increase these numbers, and I'm wondering how this is supposed to work. I must be doing something wrong. . .
