  1. Bummer ... I found Drath's first and read it. I didn't know it was for a stepped quest. I do have a save from that point, but it's SO long ago, it'd be like restarting.
  2. Lovely! Thank you all for your rapid responses. I will need to hunt down a platinum ring (as I "junk bag" most of those whenever I see them), but I'm glad to know I can remain in the pit as long as I'd like.
  3. So I'm having difficulty finding Chevyn's ring ... another post mentioned it was in a barrel behind a gate. I'm sure I missed the barrel, but is it at least in the Castle somewhere? Also, when it says there are three possible "main" quests, which one ends the game? I'd hate to do the Grah-Hoth quest, only to find I couldn't go back and ice Hawthorne. Thanks! MissSea
  4. Gah! The above proves I still have SO much more to go! I've had this game for a week, and I feel like I'm playing (and killing) constantly, but the story never ends -- I LOVE IT!!! Apologies. Had to get that out.
  5. Thanks, *i ... I had a feeling it was far beyond where I had explored. It always is!
  6. Stuck in the Lich's dungeon -- can't move on without another level of dispel barrier. Thanks, MissSea
  7. It makes sense that the Honeycomb would be one level -- the many levels wouldn't be dug out yet, right? Not to thread-hijack, but I'm finding that this game is even more like A4 than I think Jeff probably intended. I'm all over the place, hitting the areas randomly. For example, I did quests in Cotra and Silvar, then went to Formello and cleared that out. Went over to Fort Dranlon, then went across the river to slith territory. I didn't hit the Castle until I had visited Patrick's Tower, completely finished the Honeycomb (minus the Scree Caves) and Undead Spiral. Wasn't that a complaint of A4? You had so much freedom that it became overwhelming? MissSea P.S. A disclaimer: I am a liberal user of the character editor and shift+D. I'm playing more for the game than for the game mechanics.
  8. Seems like a lame question, but one of the beautiful things about the previous games was closing doors so you could rummage through boxes to your heart's content. Now, I can't even click on the doors. Am I missing something here? Thanks, MissSea P.S. LOVE this game so far -- thank you for the remake, Jeff!
  9. Okay, that's cool -- I just wanted to know if the sliths I'm running into near the slave camp to the southeast of Formello are going to start respawning on me. I'm not above exploiting the H-E-double hockey sticks out of shift+D, so energy potions/health meters mean nothing. I'm more about finishing the quests to read every bit of dialogue Jeff writes. I tell you, I'd read this stuff if someone serialized it ...
  10. Could someone post where the triggers are for the infinite slith spawns? I know there are a couple INSIDE Formello, but I'm wandering the area outside the town, and I'm curious whether or not there are spawn sites there too ... Thanks! MissSea
  11. I'm debating whether or not to do Gladwell's quests, and I'm curious as to what they are. I know the GIFTS are on there somewhere. Could someone provide a quest list for me? Thanks! MissSea P.S. This countdown to Xmas is torture -- knowing that the means to play "Escape From the Pit" is sitting under the tree right now is KILLING me! P.P.S. Does anyone else have a family tradition of getting to open one present on Christmas Eve? Just curious ...
  12. So glad I went back and finished this game. After I moved beyond the whole "everything's killing me in one blast" and started using shift+D, the game became a whole lot more fun. I loved the storyline -- much more interesting than A4, which was my favorite game out of the second trilogy. And it was easy to look past the general hatred for the empire and try to do good. I think I got the happiest of all the endings ... I'm glad for that. Thanks, Jeff, for a great romp through Avernum. Can't wait to do it all over again with the first trilogy's remake!
  13. Hmm ... I killed Tholmen and Ruth. I'm ready to hit the Darkside Loyalists territory, so I'm thinking I'm out of luck at this point. S'okay, though. I was just curious. I could always do the walk-through-walls thing, but I imagine people would be pretty peeved at me at that point.
  14. Does this mean I'll never see behind that gate beyond the dignitaries' room? The one being guarded by the dervishes? It seems rather fleshed out (according to the maps in the Strategy Central) for me never being able to see back there ...
  15. Waiting for a new Spiderweb Game is rough -- I'm replaying A5, and for those who remember, it was frustrating the first time around for me. Enough to where I didn't finish the game (gave up around Muck). Perhaps absence really does make the heart grow fonder; this time is much better. I'm actually enjoying the game much more. I liberally cheat, but it makes for a better gaming experience for me. I am currently in Melanchion's lands -- I confronted Cienna with her actions. Shouldn't I be seeing Redmark at some point? Perhaps I didn't trigger the dialogue box -- I've had that happen several times where my party skirts whatever square of ground I should have hit. In fact, when I go to find Redmark, he's vacated the room behind the visiting dignitaries' entrance. Any thoughts, advice? Thanks! MissSea
  16. Is anyone else having fun trying to put Spiderweb Software forum handles with people on the Facebook site?
  17. Hi all, I'm sure the answer will be so obvious as to be ridiculous, but ... ::::SPOILERS:::: So I snuck in through the secret passage in the woods (thanks for taking one for the team, Gavin), came up in the castle, snuck my way through the upper floor via combat mode, killed all the archers along the edge then arrived to find the door to the portal locked. Dialogue mentions a door through the back. How/where/what do I do? I went back through the undercroft, looking for buttons to push. Found nothing except for a sorceress and friends who constantly respawn. Help? Anyone? Please? Many thanks, MissSea
  18. Which time, exactly? The game is winding down, and I'm worried I missed it. Does it involve a showdown with Zephyrine? I haven't gotten that far yet. Thanks, MissSea
  19. Hi all, Lame question, I know, but is there a way to see the entire world map besides just the load page? Thanks, MissSea For those curious: Map
  20. Hi all, FYI: I use the "showmeall" cheat regularly. So I'm wandering around in Angevine's tower after deciding to follow through with the quest I'm on. After I go upstairs to the previously restricted area, I see a bunch of red dots south of my position. I've hunted far and wide for hidden switch to allow me to access them, and I'm having no luck. Any advice on how to access them? Thanks, MissSea

  22. Hi all, So I've decided to indulge my larcenous side and steal a bunch of stuff from Zhethron. I took the papers from the library and just broke into the records hall for the heck of it. I also killed Incarnus -- well, encouraged him to cut his vacation short! Will I be able to cross back over the runes in the library to go back into those caverns once I leave? Or is it just passing from west to east that blows the whistle? Also, is Zhethron going to eventually figure out that I've stolen/killed stuff? In other words, do I revert back to the save prior to doing all the stealing or can I continue by game without repercussions? 'Cause I don't want to replay hours of hacking due to a teeny, tiny bit of fun. Thanks! MissSea
  23. Hi all, I have a strange situation when I visit the Ogre Lands (or whatever they're called). Looking at the large map (when you press "Tab"), I see a trapdoor indicated just below where Zephyrine's lair is located. However, when I arrive at said spot with my party, there's no trapdoor to be found! Is this a glitch, or am I missing a quest somewhere that gives me that trapdoor? I'm curious because I still am looking for more of that ore, and I'm thinking it may be down that trapdoor. Thanks! MissSea
