  1. I know. In my last run through, they were quite difficult. Now, I'm just going to have to hope that all the armor I'm shoving on my people and the extra levels coming from having only two people pay off.
  2. I managed to get lightning up to level 8, and I used it for the rest of the game. Of course, when I last played, ME didn't affect AoE spells, so I would probably do something different now. But still, it is a great spell. Try to get it if you can.
  3. If I were able to choose from all the creations, then I would take the war trall (or shock trall, if it is a hard boss). Battle creations are the way to go in this game, and the war trall is the best of them. I'm not counting the shock trall because it's unstable, but it is better than the war trall.
  4. Wow....I just finished reading the log. All I will say is this: Get some new dice.
  5. Very interesting. A good start, even if you have no skills. Normally, once I get into the game, I usually seem to neglect those basic stats. Since this is the beginning, you don't have to worry that much over everything killing you because of your lack of skills. By the time they really matter, you should (hopefully) have them. Because of your lack of tool use (and I'm assuming Nature lore) you will need to skip a lot in the first few areas, but then go back and collect those things again. What difficulty will this be? What traits do you have for your casters, and do they have any spells? Do you have any points in First aid? If you don't, it would be a good idea to put some in soon. It helps a bit early on, but later in the game I almost never had to heal/use potions (out of combat) because of it.
  6. I think that dual wielding seems so important since with it, your fighters can actually kill stuff and be effective. Without it, they mostly are just there as meatshields for your mages/priests. They are meatshields either way, but having dual wielding can let them kill stuff while they're being meatshields.
  7. It's 25%, and both of my characters are already past that, and they haven't even gotten to the portal keep yet. I'm going to have to be investing in Dex and Luck so they can still hit things.
  8. If I were you though, I would constantly try to go back and try to kill it, since the spell reward is very nice. It helped me out a lot.
  9. If that's true, then it would be a very good idea to ivest a lot of points in that catagory, so you would end up with a control foe that affects multiple enemies. I don't think that is true, since that would be a bit over powered. Just cast it once at a high level, and suddenly a huge swarm of creatures will be yours. Possibly you just gain access to control foe after getting to level six of daze. But then again, I don't have much of an idea on how this game will work.
  10. I wonder if there is going to be dual wielding in this game. It would be awesome if there is, but I would understand if there isn't.
  11. I was thinking about making one of them have two points in mage instead of priest, but then I remembered that I can't cast mage spells while I have too much bulky armor on, and I want as much armor as I can get. There is a way to work around armor so someone can cast mage buffs and summon stuff, but it requires a person who can cast mage spells without a problem, and I don't have that. For mage spells and such, I'll just have to go with potions, scrolls, and wands.
  12. The only suicidal things my creations tend to do most is rush onto a new swarm after we have just killed one and I'm not prepared for it.
  13. For my new run through, I think I will do this: Two Nephils, both of whom have two points in priest, 3 in first aid, both will dual wield, and both will focus on endurance, strength, and melee. Also, one will focus on tool use and the other on nature lore. Both will have DW and EW as traits. Difficulty will be normal for now. I think they shall want to try to spread evil and chaos, so they will try to kill the dragon(if it is possible for them), and go through with Glawell's quests and let him live.
  14. Actually, with the build I am using right now, my creations do very well with the AI on. Of course, they get frightened and go rogue a lot more easily, and they don't really have any strategy, but for the most part (except against pretty hard enemies) my three plated clawbugs and one drayk are doing fairly well, and usually the enemies are all killed by the time I even have a chance to move.
  15. Or if you don't want to waste as many of your turns healing.
  16. If there isn't any kind of meatshield (warriors), then everyone else will have to spend some of their skill points on endurance. That's why I usually don't want to do parties of all mages or priests, since you don't spend as much time on their endurance (usually), and the whole party would can, if you aren't paying too much attention, get wiped out by a few enemies that do moderate damage. (Happened to me in A5)
  17. Then if they tend to die and you often have the need for new ones, then it may be a good idea to put a few more points into your preffered shaping catagory.
  18. It may actually be good to pump int to 20 that early on, but it would be a bit of a pain and you would have to leave a lot of stuff alone and come back later. Also, with few creations, I can usually leave the whitespires at around 19-20, but maybe that is because I have leadership and mechanics and get the exp from those things.
  19. That does work, but if there one or few enemies that you want dead (bosses ect.), the way to go is dual wielding. With enough quick action and AP, even the most powerful enemies fall quickly (if they aren't super resistant to melee attacks).
  20. As the title suggests, I am going to do another run through. This time, however, I want to try some kind of build that would be interesting, unusual, and at least slightly challenging. I would like for you people to give me any suggestions (except any kind of singleton, since I just don't play that way. However, I don't think I would mind any other sizes). I have seen the endings where Click to reveal.. 1) Gladwell quests: Not finished, Darkside loyalists: killed, The Scourge: destroyed, Lord Farrar: Left alive, Tenevera: left alone, Dragon quests: 1/2 done Click to reveal.. 2)Gladwell quests: finished, killed, Darkside loyalists: killed, The Scourge: destroyed, Lord Farrar: killed, Tenevera: destroyed, Dragon quests: complete Click to reveal.. 3)Gladwell quests: finished, killed, Darkside loyalists: killed, The Scourge: destroyed, Lord Farrar: killed, Tenevera: destroyed, Dragon quests: complete, killed What would your suggestions for my next run through's build, difficulty, and alignment be?
  21. Namine, how do you use your creations? Do you try to keep them around for a long time, and only replace them once it is clear that they are of no more use, do you make quick hordes for tougher battles, then let them die? Or do you do something different?
  22. Putting more points in the shaping catagories helps make the creations you make stronger. I think that the minimum to make everything and its upgraded version is 5. When you say magic points, I assume that you're talking about the battle magic, mental magic ect. Putting points into those catagories helps make those spells stronger, and also unlock new spells.

    Odd weather...

Everyone seems to be talking about global warming effecting the planet, but whether it is or not, it does seem that some really wacky weather is happening. Where I live, it is the first day of June. Normally, in any other year, it would be either already in the hundreds or close to it, and would have been like that for a large portion of May, too. But this year, thats not happening. I don't even think that its gotten to the 80's yet. I have been told that the last time anything like this happened was 39 years ago. I was wondering if the weather was being strange in other places, too. If it has where you live, what's been happening?
  24. If you do work and somehow get into there, there is charm in there. Not necessary, but definitely nice to have.
  25. I've played two endings so far. In one, I killed Gladwell and did all of the dragon's quests. In the other, I just went back before I finished the first game and killed the dragon. I actually prefer the one where the dragon is alive and completely in power, since even though everyone is controlled, Avernum seems to be a better place then in the other ending I got.
