  1. You can indeed beat this one, although it is difficult. You get a nice item for it. If you are having trouble, return when you are stronger.
  2. There should be a wooden locker/cabinet in a room just south of Monarch's bedroom. In there you will find what you need.
  3. We've been through this discussion before. Nonetheless, it is an interesting possibility. The other credible thing discussed is that he was the player's character from GF 1.
  4. By about this time, a Fryoa should becoming fairly useless. Kyshaaks serve mostly as a meat shield. If you want something of comparable attack power for this stage in the game go for the Drayk.
  5. The four stars is somewhat nebulous, I would suspect it lost that star from the graphical deficiencies. One can only guess, I suppose.
  6. None of the doors in question can be opened, I believe. The eyebeast is probably behind the pink circle in the lab.
  7. What level are you at? These fights are very difficult and not really doable until very late in the game.
  8. If you go close to the northeast door, you should get a message that allows you to proceed.
  9. By the time you finish Motrax's Lair, you should have a pretty good idea.
  10. Again, we have a case of realism versus gameplay. Permanent death is generally avoided to favor the latter.
  11. Then the percentage has increased. My 50% statistic was over five years old, so I'm hardly surprised to see a greater percentage toward PCs these days looking at the greater market share it has.
  12. Jeff himself says that about 50% of his sales are for PC gamers. As more and more users switch to Vista (which is a topic for another thread...) it would be very disadvantageous to not make the games runnable on that OS.
  13. There is no specific release date because no release date is known. It pretty much comes down to whenever the Windows version is ready. Because Jeff has a bit of experience, he knows how long (on average) a Windows port will take. However, he cannot tell an exact time because he cannot anticipate all issues that will need to be resolved during the port.

  15. A comedy game can be really hit or miss. You can tell one group of people a joke and they will find it hillarious. You then tell another group only to be encountered with blank stares. The point with humor is that it's fickle and difficult to do such that your audience will find it funny. Look at Rats Aplenty from the previous contest, had a very wide score distribution for this reason. Primarily I would like to see a shift in the storyline in GF 4. The current Rebel/Shaper conflict has reached a logical climax with the unbound. More impressive superweapons will just be old news. A new direction, I feel is needed to keep things fresh. That being said, I think a new game altogether might be in order. Perhaps Jeff could take a shot at more of a sci-fi game rather than more a fantasy one. I doubt this would happen, but it would be interesting to see nonetheless.
  16. Quote: I did take it literally, but instead of saying "it is met," I said "it is false." I'll rephrase: "while (i > 10)" says "Do this while the value of i is greater than ten".
  17. The "while loop" should be interpreted literally. It basically says: "Do this while this condition is met".
  18. At least for the top part of the code, y starts at 29, which is not less than 15, so the loop begins as false and is never entered. I suggest making it "while (y > 15)".
  19. Coming up with more creations should not be too difficult compared to writing an in-depth storyline. Using the Shaper ending would easily force the plot to go in a different direction. You might find it "boring" but I feel it opens up a lot more avenues than the others. On the Shaper ending, my one disappointment is that I'd prefer if Ghaldring lives, because he has more character to be developed there after so much lead up in GF3. The endings can pick and choose from various fates and not be one particular ending but a mix. Going with the Rebel ending pretty much ensures more of the same in GF3 and GF4. This time the creations are bigger and tougher, but then where do we go from here? What climactic thing can possibly be done here to keep the storyline exciting and new? We already have the Unbound, another indestructable creation really doesn't seem all that satisfying. I'm sure we can come up with other superweapons too, but ultimately it's just more of the same. As I've said, the Geneforge rebellion has pretty much reached a logical cumulation with the Unbound. You can't really build on top of that, but you can build sideways.
  20. Personally I would like to see a different direction from Geneforge 5. Since GF 2, we've been building up to the Shaper-Drakon war and GF 4 has seen it to fruition. Don't get me wrong, GF4 was great, but like the Avernum series, I feel a fresher storyline is needed at this point. Unlike the Avernum series, the plot isn't stale yet, I fear another Rebel vs. Shaper like conflict game would put us there. Although this may be out on a limb, I would rather see a totally different game. Having a new universe to immerse myself in would be good since it's been a long time now.
  21. You should check the ordering form for any information on discounts. The answer to your question is, no you cannot get Exile II for free even though you have purchased Avernum 2.
  22. Smack the Golem and you will be in for arguably one of the most difficult fights in the game. You should be able to get the Crystalline Fibers here as well.
  23. You cannot open the Turabi gate. The lands beyond are inaccessable in this game.
  24. Darn, beat me to it. I should be able to finish my scenario and test a few things and get a report. So far that was the only error I have encountered.
