  1. Well, I took a screenshot of the character's screen, and that's about the end of my skills getting it on this page. I see that I did put 1 point in Utility specialization and 1 in efficiency skills, so I guess those are the points I got at 5 and 15. So it looks like if I want the tinkermage to have any of the battle skills, I wait until level 25 and put that point in battle skills? I think I understand the structure a bit better. It seems to be very difficult to have characters with multiple skills each. . . they can have a bit of skill everywhere or a lot of skill in one area. I have read the posts on how not to suck at Avadon and appreciate these elaborations. Thanks!

  2. Do you mean when the character is level 5, 15, and 25? If the tinkermage is level 20, then that means I had two opportunities to stack more levels of the same specialization? I clearly didn't do that, so what happened instead? I guess I could try to retrain her in a separate save and see how it goes. . . I appreciate y'all's trying to help me, but it's about as clear as mud. . .

  3. I'm playing on normal with a tinkermage as main character. I'm at the point where I could do retraining. I confess to not completely understanding the skills section for each character. For example, I chose utility specialization for the tinkermage, who is currently level 20 and has 17 points in dexterity and 15 in intelligence. I understand the part where you choose where to assign the skill points.

So, when I started and chose the utility specialization a number 1 appeared beside it. At some point the instructions had me choose another specialization, so I picked efficiency. Is it possible to raise the points in that section above a 1? Is that what I was meant to do for max benefit?

Also, I keep increasing the utility skills on the right so she can build better turrets. I also added 3 to blade training in the battle skills section, but those skills don't show up in a battle.

I guess my main confusion is about the ultimate goal for each character. . . is it to acquire some of all the specializations and skills, or for each one to be a specialist?

  4. Is there any use for the diamonds, rubies, etc., that I've accumulated through the game? There's a guy in Zhethron's keep who brags about being able to craft wonderful things with them, but he's mad at being made quartermaster, so he won't talk about his skill.

Also, I found 2 or 3 items that Nicodemus used to make things for me. How many are there total?

  5. Main character is a tinkermage. Throughout the game I have had difficulty finding enough consumables to use. Seems like you just had to find them or pick them up after a battle, but not so many to buy in shops as in previous Avadon games.

  6. I have the invitation and have made it through the crypt and into the meeting hall. They locked me in a cell and I got out. . . message on screen says it's time to slip out. I managed to make it all the way back to where I first entered, and the door is locked. I've tried finding another way out of the building where my cell is. Can't get past the guards, no matter how much I sneak. I've got saves where I buried the crystal initially and some where I brought it with me to the building itself. I know I'm missing some huge part of this puzzle, but can't figure it out. Any help for me?

  7. I'm nearing the final big quest of the game and have become so put off by all the massacres and the difficulty of fighting such battles that I'm tempted to just hang it up unfinished. Maybe I have a bad party, maybe they're not trained properly, but every one of these bloodfests is so difficult. . . and I'm playing on easy. Right now I'm supposed to go back to Velusa and kill the god, but I barely got out of there alive just getting the invitation. And I get the impression from other posts that a battle with Zhethron is pending, plus whatever I do about Redbeard. And there's still Dheless to deal with in some way.

I have done multiple playthroughs of the other Avadon and Avernum games, but am not so sure about tackling this one again.

    Rant over.. .

  8. Ok, I made it to the top floor of the library where there are still loads of stone guys and turrets. Do I try and sneak around enough to find something specific to complete the quest? Or is being up there enough? I find these enemies super tough even on easy level. . .

  9. Well, I got the dialogue about how they need to leave and the corruption was gone, etc., and they agreed to leave. I went to tell the shaman that, and she was very happy. However, the quest is still in my list. ???

  10. I'm getting very discouraged by the difficulty of the game, even on easy level. My characters are level 24, and trying to finish Nathalie's quest, but they don't seem to stand a chance against the last Halia. I'm also disappointed at how few healing items and such I've come across. Any tips?

  11. Ok, so I'm wandering around Goldcrag with several quests pending here. As I understand it, Redbeard said to convince the Pact commander to help in the war, but also to make allies of one of the warborn. But the only way to get the Pact commander to help is by killing two of the warborn leaders.

    Are these mutually exclusive efforts?

I've chatted with the duchess of the wretches. . .if I decide to kill her, won't the rest of the horde come to her defense?

Any tips will be appreciated. .

  12. I went through Trupo's outpost earlier and don't remember if Khalida was with me or not. So she keeps harping on killing the deserters, so I took her and went through the outpost and there was no dialogue pertaining to this. Did I miss the opportunity to earn her loyalty?
