Is this G2? If it is then you can sell the jewels(collective term) to a merchant northwest of fort muck in the area itself. Its cheaper than selling them to a merchant in a city, but if they don't have enough coin, its a good back up. You can sell the shaper records to gareth in Gheth but only if you joined the barzites The books have no use and are merely world building.

Very nice.

There's a lot of enemies in that area, so you'll get swarmed pretty easily. Since you only have a gazer with you, you'll have to be carfull not to get swarmed. If you can, make a War Trall so you can hit the Eyebeast with phyisical. This is one of the few times that the War Trall comes in handy in the game.

During the purchase, you get the option to ass it on your bill. I think. Its been a bit since I've bought a spiderweb game.
