  1. Hmmm, I guess I'd have to turn her in after I finished all the quests for her. Also all the quests on the island itself as I probably wouldn't be able to come back. Maybe Cienna gives a quest to kill her, in which case the whole island would turn hostile.
  2. I do all the usual OCD stuff people have already mentioned, like bumping walls, saving, picking up items (though I only pick up good items, like steel stuff to sell). But apart from that, one weird thing I do is pants related....I only like wearing the straight pants (the ones that look like pants in the item list) and not the ones that look like they're all folded and wrinkly. Oh and cloaks too...I only like the nice green ones not the ugly purple ones. The only reason I'd wear a purple one is because it's magic. In fact, Avernum 1 had a bad habit of making my cloaks and pants disappear when I got killed (I would die and use the editor to bring myself back to life but the clothing would be missing from the items on the ground) so I would pick up extra pants and cloaks and stash them away.
  3. Thanks for the tips! I guess it's harder being evil than I thought
  4. Huh....thanks very much Alorael! (just noticed I spelt your name wrong in a previous post, sorry about that , will edit) That brings up another question, how would you type a symbol that doesn't exist on any keyboards? I guess it would be like trying to type the windows logo. Maybe there's a font like webdings or something that you can use.
  5. Hmm.....the Anama annoy me. Also, I was thinking, what would be more evil? To help the Vahnatai against Muck? or help Highground? or help no one and just screw everybody over? I wonder if I would still do Dionicio's quests? Obviously he wouldn't be helping me in the final battle though.
  6. Very interesting! So I wonder why Mac decided to use this ancient symbol on their command key? It is also known as "the place of interest" sign, which I guess could explain why it was chosen as an important Mac key.
  7. Yes, don't take off the armour, and don't haste your fighter. Just have him stand there and not attack at all. Keep you other characters out of the way and heal fighter as necessary. Keep on pushing the space bar to skip combat and you can use augmentation and shielding if you want.
  8. I've decided the next time I play Avernum 5 to play evil characters throughout. That means taking Gladwell's geas, turning in Shankar, joining Darksite Loyalists, killing dragon under Harkin's Landing, stealing Anama Papers, stealing dragon's egg, killing Gladwell, etc. Now this may be strange to some, but I've never played any Avernum game as an evil person, I've basically played nice all the time. Helping innocent towns, not killing children, not turning towns hostile, etc. My question is should I do quests for people? That is, helping people out by doing quests for them seems like a good adventurer type thing to do. But there are quests I have to do to win the game, plus they do give rewards. Also, is there anything I should know about playing bad characters? (Sorry if these questions seem weird, I'm just not used to playing evil characters. Avernum 5 has this whole other side though that I didn't get to take part in, which messes with my Avernum OCD For the OCD reference, see post under the Avernum Trilogy forum: http://www.ironycentral.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=107975#Post107975
  9. I would disagree, if you really are new to the game then it should not be insulting to be called a newbie. However, if you've been playing for awhile, then it would be insulting to be called a newbie. Noob is an insult anyway you look at it though. See this CTRL-ALT-DEL comic for some laughs and clarification: http://www.cad-comic.com/comic.php?d=20060823
  10. I am curious, what is this "cloverleaf" key that you are all referring to? The link that Aloreal provided goes to a page about ampersands, is that the cloverleaf key? I have a windows computer and not a macintosh, so I am fascinated by these different keys I'm hearing about.
  11. I think it's 8 rounds, but I'm not sure. I know it seems like a long time
  12. Oh I remember that one, I meant that I didn't remember a quest about murders in Cotra. Sorry for not being clear.
  13. I don't remember this quest at all, and I played Avernum 1 a couple of months ago. Maybe if someone jogged my memory a bit I might remember more?
  14. That's what I liked about Avernum 4 and 5, was that you had different save slots. I think I made it to 9 different saves for each of them, especially when entering an area I wasn't sure I'd be able to leave. For all avernums, I usually save every 10 minutes or after/before every fight, and especially before entering those random dungeons that pop up encounters that some sort of horrible monster wants to fight with you. You know, the dungeons that you can't actually enter, you just see the door in the cave wall? For the Avernum 1-3 I just save over the same file over and over again. So only one save file per game.
  15. No, he's right it is in the Nephar Fort which is south of the Nephilim Fortress in the Eastern Gallery. Check out this Annotated Maps link: http://www.silverchat.com/~silver/Avernum/Wrappers1/NepharFort.html It is confusing isn't it, to have two dungeons full of nephilim trying to kill you. Edit - Made URL into link.
  16. I love John Steinbeck, my favorite is "Of Mice and Men" followed by "East of Eden".
  17. This might help: http://www.silverchat.com/~silver/Avernum/Wrappers1/Bahssikava.html
  18. If you mean the Vahnatai town of Ghikra in Upper Avernum, it's open right away, you can go and talk to them and do a quest to recover a statue for one of them. I believe they sell alchemy recipes and priest spells and crystals and weapons.
  19. Well they can only pick one of the two possible endings to A5 to continue the series on, so my guess is they would pick the one where Dorikas is dead. Afterall, that is the more standard "hero-adventurer" type ending. In most games, adventurers usually don't end up fighting on the bad guys side. I also agree that A6 should have the choice between a happy ending and an "everything is decimated" ending as well.
  20. I think all the sliths in Gnass and Lost Bahssikava have learned to live peacefully, and we should finally go to the Sliths homeland and meet their leaders. Sort of like how we met the Vahnatai leaders in A2...maybe the Sliths could have something valuable stolen and need adventurers to go rescue it? That brings up another point though....who will the villains be in A6? Dorikas and Rentar Ihrno are dead and Avernum and the Empire is at peace. Unless the Vahnatai and the Slith are at war over the lower caves and we have to pick which side we're on, oh that would be cool!
  21. Oh yes, I forgot about that. But they don't have lethal blow in Avernums 1 - 3 do they? I guess that was what I was referring to.
  22. They'd for sure have to make three movies, like they did with lotr. Also, would there be 3 different bands of adventurers or just one? If one, would they compress the storyline so that it would be possible that one band of adventurers did all that?
  23. I like making custom characters so I can get rid of useless skill points that the pre-made characters have. For instance, if you make someone a Solder, they have points in pole and sword fighting, even though you might only want them to know the sword. Same with a rebel, they have points in both, even though my slith is a rebel and I only want him to have pole skills.
