  1. You can also right click on the shortcut and go to the Properties dialog box and change the program to open in Windows 95 compatibility mode.
  2. Yes, I checked the other threads that came up when searching for "fanfiction" and found the link to his work on fanfiction.net as well. Thanks!
  3. Thanks so much! I was just thinking about Avernum fanfics.... It's a good think I did a search first I read a story back in 1998 that I would love to read again, does anyone know of any other Avernum/Exile Fanfiction?
  4. Just thought of something else that could cause your games to slow down: Windows Update -- wuacdl in your task manager process list I think
  5. I seem to remember a female ghost in one of the four corners...? Doesn't she help us with something, or give us a clue on how to defeat the demons?
  6. My games run fine, thank you Hydromedia. I was responding to the issue in the thread with tactics I use. I was only stating that I would close Firefox when it makes my games run slow, and that sometimes my antivirus program makes games run slow as well.
  7. Sometimes my games run slow when my virus software is updating itself in the background. I use avast antivirus software. I've also noticed games run slow when I have Firefox open in the background. I am also Windows XP for reference.
  8. I believe if you do all four of Melanchion's job board quests than you can ask Melanchion to free Bellichick and he will. I believe if you free him without Melanchion's permission, it would cause the Keep to become mad at you, but I could be wrong.
  9. Oh! See I never tried that boat....now I know what do do for next time, thanks! I guess I'm not used to using strange boats
  10. Sweet.....you mean I can finally have a party that looks like Buffy, Willow, Cordelia and Faith? LOL Sorry for showing my advanced nerdiness there....
  11. Well, they were weirdo's who were creating monsters! There's enough monsters running around already....at least that's my defence Oh, but don't forget you have to leave your boat at the entrance of the cult so even if you did teleport back to Melanchion you wouldn't have a boat. Better to teleport from Muck to Vahnatai Lands and then go and get the boat. Also, if you helped Muck instead of being against it then you have to go through Kherebass (not sure if I remembered that right) to exit Vahnatai Lands.
  12. The quest to find the passage? When you get to the Dark Waters and you find the weird cult that breeds monsters, one of the tunnels underneath their lair leads back to the Azure Gallery. Be aware though that it's a one way trip and you'll have to walk back through Vahnatai Lands to get back to the Dark Waters region.
  13. But the full body pictures on the Inventory tab would still be the old ones, right?
  14. I will definitely save as different names then, depending on the scenario. Excalibur, you misunderstood me on one point -- the scenario removed all my party members and replaced them with one character not created by me, created by Lazarus I presume. edited for formatting
  15. Okay, so let me start out with a little back story....about two years ago I had started playing Blades of Avernum. Created my party, played through Valley of Dying Things and a couple of other scenarios so my party was about level 20s or so. So I select the Frostbite Scenario next, and don't really realize what it's about to do. Basically all my party members were gone and I had one custom NPC. Played a little bit, did some fighting then I saved. After a bit I realized I didn't know how to get my party back. So needless to say my party was gone forever and after I had realized this I was pretty pissed off. Of course this wasn't Lazarus' fault, I hope I'm not implying it was. I was just being stupid and new to Blades of Avernum. But I did enjoy the Frostbite scenario and would like to play it again. However, how do I go about this without losing my custom party again? Do I create a new game instead of loading the saved game? Are there any other scenarios which I have to watch out for which could make me lose my party?
  16. haha, first I played Avernum 3, then Avernum 2 then Avernum 5 and now I'm trying to finish Avernum 4....I know, it's confusing to me too! I say trying to finish cause I started playing once but never finished it. Still have to finish Avernum as well!
  17. Yeah, but you also have to do the slime quest so that they actually let you go up to the Tower of Magi. Anyways, I'm not playing Avernum 3 currently, I'm playing Avernum 4 now. My challenge was to anyone who's currently playing Avernum 3 Though, I will definitely try it when I play Avernum 3 again.
  18. Maybe it won't change until you leave and come back? Anyways, I propose an experiment! Who'll volunteer? I don't have any saved games that are close to day 160
  19. Just remember to run your cursor along the wall that you can't see, just in case there are secret passage buttons or caches hidden from view. You'll see the outline through the wall so you don't miss them.
  20. Damn, I mostly avoided the basins.....they usually were poisonous or acidic! Now I see the error of my ways. Next time, I will go through the hassle of saving before each basin!
  21. LOL, I didn't even catch that you said the eye was deaf until now, so I guess I'm blind too... It must be my glasses as well as yours
  22. I would have loved to get into the area where Khoth was being held prisoner by the Empire. That would have been so cool!
  23. I never joined the Anama, for the same reason as you Mystic. I rely heavily on both mage and priest spells in my party and could never join one that got rid of one side of the coin. I did buy the fake Anama Rings that the Guild of Thieves in Avernum 3 sold, but only so I could buy cheap piercing crystals And then after I had explored the Anama-only areas in the game, I would talk to Ahonar and make him angry so he could remove the rings for me. Then I could go back and talk to the Mages again!
  24. Umm....I play on Easy all the time and I still find the game hard in some points. There's like the dungeons or quests which are too hard for your characters to finish, or monsters that are too hard and you have to come back later once you've gone up a couple of levels. Sometimes I get killed multiple times and have to rethink my strategy or come back later. Personally, I am quite happy with the difficulty levels of the games.
  25. All you have to do is transfer the saved game files.
