  1. I choosed to train one of my character in thrown weapons instead of bows. But missiles' weight sucks. So I bought two levels of bow skill in Camp Samuel for ease of play. I kept fine razor disks in storage anyway. I will use them for the end game, they do more damage than bows' arrows.

  3. OK, I see thank you. The problem is I didn't get the quest to kill the battlemaster. I talked to him first and choosed to help him. When I told Queen Anatollia I killed Imriel, she went angry but didn't attack me. I think I wil have to be the agressor.
  4. I choosed to aid battlemaster Crewl. Is there a way to get a quest to attack Anatolia or to have her attack you? I would like to attack Spire, they are allied with the Darside Loyalist afterall, but would rather not be the aggressor.
  5. The demo should enable you decide. As many other Exile/Avernum fan's I find A4 weaker than other Avernum games. It's not so much the main plot, of course it is unimaginative. The problem is I can't get the same feeling in the world I get from previous games. I also realy miss the boats. With the lot of rivers and lake I feel robed of a big part of the game. The absence of regenerating dungeons like in Exile 2 is also a shame, with a rather short game (comparing with A2 or A3) it would have been nice to always be able to grab a bit more money or XP if you wish, especialy with the new special skills. On the positive side, First Aid is great, the aera spells are back and you have a lot of special equipement to choose from. Anyway, I bought A4, I have almost finished it and I would buy it again.
  6. He is selling bows in the market in Silvar, just north of the teleportation Pylon.
  7. The third test is under the eastern cave, north of fort Dranlon. X's quest with the lizard egg is not part of the test serie.
  8. You can't make your own potions. There is no alchemy skill in Avernum 4. It may be useful to buy ingredients and then get help from an alchemist in town, probably cheaper than buying the potion. It is also an easy way to resolve some quest when you are asked to find a potion ingredient (like graymold in the demo).
  9. I vote for Acid Spray, it does a lot of damage over time and was the way to kill all the pylons on the way to the Basalt Fortress. I like Icy Rain too, Lighting Spray ic nice when 3 foes are close together. I prefer to avoid high level damage spells, they don't seem to be cost effective.
  10. After you release him from his cell, you have to escort him. On your way you are ambushed at least three time by almaria's madmen. If you leave Ghall ihrno alone after talking to him in the cell, he is bound to be killed. When you reach a gate in the north of almaria's sewer, you get a message saying that Ghall Ihrno manage to pass between the bars (you can't follow him), and should reach the castle safely.
  11. OK that's it, I have to kill the shade to gain training in those skills, thank you. By the way I think this way of restricting training is frustrating for players. It would have been better to allow only one point per skill to be bought from each trainer, whatever the level a character has got in the skill.
  12. I can't get trained in Quick Strike by the guy in Cotra. My character has it at 0, satisfies the condition of STR and DXT and it's available on my training screen (whith a + if I wish to spend skill points). Do I need to do some quest before?
  13. Do draining slimes (like those you can find in the Tower of Magi or in the Honeycomb) drain your experience when they hit you? I fear so, but I always forget to check.
  14. The man's name is Giscard, he lives west of Formello. You find a letter of him on a body in the eastern caves. This enable you to speak to him and get the quest to clean the storeroom behind this locked door (of course he give you the key).
  15. Quote: Originally written by lordofdc: wait a min....i thought the empire destroyd fort avernum. I don't think it was destroyed. The empire stoped sending people down after Hawthorn assassination, so the fort was abandonned. During the empire war (Avernum 2) it was used by refugees from Cotra (which was destroyed, nice to know it's being rebuilt).
  16. What are the skills I can buy? And where? especially if it's at an afordable price. I'am shy about spending my precious skill points if I can get skill increases for cash.
  17. Were is it safe to stockpile you items? I have some trouble to choose for my best armor kit (more protective or less bulky? Armor or specific protection?) so I wish to keep my extra items in case I change my mind. Is it just safe to pile them anywere?
  18. OK, quite useful indeed. Thank you.
  19. What's the effect of the stone pylons in Fort Monastery, Fort Draco and Formello? The demo's walkthrough tells to touch them as this will become usefull later, but what's is the exact effect? I wish to know.
  20. I began with Exile 2 too. It's still my favorite spiderweb game, especialy for its plot, even if I love the many options in character's developpement Avernum brought us. I am away from my computer next week, so I will have one less week to wait for Avernum_4 .
