  1. I fairly certain that I had seen my mages get lethal blows with their spells, but maybe it was just with their bows.
  2. You can choose to have A6 in a window instead. Try that, and see if it helps.
  3. Those suck. Suck horribly. But Unstable masses are those strange, reddish slimes you see every here and there, and if one hits it, it splits. Not if one kills it it turns into more enemies, but like the doomgaurds, it will turn itself into two unstable masses that, if you hit both of those, will turn into four unstable masses. If you are not careful, you can end up with a room full of those things. I was very frightened on those times when I found the three unstqable masses together, and the time when I came across those four doomgaurds.
  4. I've played the other two of those games...

Make sure both of your fighters die at the same time though or one will get slightly more XP. Unstable masses don't explode... I found that it is very good to kill them in one round.
  6. Is there a way to change the preferences in this game? If so, try that.
  7. Also, if you give her enough crystals, she gives you a special necklace. However, at the time I gave the required amount to her, I didn't need it all. It sold for a nice amount, though.
  8. @Taslim-Thank you very much, now I can finally play this.
  9. Really? If I download it, though, all I get is the demo version. Do I have to do something else?

  11. The item worth is also used in determining how much you can buy the item for from a vendor. I don't know how much the price is multiplied by each expense level (average, expensive, exorbiant, ect.) but I do know that if the vendor is selling the item for extremely cheap, then that means that the vendor is selling the item for the amount shown when one mouses over an item.
  12. In the Avernums, to get the actual price of an item, take what the game tells you it is worth and divide it by around 4. For the flawless crystal, it actually sells for only 50 coins. However, giving the crystals to the lady under the portal will give you some nice rewards and (I think) some exp.
  13. For those voting for Lark: What makes you think that she is better than X? If I lined them up in most to least favorite, it would go like this: X Solberg Gladwell(I don't actually like what he is trying to do, but I would put him above the others) Lark Kellner For the last two, except for giving a few quest, they didn't do much at all. The other did much more.
  14. Have you played the fallout series? It may be full to the brim with annoying bugs, but the games are (to me) quite good.
  15. When I beat the game, I had over 60 energy elixers, and over 40 energy potions. I had used several energy potions early on, but I only used one elixer recently while fighting the scourge. WIth my spellcasters, I managed to get their intelligence up to 14 and 15, their ME up to 17 and 20, their spell skill up to 20 and 22, and both of their spellcraft over 20 (thanks to DW). I was blasting eveything with my most powerful spell the entire last battle (those of you who have done it know how long it is), and when it finally ended, my two spellcasters both had around or over half of their spell energy left. And I didn't use a potion the entire fight.
  16. I have to go with you on X. I love the dialogue when he squishes the demon. But then again, solberg turned himself into dust. Ah well, super anvils are much cooler then wizard dust.
  17. If you are willing to change shocking rain into essence orbs, then you can also change the podlings attack into something else.
  18. Huh. It turns out that I have always been pronouncing Avernum correctly. That's weird, considered how much I screw up the names of things inside the games.

Out of combat. I also think that to cure lightning, you have to be out of combat too. I was covered in lightning, and while in combat nothing happened, but when I used another out of combat, it worked.

I just found another thing out! Curing potion/ elixer also cures being frozen!
  21. This only works if you have more than one character, one of whom can cast mage spells without a problem. If you meet that requirement, and then if you have another character that has a few points in made spells and knows a few buffs, but has to much bulky armor, you can do this: OUT of combat, go into the mage spell list from your character that can normally cast mage spells. Get the number of the person who normally can't use mage spells, and push it. The mage spell list should go to that character, and the spells they know and are in their skill range should be useable. Since this is out of combat, however, you can only use buffs (and if you want, summons), but that isn't very bad. It is a good way to get your fighter with all of his/her heavy armor to haste the party (or summon a rat). The buffs might not be as strong, but if you are low on spell energy or something, or maybe just want to save a bit of it, then this is something one could do.
  22. You will know when you get there, since there will be some signs and some dialogue that will tell you that you are in the undead spiral.
  23. I actually don't really care what faction I am to join, since I already saw the endings. This playthrough is going to be just to see how I can do with the builds. I do want to invest in all of the magics to be able to cast the more helpful spells, but I want to put a bit more into mental magic. I was also thinking about putting points in to only battle shaping, or maybe only a few in to the others.

I feel very thankful now that I had decided to put the curing potions in my quickspell slot and then let them gather dust.

It works! It works!I was just covered in that searing lightning by a scuttler, and when I used a regular curing potion, it went away!!!!!
