  1. My team currently averages level 25, and I have no idea how to kill the dragon without dropping the difficulty to Casual. I managed to slay his constructs, then run off upstairs. Should be easy now, right? Just lure him out for a 1:1 outside his frozen room? Well, he keeps two-shotting my squishy NPCs (what the hell is Slow even supposed to do if it isn't stopping him from acting twice?) and basically ignoring warriors hammering on his thick hide. I tried several different parties, and never managed to take off more than half his health.
  2. Before I waste time trying: 1. I can't find the passphrase for the Spiral anywhere, can I? 2. It was impossible to catch up to / kill the titan high general at the Arena when I first met him, right?
  3. I'm belaboring the point a bit, but is that all there is to the Goldcraig Warborn factions? Ally with 1 and kill 2, or kill all 3? I was expecting... shenanigans of some sort. Turning them against each other or something. That was just hella boring.
  4. Just to be sure - hard mode friendly fire only applies to the party, right? Enemies seem content to fire off area-effect spells willy-nilly.

"Again - 300c (if alive), Runesoled Shoes (5% armor, +10% to blessings/curses you cause), 400 XP at level 13 (alive), at level 12 (killed) " I'm don't think you can provoke Shezass before part 3, so the only difference is 300 gold and... some xp, if I'm reading this correctly? Not sure what the difference between 400 xp at level 13 and level 12 actually means.
  6. Really? Drake trouble part whatever was the last quest before we left Green Refuge, and camps generally don't give you quests after you've moved on. 1. Will I ever get a chance to steal Zhetron's hoard? 2. Is there any benefit to actually allying with one of the Warborn tribes in Goldcraig? Or would massacring them all get me more xp and loot?
  7. I don't know, it seemed as though the reward was the same regardless. If I didn't stick by Redbeard (not my keeper! Make the pact great again!) would I have the ability to put on scarabs in Avadon?
  8. 1. Is there a point to sparing Shezass (the green refuge drake)? 2. Is there a list of skill effects? Knowing the Spiderweb series, I'm moderately convinced there must be skills that don't really do anything, but confirmation would be nice.
  9. Just thought I'd have a single topic for what will probably be a number of questions. 1. If I spare people like the necromancer at Vantok's Reach, the chief at 4-circles etc, which of them will I see again for greater profit, and which are just gone? (Obviously, I don't mind spoilers) 2. Does the game account for raising a skill to level 9+ (8 + bonus points)? 3. Um... were Titans and Wretches ever referred to as "Warborn" in previous entries in the series.
  10. I just talked to the Wyld.... rebellion leader, and all 5 companions chimed in. The game was kinda confused about how to display that, but still.
  11. What are the other files? Thekeep, fortfore and...? Hmm - I found that at the very least, it's not based on which companions you pick first. Just took the shaman to Wyldblahblah, and he made a comment.
  12. That's great. Do the other companions comment on events? Does the game keep track of who you take out on quest missions, and does this count?
  13. Which of the people you can spare (necromancer, "just trading" chief) can you meet again for greater profit?
  14. Is there a way to see coordinates ingame? I tried shift+d "whereami", but that doesn't seem to do anything.

  16. See my point about "this reads like 'the bad ending'" in the thread that prompted this. I got 3 out of 4 for the dragon (didn't kill the Vanhantai) and got the "powerful" ending.

  18. Slartibus - thanks. Looking forward to it. Lilith - huh. The writing tone really doesn't mesh with "this is the default ending". What about the Anama (or whatever, anti-magic cult) and teleport location - did I miss them, or are they just red herrings?
  19. Got to the end (is it just me, or is each area slightly smaller than the last one? The last few bits just flew by) and... kinda got the "whoops, you didn't complete enough quests" feeling from the ending narration. Was there a way to cure the blight? A way to meet the Anama cult holding out against the Sliths? A way to get to whatever teleport destination is above Refuge on the teleport list (the blank spot kept taunting me) In general, how many ending variables are there, and how can you effect them?
  20. Yes, though I can get over and over by talking to him. I think I tried all the dialog options - he doesn't have that many. No new ones popped up.
  21. I have it in my special items inventory, but can't seem to find the right conversation topic to hand it back to him. (Edit - Avernum 6, farmer near Silvar who wants the painting back from his mansion near Formello)
  22. Umm. One of us misunderstood the other. I'm talking the slith reacting dubiously to whatisname the Impalers reluctance to fight us... as he jumps into the arena to fight us. Anyone got a handy formula for weapon damage - base damage vs wielder strength and blademaster / whatever bonuses? Apparently a Cryos spear (11-33 damage + misc bonuses) is waaaaaaaay better than a Slith Bloodspear (17-68 + bonuses). I mean, the weapon price probably doesn't mean much (makes me nostalgic for The Witcher 2, which is the one RPG where item price was an exceptionally good indicator of relative quality) but still.
  23. Fighting in the Formello Arena. The Slith chief doesn't care to fight us - "the other sliths are dubious of this line of reasoning, but don't care to argue. He is called "the impaler" for a reason". Ok. We get him to fight us... "the other siths are dubious..." - what the hell. This isn't some obscure sidequest, that's one of the major unavoidable confrontations in the main game. Just out of interest, could the Nephil prisoner survive the arena? Would that have changed anything?
  24. Huh. Good to know. Can I get there the moment I get the boat, or do I have to wait until more plot gates open? I haven't used up a single herb of any kind, including healing, hoping this was the case. ... Oh, apparently the advanced skills don't stop at 10 here, though the costs scale of course. Any skills I should just keep pumping until I run out of levels / points?
  25. Can you create Knowledge brews / elixirs or Wisdom Crystals in this one (or rather, get a late-game alchemist to do so)? Seems like they would be more useful than in the remakes. Kinda getting the feeling that I answered my own question, and have been lugging around dozens of Graymolds and Mandrake roots for nothing.
