  1. Rotties all the way! But wingbolts have cool graphics, so I like them too. Of the ones listed in the poll, probably cryoas, just because they are the first ones you get that in some of the games can be worth keeping for most of the game, so I get attached to them.
  2. In the peer review process an article is given to several experts in the field of study to examine the article and decide whether the claims made in the article are credible and advance the field of study. Sometimes they request revisions, further explanations, or even further experiments. In other cases they may accept or reject the paper outright. In this case the "journal" decided to more or less accept the paper sight-unseen, because the topic was sufficiently sexy, and invite all of the field of study to chime in. They will then publish the paper and (presumably) selected comments both pro and con. This, in my opinion, is a blatant publicity-seeking joke on the part of the publishers of this "journal" and will not advance the field of study one whit. But they will no doubt get headlines, downloads, and interviews, which I suppose was really the whole point.

  5. One comment on the pure spellcaster. It is playable, but you will find that spell levels will become very expensive, so you might need to choose the Natural Mage and/or the Pure Spirit traits to get access to the higher level spells.
  6. The "Hidden Brigands" you found aren't the Brigands Spire wants dead. Those are in a hidden cave far closer to Spire. You need to find a hidden switch to find them. A few folks will give you hints as to where they are. Who you found are Darkside Loyalists who are indeed very tough, and one very powerful individual wants them dead. This is to say you really aren't supposed to able to kill them quite yet.
  7. Don't get me wrong. I loved using Mental Magic in GF4, and I started my Sorceress using it, but it wasn't working as well as just blasting my opponents to pieces, so except for a few special cases where Mental Magic really comes in handy I just blast away at my opponents. Maybe Essence Blade is a bit too powerful.
  8. Playing a Sorceress (kinda agenty) I found Battle Magic more useful than Mental Magic. One can do a *lot* of damage with Battle Magic, particularly when used in combination with Essence Blade and Battle Aura. Mental magic just doesn't scale up as well.
  9. Re: auras, you forgot the thorny aura, but that's ok, since it is probably the most useless of them all.
  10. I ran a Sorceress during much of the testing and found creations to be useful and not too difficult to keep alive. I kept a Cryoa alive until the end of two games at Normal difficulty. At the end they were level 44-46, deal tons of damage, and cost nearly no essence. Battle creations were quite useful as meat shields. At the end I had a Cryoa, Rotdhizon, and Gazer which was enough to take out everything except the most expert optional dungeon.
  11. An update: I reloaded, and it happened again. So I killed the Drayk, then fetched Reiner. This time near the end of the final Servile slaughter Reiner happened to be near the exit and escaped while I was mopping up the final Servile. So I don't know if killing the Drayk did it or whether still being in combat mode when Reiner had a chance to escape fixed it. Weird.
  12. OK, I'm in the Circle of the Drayk, merrily slaughtering Serviles. Once they all are dead except for the Drayk (whose turn comes later!) I go fetch Reiner, assuring him that the coast is clear and it's fine with me if he wants to continue his life as a slave. So off we go, slaughter the regenerated Serviles, and now the coast is really clear. All Reiner has to do is turn north to freedom, or slavery, or whatever, so I exit combat mode and... to my horror Reiner goes *south* to the waiting jaws of the Drayk. The next message is "Reiner is dead." No s**t Sherlock. Anyone have any idea why this happened?
