The GF4 reaction to excessive canister use has worse side effects than GF5. You could lose control and get in a fight when you didn't need or want to. I think this is one of the reasons the text says it was 'surprisingly easy' to control your anger and not attack an offensive NPC. You can up your canister use count by using SDF 35 6 12 and see the differences it makes in dialog and choices. Not to mention 'end game' outcome. (Somewhere I saw the scale of canister use side effects. >0, <5, <12.) Choices that the 'cheat code' (SDF 35 6 0) makes possible no matter how many canisters used. (That's why it's a cheat.) GF5 won't let you lose control like GF4 did. (Have you played GF4?) The above 'cheat' is for those wanting to remove canister use side effects immediately. Not using canisters at all will still result in you being recognized as an outsider with essense (shaping ability).

  3. In GF4 'Iffy' made an SDF code that zeroed the canister count so you didn't get any bad effects but kept the benefits. (Thanks again Iffy!) The idea works for GF5 as well though the SDF is different. I hadn't used enough canisters to have bad effects, but use does change some dialogs and choices. (You can test this by using SDF's 35 6 0 and 35 6 12 to see the contrast between dialogs and choices.) Sadly the 'forced fights' won't happen in GF5 as in GF4 so negative effects are now milder. SDF 35 6 0 Will definately zero out the counter. The fact that you've used the Geneforge, (and canisters), in a pre-amnesia event or in this game will allow anyone with enough 'essence' to recognize you've been shaped. Any use of 1 or more canisters can be recognized as well and effect your choices. So, it at least prevents that. Even if you never use a canister some of the dialogs still sound like you have but that's because you've been shaped from before the beginning of the game. The best way to having the best results of canister use is to use SDF 35 6 0 after each canister.
  4. Just tested with 1.0.1's .exe and trainer didn't work on my machine either. As I said earlier I'm running the v1.0.0's .exe and it works. [if it ain't broke, don't fix it!] Did you actually download and install the demo (Geneforge5Demo.exe) and it had 1.0.1 incorporated in it ? If so, get the Geneforge 5.exe file with v1.0.0 executable and maybe the game and trainer will both work for you, as they have for me and most others. If I can help, let me know. I can create and PM you a link to the single file Geneforge 5.exe which is all you need for testing it.

I 'Iffy' found a simple SDF code in GF4 that allowed you to zero out the total count for canister use while keeping all the benefits. Just a few key strokes and no script editing. Iffy's GF4 Canister Cure: open console (shiftD) and type SDF 100 4 0
  6. Ouch! Be patient for a little while and I think all will be well. Pyro is still working on the trainer and ultimately the game version and his trainer will be better than ever.
  7. I'm not 100% sure. v 1.0.0 works fine for me. I believe it should work fine with the 1.0.1 and 1.0.2 because the trainer works directly with memory locations. The fixes versions shouldn't have changed that as they targeted specific issues unrelated to the trainer. Just try it out. If any of it's target areas in memory changed it simply won't work. And if it doesn't Pyro could update his original after a specific version becomes official.
  8. This is TOTALLY AWESOME! If this trainer was "quick and dirty" I'd like to see some of your more serious work! This is most of what you need for a "character editor" as well as elevating and locking some key abilities in a true "old school" trainer style. Great piece of work! Thank you! Used it once and made 7 fully buffed creations. Duped some items, got some coins, saved game, re-loaded without trainer and got to keep all the goodies!
  9. This makes items in inventory much more visible. It will also make the "load saved game" files, "traffic signs" and "info" screens background grey but still readable. (They all use the same targa file as background.) If anyone finds this idea helpful, but wants text more vivid against the grey background, I think I can edit the text colors. www.freewebs.com/microphage/gf5visual.ZIP (Note: If you cycle back here without getting the file just copy and paste the link in a new browser window.) To make items in inventory much easier to see this G143.tga file has been modified to make the background 2 shades of grey instead solid black. Some item icons were nearly invisible because they were black, or close to black themselves. Saltweed, Swamp Herbs, Wiry Moss and belts for example. You could still mouse over them and see the text info. The file goes in the Geneforge 5\Geneforge 5Files\Graphics Core\ folder. As always, be sure to make backup before changing file. -=microphage=- Please feel free to add any cool tips and tricks you may have. .......And rename the subject line with the description. ............................-=microphage=-

Drawing undue attention to something is generally considered annoying anywhere, internet or not. You are absolutely right. *bump* I toned down the title to the entire thread last night as well. Got excited about finding a way to do the gold cheat as I'd been looking for a way to do that for 2 years. Got carried away. Won't happen again. I know "editor" and I see that a lot like "SDF 75 5 1" have been mentioned here. Is "editor" the only one that doesn't require you to know the internal codes? Can you be more specific? Or just PM me with details of exactly what you did and what you wish you'd done. I think it may be possible. As for some SDF codes, they don't exist as such in many cases. I started using them to avoid editing for people who weren't comfortable with it, as well as easy reference for myself on subsequent replays. So, yes and no. There is a list of cheat codes already in game. They're mentioned in various places, including earlier posts in this thread. Many of the SDF's were made by reading the scripts and making one for a specific purpose. So, no list.
  14. My bad. The blue jar was a level above. By the time I posted that I was into serious "brain burn" from playing about 18 hours. Sorry 'bout that! You're the 1st person to spot that. Good catch... It's fixed. Thanks.
  15. NewMoneyCheat or new.money.cheat How's that? I think that being able to get 30000 coins instantly by a simple edit was a pretty "darn good reason." Sorry you didn't. It's fixed now. The original "new money cheat" in the 1st post in this thread was not as effective as a "pure money cheat" as this recent one is. I wanted to leave the first one that way to allow more choices. Example: you could still eat cake for 7 health points, or sell 4 pieces for 30000 as well as add other abilities to the giveasnack cheat. Also, I combined 2 posts into one by replying to a previous one and posting my new one at the same time. That was a reason for the CAPS as well. No boosting post counts for me... I wanted to make it so people who had already seen the original would realize the difference. I'm aware that all caps is considered "SHOUTING". Though it can be OK in some cases, your point has been made. I'm guessing that the CAPS use in the title of this thread is considered reasonable as it's been that way for several months. No complaints. I'll try to keep a balance between the two. I'm also guessing you've tried it as there were no complaints because it didn't work properly. So, pretty cool money cheat?

  19. OK. Your main reason for taking the test was to kill Kherrr. (Though you can take test without killing him 1st.) You probably did that. If you went back to quest giver you would have completed the quest. (I think it's in the crystal works in Shankers Tower, nephil named Sarramor.) It may have come from a Job Board too. Seems like you needed some other quest completed before being able to finish this one. The reason you want back in is to get the ceremonial items. They aren't very good weapons/armor as such, there are better. They are valuable to sell. But I understand the added challenge of trying to get away with them. All you can do is stash them somewhere or sell them because you will lose them anywhere in the vicinity of the test area even if you get away far enough to resurrect the player carrying them. You will find yourself in the area again later and if you are carrying them around, POOF! Bye, bye items. Use the item numbers 73 317 and 360 to get them from the sign at Storgalds Herbs as described in the earlier posts in this thread. Just remember to make backups of the text files you change. All you will be doing is editing a text file. Not coding or programming per se. If you still have trouble, PM me. I'm replaying the game and am about 2/3rds done. You are still fairly early in the game. It may be worth a restart to you. The number of data flags would take hours to find and make SDF's and test them. I could tell you how to reset the quest flag but it's more than a bit chancy and unpredictable results could occur. I actually went back to do this quest on a replay of the game. I'd say just save the "keep the ceremonial items" trick for a replay. I did. -=microphage=-

I like to arrange my inventories so all same items are neatly grouped together. Even rearrange each time I get some more. I allocate specific items to certain characters. I use my lead character to have all crystals, ingredients and such found in caches so that storage for stackables is pretty much automatic. I also edit scripts to make unsellable items sellable. I even refer back to them on replays. I wait impatiently for the next Spidweb release. (Hmmm, maybe that's not so strange.) -=microphage=-
  21. Try SDF 14 3 0 If that doesn't do it you can get the items by script editing as described above (reward_give) with these item numbers: 73 317 360
  22. Good question. I like thw switches. The walls have the same pattern everywhere and you have to move your cursor to highlight a switch. Also there are instances of switches being hidden. There was also a feature that you could type "u"sable items and they'd be alpha letter highlighting! Moving our cursor over switchlike shapes is more naturally challenging than hitting every surface like you had OCD. I remember how cool some of the earlier games seemed at the time... But I find it difficult to get the same enjoyment after playing the new ones when I fool around with the old ones. Looking forward to A6 and the re-writing of A1-3 with all the cool stuff that's possible now. -=microphage=-
