Should I just drop the lowest rating? 'Cause if I drop the highest, we have a serious problem. EDIT : BainIhrno, the lowest score was the eight score, by the way (Kel said he'd give it a ten if we were rating BoE as a whole). And unless you change your mind about the way the rating works, this means that BoE's average score is still 10.0. Say yay everyone.
  2. Quote: Originally written by Dikiyoba: Good, but not outstanding. I'll give it an 7.5, since I don't buy anything under a 7.0. It was good to see a sequel and great to see the Awakened with more power than just a good vision. Interestingly, Dikiyoba noticed that several serviles change from female to male between G1 and G2. From male to female too, like Learned Darian.

I'm pretty sure that the designers would give it a lower score than just the players, though. We'll see. EDIT : So far I seem to be wrong. Looks like BoE is on its way to earn the 'Best Spiderweb Game Ever' award. EDIT 2 : I wanted to edit my post and I quoted it instead. Gah.

  5. Actually, I remember someone saying (writing) that the A4 demo was way smaller than one fifth of the game.
  6. Well, lookie here! We forgot Nethergate. I have mixed feelings about this one. On one hand, I love the spells, the plot, the subquests and the humor (I loved the talking skull and what happens if you refuse to give up the eye when you play as the Romans), and the originality; and on the other hand, the gameplay is very unbalanced at times, some things are just too odd (puzzle box, Sylak's trash, etc.), and some areas have too much combat (The Valleys of Annwn, for example). EDIT : Whoops, forgot the score. So, um, 8.5.

But you can choice only 2 factions and you have only a follower. I don't mind the fact that there are only 2 factions in Gf3. It's not like you could have had lots of factions in remote islands who are at war. As for the follower thing... The follower NPCs weren't all that useful in Gf2. Greta, on the other hand, is very useful; and even Alwan can be useful if you find a way to make him stay alive.

  9. Not just the pre-made scenarios, but Blades of Exile as a whole. The engine, the potential, etc. (I think it's a bit early to make a thread about BoA yet, since there aren't that many scenarios, so I won't make one).
  10. I personally haven't finished playing it yet, but so far I've had a lot of fun experimenting with the different damage types, the creations, etc. I even managed to kill Diwaniya with a few vlish before leaving Harmony Island (I even tried to kill Lankan in his Augmented state, but I got roasted). I've also tried crafting which looks promising, and I think the plot is very interesting and much more original than the G2 plot.
  11. You may also want to try one of the best scenarios ever .
  12. Bad : The gameplay could be a bit more balanced at times, some puzzles are a bit too hard in my opinion, one of the areas becomes 'unclearable' if you destroy a power spiral, there are still a few bugs/things that were not implemented/things that are not completely logical. Good : Pretty much everything else. 9.5
  13. Cryoa : definetely better than the fyora if you've got enough essence. Roamer: usually far more useful than the pyroroamers. Cryodrayk : one of my favorite creations ever. EDIT : Because 1) they're tough; 2) they're very powerful in melee, 3) their ranged attacks are very powerful as well, 4)they don't miss often. Ur-Drakon : Because Ur-Drakons seem to be able to keep attacking for a very long time, also because being able to damage 5 enemies at the same time is cool. Plus, they're tough. Thahd Shade : It's nice not to get hit too often, and they do a fairly nice amount of damage as well. Plated Clawbug : Because speed is wonderful. Battle Alpha : Because battle betas are not cost-effective enough in my opinion, although they can be useful at times. Rotghroth : Rotdhizons are just too expensive, although I'll make one at times if I need a single very tough creation. Artila : Searing Artilas are too expensive, and by the time I can really afford them I've usually got something better.Making a bunch of Searing Artilas is nice when you want to smother an enemy in acid, though. Vlish : Because slowing is deadly. Glaahk : If I speed up my glaahks, I usually don't need to use ur-Glaahks. Eyebeast : Because of the deadly stun ability. Gazers do more damage to a single target, though. EDIT : Removed extra space.

Interestingly, I can't remember having that problem in A2. And since the Test of Patience can be hell even if you don't have any mouse/keyboard problems, I'm not sure I want to imagine what it must have been like for you.
  15. Yep. Unlike Geneforge 3, it's usually best to wait until you've trained in a skill twice before using the canisters that will raise said skill. Also, I believe some trainers can only train you in the same skill once, no matter what.
  16. Quote: Originally written by Thin Air: The mouse is no good either as one click moves me two spaces. I had that problem while playing the A1 demo some time ago. I think I also have that problem with Nethergate. If you click really quickly, you should only be moved one space. And if this is really annoying, I'm afraid you'll have to use the numpad.
  17. I can't seem to be able to view the poll window either. EDIT : I just noticed that the second part of my post could be badly misunderstood, so I deleted it.

Oh well, I'll be having enough fun snorkelling around that I probably won't think of A4. Too much. Um, I was kinda joking about that advertisement thing. You weren't really advertising anyway. Oh, and happy vacation!

  20. I've only played the demos so far, but I thought the Avernum 3 demo was the best. (Since I haven't played the full games yet, I'm not going to vote).
  21. Those nasty oozing beasts in Gazak-Uss were also ornks, I believe. Hopefully Geneforge 4 will still have the Ornk Canister and the two über-difficult dungeons.

I just didn't know Vlish were into that sort of thing. Well, we have tentacles! What do you expect us to do with them? I shudder to think what the Shapers actually made the Vlish for, then. Ah, thanks for the info. I guess. *faints*

  24. Quote: I find the idea of being merged with a lesser life form highly disagreeable. In short, YUCK. Does this mean you are a lesser life form, then, Delicious Vlish ? Not sure if all of the vlish are 'lesser life forms'... Some seem to be very clever and there's a vlish in Geneforge 2 who can beam his feelings to Shapers.
  25. Samael is the faery who traps souls. He's also the one who has the 'Hero of Old' and 'Clouds of the Night' spells.
